CNN reports that an FBI investigation has linked “the malware, infrastructure and techniques a group of hackers called ‘Guardians of Peace’ used in the Sony attack to previous North Korean cyberattacks” -- including those made in March of 2013 against South Korean banks and media outlets.
"White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said the response would be "proportional" while the FBI said the following in a statement: "Working together, the FBI will identify, pursue, and impose costs and consequences on individuals, groups, or nation states who use cyber means to threaten the United States or U.S. interests.""
Could we take something out of theirs from a cyber-capacity?

I guess you could hack into Jong Un's pc and delete his porn stash.
That's about the only digital data in that country.
"They fell for it. Lets screw with Paramount now."
It's irrelevant what industry it is - the purpose to cyberwarfare is to disrupt a country one way or another, and an economic loss is just as good as a bomb if it's big enough.
Besides, today it's Sony, tomorrow they might be hacking into Cisco and planting malware into IOS code, you just can't let a nation state blatantly pull that kind of shit.
In response, North Korean citizens were overheard saying:
"What is a balloon?"
"What is a DVD""
"Uggh, James Franco is just the worst. Arent we done with him already?"
they were hidden in NK the whole time

Sony is a Japanese company. Shouldn't Japan be the one to take retaliatory measures?

I suppose if you were a giant pussy. The threats were made against US movie theaters.

Sony Pictures Entertainment is a US company.

But the parent company is Japanese, right?
Plus, is it really justified to attack a country for the actions of private citizens? Especially when that action was just a threat rather than actual violence?
Stuxnet wasn't the first time we've deployed malware militarily, it's just the first time something like that spread in the wild (and drew attention beyond that). There were examples in some of the documents that Snowden exposed of the types of tools that had been used by the NSA well in advance of that.

The loss was here, impacting US GDP and the lives of American citizens. The fact that the parent company was Japanese is irrelevant.
What year is it in your bunker?
KJU would probably find her fascinating but she is a living, breathing human virus. It's a win-win.
