Memo to front office....Perry Fewell is still a liability!

Chris L. : 12/21/2014 8:08 pm
Here we go again winning a bunch of games at the end of the year against back up QB's. While I have no problem with bringing Tom back I just hope this front office sees that we desperately need a change at DC. 27 points to the Rams??? The last touchdown was classic Perry...blown coverage with no one within 15 yards of the receiver...how many times have I seen that? As excited as I am about the possibilities of McAdoo's offense next year I am equally petrified about the return of Perry Fewell. Please assure me...like everyone did three weeks ago...that he won't be back.

Huge protests if Perry stays.

I have absolutely no doubt.
Blown Coverage
Samiam : 12/21/2014 8:24 pm : link
Why is a blown coverage necessarily the fault of the coach? They are playing backups to the backups. Do you think that maybe these players are not that good?? There's a reason that most of them have been cut from multiple teams.
It's not the blown coverages

that bother me..........it is the 4 man rush backed up with a soft zone that allows opposing quarterback and receivers play toss and catch all day.

There has been more aggression in the pass rush the past few weeks....but is there any doubt that if he were retained...he would return at the beginning of next year, when meaningful games begin again....to the same soft philosophy.

Look today what happened as soon as the Giants were ahead 20-3.. Did you see Kennard, who has been very effective rushing the passer, being used in that capacity they way he could be or had been the past two weeks. Did you see too much dependence on a 4 man rush, minus Moore.

Do we ever see him able to make adjustments. Do any of you have any doubt that with 2 minutes in the game, 10 point lead, that the Giants would have surrendered the 80 yards with little resistance, if it weren't for the Rams self-destructive

Fewell needs to be shown the door...
The Head Coach hires and fires his coaching staff

It is his responsibility not the front office to manage his coaches. Are you saying that the front office should assume Coughlin's responsibility? And I ask once again what is TC's role in this organization and his responsibility?

Do you really believe this? If so, my goodness you haven't been paying attention.

Herzlich, fading Rolle who can no longer run & a try-hard, average player like McLain. It hasn't been good enough against the good offenses. It still isn't. Nobody knows who is coming back. Can't see Rex Ryan taking a DC job with the other team in NYC after he has been an HC for the last six. The 7-second sequences against Romo might be what decides it. But Dallas has been tuning up everybody. Their offense is the best in the league just now. So......they'll fire him.
here is my guess for the future

TC gets a 2 year extension, but Fewell is gone
Excuses, excuses, excuses for Fewell- back-ups to

back-ups, etc.

Yet Sheridan had a defense that was decimated with injuries. Anyone sorry to see him go?

Same test should apply to Fewell: 350 yards on the dive option to Seattle, couldn't hold the lead with 3 minutes to go against Dallas and let a rookie like Bortles beat us, especially with the dive option.

What more does Fewell have to do to lose his job?

LOL, so you are saying that Coughlin isn't the Giants head coach or doesn't know his responsibility as head coach? Then what is the point of having him as a head coach? What do you believe is his role in the organization?

He should be fired
RobCarpenter : 12/21/2014 10:02 pm : link
Just for that Seattle game alone when the team didn't seem to know how to defend against the read option.

Last year the front office put the bad season on Gilbride, this year Fewell gets that treatment.
he stays
Rory : 12/21/2014 10:18 pm : link
teams coming off 3 possibly 4 game winning streak doesn't make sweeping changes like that.

Also not to blame it on injuries but come on, the secondary was decimated this year.

An he has JPP playing hard again.
Was that DRC on that play
Doomster : 12/21/2014 10:46 pm : link
or Webster? We have seen the same play from a Fewell defense, many times...the corner releases, and no one picks him up....

That was a Stevie Brown specialty. He made Webster look so bad on so many plays. He picked up Rolle's man and finally figured out he was covering the wrong side of the field when he saw Rolle covering but couldn't make it back in time. Just review the Redskins at MetLife game from 2014. I haven't seen that out of him for awhile though.
