I can just picture Fisher and Williams firing up the defense during the week. "This kid Beckham's been dominating teams, let's put the rookie in his place." etc. Then he goes out there and smokes them. Perfect.
He is galvanizing for the team too, they fight their asses for him when he is targeted and he just energizes the entire team. He elevates everyone around him, it's truly amazing how spectacular he's been.

Which is the same exact thing our last 5-6 opponents have come out all fired up to do...and OBJ has torched them all
Yeah, it is like his teammates don't want to allow his great performances to go to waste by losing the game so they all play just that much harder. He has lifted the entire team.
better than any rookie i've ever seen. Plus his speed and explosiveness, makes him a deadly player. The rams tried to get him out of the game by getting into his head.
Question: What do OBJ and LB Mark Herzlich have in common? Â
but he is not on LT's level. Very few players in the history of the NFL are on that level. Beckham is a great player but he is not going to change the game like LT did.

The fact that with all that was going on in the game today that he still maintained his head and played above it was impressive! Everybody knows he's getting the ball but they have yet to be able to slow him down.
Teams know exactly who he is, they know what he's capable of, gameplan to stop him and they still just can't do it no matter what they try. No one has an answer for him.
What he's doing right now is nothing short of incredible.
May this man have a long, healthy career... because if he does, he's going to do some unbelievable things.
but he is not on LT's level. Very few players in the history of the NFL are on that level. Beckham is a great player but he is not going to change the game like LT did.
Maybe I missed it but I don't think anyone claimed that he was.
And speaking of style, how about Dave Diehl: an ill-fitting suit Â
Beckham doesn't have the 2011 versions of Nicks and Manningham to take a little attention away from him. He's THE guy on this offense and everyone knows it. They still can't stop him.
He has freakish abilities than Cruz just doesn't.
I'm not trying to downplay Victor Cruz here but Beckham has already this year made about 10 different catches that have made people go "how the... how the fuck did he do that?"

