I am not optimistic. And I fear for Eli's health in this game. The Walton/Jerry combo is awful, and I would look for this to be the spot where Williams brings additional pressure to blow up plays quickly.
Thats what I would do if they want to try and bring pressure directly up the middle.
If i'm Gregg Williams, I would try and generate pressure with just my front four. Like Eric and Victor both stated, the Donald/Jerry, Donald/Walton matchup is very much in favor of the Rams.
I could see Donald, Quinn, and Long being enough to pressure Eli into throwing into coverage.
However, like Eric pointed out Gregg Williams will send extra people even if his front four are doing the job.
Tough task this week blocking up front.
its looking as though jennings is out of this game
I am very excited to watch this. We will really be able to gauge how far the offense has come along. The Beatty vs Quinn matchup interests me as well as seeing if the defense can continue getting pressure against a better OL than they have gone up against in the past 3 weeks.
And with no running game to rely upon, I would throw on first down a lot otherwise you are walking right into Rams sweet-spot.
Get a few yards from Donnell and whomever is in the slot on first down and do not make Eli a target on third and long.
If we do get into 3rd and long, take advantage of their aggressiveness. Although that requires Eli not to panic with his tendency to throw high and poorly orchestrated screen passes.
i think we have gotten away a bit from the matchup problem donnell is for defenses. i think it would be a good week to focus on him again early and often over the middle
after the next two weeks. We beat two atrocious teams and now we're "a few players away" to many of the Pollyannas on BBI. The Rams will overwhelm our shitty OL and it will be a victory if Eli isn't injured.
but Eli is getting used to the offensive scheme and I feel we are actaually, truly better than before. Of course having Odell makes a big diffence but overall, Parker, Donnell,Fells, Wynn, Moore, Kennard,a better JPP,the o-line, yes the o-line and the defense, all improved. And the much critisized Rueben Randle made some catch in the clutch last week From the commenets I guess the Rams are pretty tough. Well, let's see how we do. Will be interesting..
think Eli is going to get killed. The Rams will come right up the middle. That means keeping Williams in to block. And aside from Beckham, we have no receiving targets that anyone isn't afraid to play with only one man. The Rams can get pressure with just their front four in all likelihood. Can you imagine what it will be like when they bring five or more?

It is time to see what we have in OG Eric Herman. If there is concern for Eli, play Nassib! Enoyugh of Coughlin worrying about his job, play the young guys and save Eli for next year. If Herman is as good as I think, 10 year OG!

But at some point, Rueben Randle, Larry Donnell, and Andre Williams have to pick up some of the slack.
And just like #4 sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn't.

Agree 100%. Eli throws a lot of ints, no doubt. But you never see him throw the game ender. I never got the "killer" or "backbreaking" INT thing.
Hell, it just happened three weeks ago. No way Jacksonville wins if Eli doesn't fumble the ball into the end zone.
The 49er game with 5 picks?
C'mon.

It'll be a game in the 4th QTR...
Maybe you haven't been watching our running game on first and second down? More often than not, one of those runs is for zero yards.
On top of that, gregg williams has had Eli's number. We will run the ball 2 keep eli safe, and we should
