greg williams = scumbag

jcp56 : 12/21/2014 7:48 pm
After the bounty scandal in NO, late hits, not even borderline. There is no room for a DC like Williams
Agreed.

He's low-rent.
So

is Fisher. Biggest phony in the game and I've heard it from more than one pro coach.
It starts with Fisher....

Remember when we played the Titans in the infamous Kiwi almost-sack game? Same crap and that was their MO.

He's a loser who tries to compensate for his inability to get over the hump of mediocrity with dirty play.
Him and Fisher

i agree. both fisher and williams can fuck off
mattlawson : 12/21/2014 8:05 pm : link
fisher has always encouraged the chippy DB play, and now this horseshit. theres physical the way seattle and san fran D plays -- and theres talentless hack bullshit like we saw today.

no room.
So if the league "indefinitely suspends" a coordinator
Exit 172 : 12/21/2014 8:27 pm : link
for allowing his players to collect money for injuring opponents, and then that douchebag comes back to league and does what he did today...how can he stay in the league?

And Jeff "Many Losing Records" Fisher should get a closer look from the league, too.
There is absolutely no doubt that bounties were in play
Joey in VA : 12/21/2014 8:34 pm : link
Look at the late hits, but also the head tackles, diving at knees and trying to take heads off. None of it was fundamental or tough football. It looked like Alec Ogletree and McDonald needed some extra cash badly. Even late on Randle's catch in the red zone, McDonald launched himself at Randle's head, that's intent to injure.
Weirdest part is that Gregg Williams was Coughlin's first choice
jcn56 : 12/21/2014 8:37 pm : link
of DC, but apparently we took too long or were unwilling to pay to bring him here, and he ended up in DC.

Wonder if that part of Williams' game didn't show up until later, I find it hard to believe that TC would knowingly want anything to do with that POS.
they were dirty no doubt about it - multiple players and in
pjcas18 : 12/21/2014 8:38 pm : link
multiple facets but I'm very skeptical Williams would institute a bounty system again after very nearly losing his career.

NFL locker rooms aren't exactly well known for keeping secrets. it would leak - it takes one guy to talk and one guy who was cut, or doesn't play or leaves after the season will talk.

How else can you account for guys literally risking fines and penalties to get in head shots and take late hits on Williams, Randle and Beckham? They don't want to get fined, but clearly someone made that a non issue. Maybe Williams offered to pay the fines, something is fucking fishy.

And as for why? The bounty behavior is sociopathic, it's an injury for pay system, that is NOT normal, not acceptable and clearly not coming from a totally sane person. Why do drunk drivers get multiple DUIs? Why do people get arrested for the same shit over and over? Assholes with compulsion problems don't think, they just act how they wish, repercussions be damned.
Is there a gif of the play?
Mike in Philly : 12/21/2014 9:04 pm : link
Game wasn't televised in Philly.

maybe you're right, good examples. I have no explanation for it other than he's encouraging his players to play that way without a bounty system.
got his own players hurt
oghwga : 12/21/2014 9:08 pm : link
They were clearly trying to lay out beckham when he slipped out of trouble and they took their own players head off. One more impressive thing about beckham is how he senses the hits coming.

late hit

part 2

all hell breaks loose:

Even Thom Brennaman
Joey in VA : 12/21/2014 9:25 pm : link
The mild mannered and never controversial play by play guy said something about how dirty the Rams were playing. That's NOT something he opines on, most game commentators don't and he went outside the norm to point it out. I thought I was being paranoid after the first hit, but as the game went on, it just became clear those guys were trying to injure people and not just #13.
Dirty

Team. Good on the Gmen for fighting back hard
That was a very physical front 7...
Britt in VA : 12/21/2014 9:31 pm : link
and I was really impressed with how we matched, and exceeded their physicality without playing dirty. The offense really seemed to feed on it, and was capped off when Williams dropped it on the DB on that long run.

We've got a lot to look forward to on offense, IMO.

Brennaman said "one team is playing dirty and the other isn't," or words to that effect. He wouldn't say St Louis was and the Giants weren't. Nonetheless, as you say even that was unusual for him.

I used to think he was a great coach. Then after watching his teams continually cheap shot and try and injure players year after year one can do nothing but assume it comes straight from the top.

He's about as big a pile of shit as there is in the NFL. Williams works for him. They are two of a kind

Del - Before that he said something about the Rams specifically then he backtracked with that one but it was clear, well to me that he was putting it on the Rams. Diehl stayed neutral, I was impressed, but he sounded agitated a few times like he wanted to be down there.

Diehl made clear that as an OL he would step in if the opponent was trying to injure someone like SL was trying to injure OBJ.

I know not everyone likes Diehl as a commentator, but I do. I think he prepares hard for his assignments, he knows Coughlin and Eli well, and as for his clothes - hey, he's Croatian, he's a wild and crazy guy.
I think Diehl is awesome as a commentator.

It is crazy that Ogletree hits
Some Fan : 12/21/2014 10:49 pm : link
OBJ like 10 yards out of bounds then pushes him down by a punch to the helmet and does not get ejected. The officials should have ejected themselves at that point.