On the team, I have no doubt about that. Strahan had the same impact in his later years, Armstead had it, Jacobs and Bradshaw had it on offense. He is the galvanizer we need, the one guy who will go off and make his teammates better. He plays with intensity and it rubs off on everyone.
As for the LT game changing thing, I really wouldn't say that he can't be that yet. He's been doubled, bumped, bracketed, hit late, had inside out thrown at him, and nothing slows him down. Randy Moss you could toss a blanket over if you got rough with him at the LOS and put someone over the top but 13 runs every route like its his last and you can put him anywhere and he can beat anyone. He abused Richard Sherman and Sherman may talk but the dude can play and Beckham abused him. He's dare I say uncoverable, even when covered he can get to the ball on the back shoulder, or low or high or outside, I've never seen anyone do that. He's putting up the same numbers Plaxico Burress did in a full season with 5 less games, at 5-11 and with a shaky OL and running game.
He is the best football player I've seen on this team since LT. There is no answer for him, he is a game changer every time he's on the field. I am comparing him to LT, no doubt in my mind he's got the same impact and has the same differential talent level.
I watched LT come onto the scene. He was unstoppable and played with abandon. So does OBJ, except he started later in the season than LT.
The thing is, that other teams had to game plan against LT. They had to account for him on every play he was on the field.
OBJ makes other teams game plan against him, and he plays with the same type of abandon and ability.
The difference right now ? LT made a major impact to the game year after year. It remains to be seen whether OBJ will do that - will he get injured ? Will his head get too big ? We will have to wait and see. But for his impact for the last 7-8 weeks, it is a beauty to behold.
absolutely, but the love that Cruz was able to generate his breakout season was pretty special as well. would love to see these 2 guys really do something together next year. Randle showed something today as well.
Kid is the light and the truth! I love the fact that he is so nasty. He must be a world class trash talker because he sure does get under the skin of the DBs he's smoking.
As much as I love this rookie, he ain't LT. Guys, seriously, LT is the greatest defensive football player ever. He changed the game. There was no one like LT before he played and there hasn't been anyone like him since he played. He was the best of the best. So, like Tuna said, "let's not put him in Canton yet".
At least as a rookie? It's a long career, I get that, but rookie to rookie, potential only, absolutely he's LT on offense. He is a marked man on a team with a shaky OL and running game and nondescript other WRs right now and he's killing people.
Did you see the 80 yarder? He was bracketed and one stutter step pushed the safety one step outside and Beckham flew past him like the dude was in concrete. He was accounted for, it was Cover 2 man under and the S had his eyes on Beckham and one little move disabled him and made a ridiculously easy TD pass.
Has to account for him on every play. The LT of the offense, why not. It's a loose comparison, but name me a Giants rookie (on offense) that has had this kind of impact this soon. He is dominant out there. Let's keep in mind this Rams team beat the Broncos and the Seahawks. They are better than their record, but the Giants are starting to find their identity on offense, and it's an identity that dictates terms!
His hands are the best I have ever seen, just amazing. Believe me though, he is not LT. Great players have to do it over time. He has a slight build and that is a concern. I wonder if the hammy is still bothering him, as incredible as he has been, he really hasn't had many explosive plays after the catch. When that gear kicks in, he will be even better. Hope he doesn't let the hype get to him. Only a couple of years ago RG3 was seen as the second coming by most, although I told everyone he sucked and was a piece of shit, on this very board. Got some negative reaction too! I hope Beckham can keep his head on straight. New York is a tough place with sudden fame.
Odell is really reall good but is not LT. If you have been a long time Giants fan -- since 1970 -- then you have seen a lot of great players come and go in the NFL and LT is still the single best talent to ever enter the league.
He changed the game completely. He was extremely fast, he was extremely strong, he was extremely quick. But best part? His motor never ever stopped and he had the will to win that I've only seen in one other athlete, Michael Jordan.
Odell has been really great -- maybe the 2nd best rookie I've ever seen (Shockey is up there too) but he just is not in the LT class. Not that this is anything to be ashamed of, no NFL player has ever been.
but he is not on LT's level. Very few players in the history of the NFL are on that level. Beckham is a great player but he is not going to change the game like LT did.
Not sure I agree. I've never seen a player like a WR like beckham. I can't believe how good he is. He may never be this good again, be it injury or just the stars falling out of alignment by next year. But at this very moment there is not a better football player on the planet. Beckham, right this very moment is as good as any player. But things can change real quick in the nfl so just knock wood, sacrifice a live fucking chicken, pray, whatever you gotta do... Hope this guy beckham stays exactly the way he is for a long long time. He doesn't have to get better. He's already fucking perfect.
Beckham has undoubtably had an LT like impact on the entire franchise. If beckham plays all 16 we are 9-7 just like we were in 81 during LT's rookie year. And I remember that year like it was yesterday.
Again, a lot can happen but right now no WR has ever topped what beckham has done these last 10 games or so. He Iooks like an xbox controlled player.
No one is saying this guy will revolutionize the position like LT did, but beckham is perfecting his craft like few players have. LT being one one of those players....
and I agree, ODB is reminiscent of LT's rise back in the day.
They're similar in that both had to be accounted for every single play; they had the ability to take games over, and coordinators spent the majority of their time trying to negate their impact.
They were both energizing characters, with the rest of their unit feeding off of their individual performances. LT could will that defense to victory, even when he was severely injured. Given the fact that the Rams were out for ODB's blood today, he not only kept going at them but ramped it up a bit, and the rest of the offense (Randle in particular) fed off of that.
They were/are both special as physical specimen. LT was a crazy combo of speed and strength. ODB's speed is impressive, but his ridiculous coordination is other-worldly.
LT obviously did it for many years, and earned the HOF. We've only seen Beckham for a little more than half a season, but the early returns are promising.
many thought they had a chance to be the best NYG wide receiver ever. After only 11 games, OBJ has easily eclipsed both of them in this "potential" category.
Yes, I'm sober
Who was the last Giant on the offensive side of the ball to garner this kind of excitement, Gifford?
Which is the same exact thing our last 5-6 opponents have come out all fired up to do...and OBJ has torched them all
For Herzlich it's no big deal, but if OBJ want to be on the pages of GQ along with Cruz, or get a ton of endorsement $$$, he better switch barbers.

There are no valid comparisons anymore, Beckham looks like a new species.
Cruz is an excellent player and we all love him but he was never on this level.

cmon....

Cruz did have 1536 yards his breakout year...
It's been a while since, so we may be forgetting.
He has freakish abilities than Cruz just doesn't.

1,120 yards
11 touchdowns
In his first 11 NFL games.
I know we are all in awe but just let those numbers sink in for a moment.

Now, if we can only get that on defense.
