Myers NYDN: Sunday Morning QB: If Jim, Rex fired, they'll land on feet
"-- Tom Coughlin: It appears he is coming back, but if John Mara wants him to fire defensive coordinator Perry Fewell after pushing aside offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride last year, it will be interesting to see if Coughlin makes that an issue or realizes a change — perhaps bringing back Steve Spagnuolo — is required. If Coughlin is out, or leaves in a year or two, the name I’m hearing to replace him is Notre Dame’s Brian Kelly, who sources say has NFL aspirations. Kelly is an accomplished offensive coach and he’s from Massachusetts. He’s a perfect Mara candidate."

pganut : 12/21/2014 10:37 am : link
Who he suggests will be headed to the Hall of Fame after what should be his last season, the current one. I looked up Gore's numbers because the suggestion that he'd be in a conversation about the Hall raised my eyebrows. Gore has 10,929 career yards (21st all time) and 64 rushing TDs (64th all time). 5 Pro Bowls.

I never thought of Gore as a HOFer and still don't, especially without a championship. Solid player with a great work ethic, though. Was the article a bit of hometown hyperbole, or do you think he's a legit HOF candidate?

Let's hope that the Fritz Pollard Alliance is 100% correct:
Bobby Epps : 12/21/2014 10:59 am : link
THAT FEWELL IS HIRED AS A HC and leaves the Giants.

I don't care how he leaves the Giants as long as he leaves.
A few points about Fewell's position on that list:
Big Blue Blogger : 12/21/2014 11:17 am : link
1) There aren't all that many seasoned, African-American coordinators in the NFL, so it's not a hard list to make;

2) Fewell does have some head coaching experience, and seems to have earned respect during his brief stint as interim HC in Buffalo (though not enough to keep the job against a rather weak field);

3) He has been near the top of that list for years.

I've long believed Fewell might be a better HC than DC. He seems to have a good temperament, and I think he's a well-organized, effective delegator. Doesn't mean he would succeed, or that he'll even get the chance; but I think fans who treat his candidacy as a joke are missing some strengths.
Ralph's advocacy of re-signing Rolle is pure fluff.
Big Blue Blogger : 12/21/2014 11:21 am : link
Would it be nice to have him back? Sure. Is he worth high-end - or even mid-range - starter money? The market will have to decide that one. At this stage of his career, Rolle can probably still command a pretty good salary. I just don't see the sense in giving him much guaranteed money. If any team will, I think you give him a hug and wish him well in Oakland, or wherever.
I hope some idiotic team out there does make the mistake
Dave in Hoboken : 12/21/2014 11:24 am : link
of hiring Perry. Take him off our hands, please.
Love the Rex Ryan Reference
Samiam : 12/21/2014 11:50 am : link
The Jets are going to fire a coach with 3 wins and Ryan is a candidate for 3 or 4 head coaching jobs in the NFL. Imagine how many job offers he'd have if he won 6 games.
