In season moves
Trade Shumpert for a late 1st round pick or a couple 2nd picks
Trade Calderon for an expiring contract- if you can get any more for him great, but clear his salary from the books
Trade JR for anything- if that means using Shumpert to dump him- I'm all for it. If untradeable- pray he opts out or use stretch provision of him. I don't think it will be hard to trade him if you attach 3mill cash and future 2nd round pick.
Go all in on tank and make sure you finish bottom 3 records which guarantees you a top 4 pick. Pray we get Okafor or draft Towns.
Free Agents
Working with around 35 million in cap room. Sign Danny Green, Draymond Green and Goran Dragic.
Danny Green- 8/9 mill a year
Draymond- 10-12 a year
Dragic- 12-15 Mill a year
Other FA targets
Gasol( Pipe dream)
Aldridge- long shot at best
Leonard and Jimmy Butler- both restricted but great players
Affalo or Wes Matthews- Similar to Danny Green, good two way player who can shoot
2015 Lineup
Dragic
Green
Melo
Green
Okafor
Would still need to fill out the bench but I would love this team. All a Knick fan has is hope nowadays and this is what one fan is hoping for. What do you guys think? Realistic? Crazy?
Dragic affalo melo Monroe Okafor
Remember knicks c an now sign and trade again

Nothing about assuming the Knicks get the #1 pick in the draft is realistic.
C'mon Eric, you just know we are picking 4th in a "3 player" draft. :)

I prefer Karl Towns over Okafor. I do like Okafor, but I think Towns is a better overall talent.

LOL... most likely. We'll end up with the worst record and not get a top 3 pick.
Towns has more potential but drafting potential is always scary...Okafor looks like a ready product...
Its going to be Lakers, Knicks 1-2 and its going to create so much talk that the NBA is going to love it...

I just love his defensive prowess and I think he'd be a great fit for this group. I also like Myles Turner a lot if the Knicks fall out of the top 3.
Then go into the off season who Melo and Draft pick and hope Melo Fish and himself can go out and recruit guys on the basis of building a fresh start in New York with a new culture..
Unless they are trading for a monroe or Dragic, i want them selling...
Let Melo rest this year, this season is over its time to embrace the tank and start building towards next season...
Try and sell off players like JR smith and Calderon, see if someone is willing to give up a pick to get them..
Let THJR, Early, Wear, Aldrich, and bring up Thanasis and see what they can do...Bring in some dleague guys maybe catch lightning in the bottle with someone...
Hopefully you can somehow gain some more picks and this way you can add cheap young players since a lot of the money is going to spent trying to bring higher end guys..this way you do not have to have 5 or 6 vet minimum type guys, bring in young guys through the draft to rebuild your bench...
Mudiay is so intriguing though. One of the most athletic guard prospects I've seen in a while. He feels like the ultimate boom or bust pick in this draft.
Draft: Hopefully Okafor.
Late 1, early 2 targets: Frank Kaminski, Jerian Grant (perfect triangle PG)
Free agency targets: 1) Marc Gasol 2) Greg Monroe 3) Tobais Harris
Recent history on 2nd's is pretty good and stashing guys always gives you a shot at something. I've long felt if you could stash non-euro's in europe some of these "busts" wouldn't have been busts at all because they would develop their games.
Towns' ceiling might be higher, but what are the chances he maxes out his potential? 20%? Maybe 30%?
Chuck Barkley, on ESPN radio, w/ another shot @PhilJackson11: "I only know 4 principles of Triangle Offense: Michael, Scottie, Kobe & Shaq"
I'm sure the Knicks would take him 3rd if he were there but keep in mind a Phil Jackson championship team has never had/focused on the PG position. Plus a potential Melo/Monroe/Okafor trio could overwhelm teams.
The estimate was put forth Friday by Rich Tullo, director of research for Albert Fried & Company, which covers the MSG stock.
"As the Harlem Globetrotters are the only New York professional [basketball] team winning in Madison Square Garden this season, we cut our estimates to reflect light TV ratings," Tullo wrote.
Through last week, the New York Daily News reported that average viewers per game was down almost 20 percent as compared to a similar point in the season last year.
"Following more than 20 games highlighted by creative destruction, we think the sample set is large enough to determine lower estimates," Tullo wrote.
At 5-23, the Knicks have the second-worst winning percentage in the league (.179), ahead of only the Philadelphia 76ers.
Tullo said that Madison Square Garden is insulated somewhat from a bad season in that only 30 percent of revenues from the MSG Network come from advertising, while the rest is made up of affiliate fees that are locked in. Ticket revenues are also a somewhat steady business.
"Our view is New York in the winter is a basketball town," Tullo wrote. "Thus owing to great teams visiting the Knicks and sports tourists, we think the demand for 41 Knicks games and its 18,500 seats is somewhat inelastic in the short term."
Over the last three months, MSG stock is actually up more than 14 percent.

Houston will send Troy Daniels to Minnesota as part of the Brewer deal, sources tell Yahoo Sports.
SIGNING Gasol makes them maybe a 40-5 win team for about two years until age gets both Gasol and Melo and then they would be a 30-5 win team until those two contracts expired
nothing in this free agent class that is making the Knicks a contender, unless Irving and Love have career ending injuries and Lebron opts out of Clev.

Yeah, and how does Detroit have only five wins with both Monroe and Drummond? They should have more wins than that with me and Headhunter in the backcourt and Dan at SF.
So my comment about him being turdish is right on!
I haven't liked anything I've seen from Towns so far. His basketball skill kind of sucks.
Sources: Three-way Corey Brewer deal taking shape: Ronny Turiaf to 76ers with a second-round pick. Sixers send Alexey Shved to Rockets.
