His hands are the best I have ever seen, just amazing. Believe me though, he is not LT. Great players have to do it over time. He has a slight build and that is a concern. I wonder if the hammy is still bothering him, as incredible as he has been, he really hasn't had many explosive plays after the catch. When that gear kicks in, he will be even better. Hope he doesn't let the hype get to him. Only a couple of years ago RG3 was seen as the second coming by most, although I told everyone he sucked and was a piece of shit, on this very board. Not sure I agree. I've never seen a player like a WR like beckham. I can't believe how good he is. Given the fact that the Rams were out for ODB's blood today, he not only kept going at them but ramped it up a bit, and the rest of the offense (Randle in particular) fed off of that.
They were/are both special as physical specimen. LT was a crazy combo of speed and strength. ODB's speed is impressive, but his ridiculous coordination is other-worldly.

He's not only the runaway OROY at this point, but he's also arguably the 2nd half OPOY. He's a phenom and I hope he ends the season in style next week.
beyond the stats, beyond the records, beyond the highlights or even "the catch" is that there have now been a few instances of experts breaking down film on Beckham, and the common theme is that he does indeed look uncoverable, he gets so much separation on his routes/breaks it looks indefensible. Sherman had problems with it, the ability to stop start his route and change direction without losing speed is amazing.
The play where the threw the pass off the reverse, he was going full speed and the suddenness when he finally decided to stop running and throw it was insane. No slowing down, no chopping his feet, no skidding...just full speed and then an instant stop. It was like watching a hummingbird.
In the Rams game, after the safety tried to take his head off, I thought they were gunning so hard just to get a hit on him that they were due for a double move, they just had to give Eli and extra second. The very next play Beckham fakes an out route and gets the safety to bite hard and then just blows right by him, it was perfection.
I won't be shocked if Beckham makes one of the all pro teams, as a second teamer, I think he should.

I think a more apt and recent comparison is Shockey. Just forget about the way it ended and think of his rookie year, the excitement he brought to the fans, the field, and in turn his teammates. There was a feeling that anything could happen and there were more than a few eye-popping plays like the jump ball over Dawkins. I know I haven't been head over heels for a rookie like this since Shockey's rookie year. And it's the same thing with Beckham-when he takes the field the passion is evident, often infectious, and anything can happen.

The people dismissing Beckhams rookie impact to LTs realize that we're just talking about rookie years right? Despite how dominant LT was as a rookie, there were no guarantees that he would keep up that pace beyond his first season, the same holes true for Odell. But talking rookie impact? Sort of apples and oranges but odell may be the best offensive player in football (non qb) over the last 11 games and is arguably having the strongest rookie WR season in nfl history (obviously loudest argument coming from moss).
He's special. He's 5'11, with all the benefits that come with a lower center of gravity, that can play like a 6'5 reciever thanks to a confluence of genetic anomalies. He's more dangerous than the "nfl prototype".

Good post..Told my son tonight he is a once in a lifetime player much like LT was, and he is lucky to see him on our team.
after his first practice. Watched him make QB's like Ron Jaworski literally not take his eyes off of him every play. He dominated and changed the Giants from being a mess into a team to be feared. It is OK to compare the impact they each have had on their rookie seasons. This isn't dissing LT. OBJ will probably break at least one record this week.

The play that stands out to me is the crossing route he took in for a TD against Washington. Ridiculous speed...it reminded me of the TD Mike Wallace scored for Pittsburgh against us in the first game after Hurricane Sandy.

Randy Moss you could toss a blanket over if you got rough with him at the LOS and put someone over the top but 13 runs every route like its his last and you can put him anywhere and he can beat anyone. He abused Richard Sherman and Sherman may talk but the dude can play and Beckham abused him. He's dare I say uncoverable, even when covered he can get to the ball on the back shoulder, or low or high or outside, I've never seen anyone do that. He's putting up the same numbers Plaxico Burress did in a full season with 5 less games, at 5-11 and with a shaky OL and running game.
He is the best football player I've seen on this team since LT. There is no answer for him, he is a game changer every time he's on the field. I am comparing him to LT, no doubt in my mind he's got the same impact and has the same differential talent level.

Calvin Johnson's 1,964 yards in 2012 is the single-season record. There has never been a WR in the history of this league who has gained 2,000 yards in a season, and here comes Odell Beckham playing at that level for half the season.
He's not only the runaway OROY at this point, but he's also arguably the 2nd half OPOY. He's a phenom and I hope he ends the season in style next week.
The play where the threw the pass off the reverse, he was going full speed and the suddenness when he finally decided to stop running and throw it was insane. No slowing down, no chopping his feet, no skidding...just full speed and then an instant stop. It was like watching a hummingbird.
In the Rams game, after the safety tried to take his head off, I thought they were gunning so hard just to get a hit on him that they were due for a double move, they just had to give Eli and extra second. The very next play Beckham fakes an out route and gets the safety to bite hard and then just blows right by him, it was perfection.
I won't be shocked if Beckham makes one of the all pro teams, as a second teamer, I think he should.
He's special. He's 5'11, with all the benefits that come with a lower center of gravity, that can play like a 6'5 reciever thanks to a confluence of genetic anomalies. He's more dangerous than the "nfl prototype".
On the other hand, OBJ is a freakin' amazing WR...LT was only OK at wideout.

The things he is doing right now with no other weapons on the team are mind boggling. Every team that plays the giants plans to double/triple team him and they still cant stop him. He is going to tie michael irvin's consecutive 90+ receiveing yards streak next week and he is a rookie. To think about how good this kid is going to be in two or three years gives us great hope for another championship with Eli.
Since we have been eliminated from the playoffs I have been referring to Giants games as the Odell Beckham show, and what a show it is. It is must watch TV. Again I can't compare him to LT, but god damn is this kid unbelievably good. The Giants have a bright future ahead with OBJ leading the way.
How many times have we heard about a talented rookie that missing training camp and pre-season was going to ruin their rookie year? Well, he missed a lot more than that, but there was one thing he didn't miss: a step.

Good post..Told my son tonight he is a once in a lifetime player much like LT was, and he is lucky to see him on our team.
Our offense would be SPECIAL.
Guys like him don't come around very often, let's hope he fulfills his potential and gets even better.
If Cruz is Cruz when he returns...wow, what a scary tandem of WR's...

No one ever talked about Victor Cruz the way they are talking about Odell Beckham Jr. right now.
And again, I hate to diminish Cruz because I love the guy and it shouldn't be about that but Beckham looks like the best offensive player in the entire league right now.
Cruz averaged 96 YPG in 2011, 18.7 yards per catch (a big-play machine) on only 5 catches a game.

I would put Beckham's catch against Dallas up against Cruz's 99 yard TD against the Jets.
We have people comparing the impact OBJ is having right now to Lawrence fucking Taylor and it's not even a crazy comparison. No one was saying that about Cruz in 2011.
There is also no 2011 Hakeem Nicks or Mario Manningham taking attention away from Beckham. Every team is saying "we have to stop #13" going into these games and they still can't do it.
Beckham is also lining up all over the field. In the backfield, under center, slot, split wide.. he's a freak athlete doing ridiculous things on the football field.

Only Irvin did it in his sixth year in the NFL, well in his prime. OBJ is about to accomplish that feat as a rookie.

I agree.
The play that stands out to me is the crossing route he took in for a TD against Washington. Ridiculous speed...it reminded me of the TD Mike Wallace scored for Pittsburgh against us in the first game after Hurricane Sandy.
Beckham just looks unusual when he's playing.
