I apologize since this is probably a stupid question, but I watched the game at a bar in Michigan without sound.
I saw what looked like two flagrant personal fouls on the Rams, one for a late hit out of bounds and the second for a shove to the facemask after the play. Then a fight breaks out. When it was over, we lose two guys for the game (Parker and Moore) and the Rams lose one. And we get a net 15 yard penalty.
The Rams DB who started it all doesn't get ejected when he clearly should have been for two personal fouls on the same play, and it seems like those fouls don't get called at all.
I know the refs spent 5 minutes discussing it and Mike Pereira weighed in about it, but I couldn't hear any of that. WTH happened? Thanks!
The ref had a really hard time communicating the ramifications of that melee.
(Multiple fouls means more than 1 penalty on a team.)
However, 14-3 says that "A foul against an official is not part of a Multiple Foul and will be enforced in addition to any other foul."
The ref said the Giants committed a foul against an official. So it appears that one is not offset.
Parker was going to get tossed, he was throwing punches. Moore grabbed someone from behind, not sure if he ended up swinging or caused the penalty against the ref.
The league will review tape, I'd expect more fines.
The fact that this all exploded on our sidelines made a lot more opportunity for our guys to jump in and get tossed.
Moore grabbed a Ram by the head and ripped his helmet off, essentially attempting to decapitate the scumbag. Again, from what I saw, that's why he got tossed.
Good for the Giants coming to Beckham's aid. If another teams tries the same shit they ought to do the same thing again.
And don't think for a second that those thumpers on the Rams QB were not related. They were, and they should be.
Reminds me of Leonard Marshall's hit on Montana after Jim Burt tried to end Hostetler's career. If anyone tries to hurt Beckham then the Giants take it out on their quarterback. That message will come through load and clear. The first QB that gets taken off on a stretcher will give opposing defenses pause when they try to hurt Beckham
The Giants have to protect Beckham. It seems to me that the league is out to get the kid.
btw, Rico, did you really run a 2:50 at age 46? I recently ran 6 miles, averaging 7:50 a mile and I felt like I was sprinting. I consider myself to be in really good shape for a man in his 40s. Unbelievable that you clocked a 2:50.
2nd Penalty: OBJ for punching ball into DB or Parker on Ram player (most likely Parker i think)
Those cancel out?
3rd Penalty: Whoever had penalty against Ref most likely Moore, 15 yarder
So we get 1st & 25

But Beckham did not make a first down and these were all after the play was over. The personal foiuls offset which keep it at 2nd and whatever then the foul involving an official is enforced. Therefore the down counts and it is 2nd Down (as that was the 1st Down play) from 15 yards further back
Wow. Just wow.
I agree with Hammer, give Parker an extension. Solid 4th WR/special teamer and great teammate.
