I am sick of watching other teams target OBJ, trying to knock him off of his game or maybe go as far as knocking him out of the game, as was the case with the Rams. Washington had much the same approach but without the ugliness, as did Jacksonville and Tenn to a certain degree.
Of course "the catch" against Dallas put OBJ on everyone's radar and every DB wants to show their stuff against the boy wonder. But personally I am sick of watching OBJ having to take cheap shots on many plays (or having to avoid them on every play). I hope Mara goes to the NFL with game tape and asks that it be stopped, that refs do their job and equally protect all players from the dirty play like we saw yesterday.
I'm not against good strong DB play like Richard Sherman did against OBJ, I'm against the dirty play that most teams take when playing against him.
I'm getting off of my soapbox now.
After reviewing the tape I think the Giants need the Leauge to take a look at this!!! It's one thing to have a hard tackle, but all the late hits and the players launching themselves is ridiculous!

I said this on another thread. The Giants need to knock another teams quarterback into tomorrow. That'll put all this shit to rest.
Think Bert/Hostetler and Marshall/Montana.
All he needs to do is look at some of the greatest NFL's WR's films and watch how they acted when scoring or getting a completion. I know everyone will say you have to celebrate but he looks not like everyone else he could be on his way to becoming one of the best ever. When and if that happens will he want to be remembered as a showboat or gentleman on the field. He says he is getting great advice from present and past great players they hold that status because they remained on the field of play.
Go home find something simple that's all yours but does not show up the opponent. It could be something just as simple as giving the ball to the referee. The path he is on right now is not the path that will have opponents talking about him with respect after the game.
For the entire first half you could see it building and then Ogletree does what he does inciting a brawl after not only hittng him way out of bounds but piles on after Beckham objects and then all hell breaks loose. The end result, Ogletree remains in the game, two Giants players get ejected, and then the Giants are penalized and they have a second down and twenty five to boot.
If that's not enough a Ram's safety McDonald launches himself on a slant play in the third quarter for no other reason then to obliterate Beckham who sidesteps it and McDonald nearly dicapitates his teammate. Of course Beckham then burns their assess with that 80 yard bomb. It's no secret that Greg Williams being their DC this shit show of dirty play was on display.
If this is not good enough reason to kick his ass out of football for good I don't know what is.
And He is definetly a shit talker
He clearly tries to get under the heir skin
- The penalty was thrown on him not for spinning the ball and the dance, he's done that more or less every time he scored. The penalty was thrown because he spun the ball at/near the feet of McDonald Jr. as he came over and the ref interpreted that as taunting. If he was by himself and did it, there wouldn't have been a penalty. Go back and watch the replay and you'll see it. However, clearly this is on Coughlin's radar either way to tone it down. Beckham doesn't need his dance to get our attention anymore.
- The NFL should absolutely look into what the Rams did during the game. Gregg Williams is already on a short leash. Fisher has a history of this crap. And, bottom line, let's be realistic, it's not good from the NFL brand/marketing to see a young superstar playing in the NY market get shots taken at him. Remember, money, above all else matters to the NFL. Player safety is lip service due to the lawsuits. Don't kid yourselves. If other teams see the Rams get away with this, you don't think others will do the same? I'd say Philly would do it this weekend, but I think they've packed it in for the year and the Giants are going to kick dirt on them on Sunday.
Last week when he scored one of his touchdowns he spun the ball then squatted and put his hands over the ball like he as warming them. He's not the only guy who has done that. It's not any different when a guy scores a touchdown, crosses his arms in defiance of the crowd, then puts his finger over his lips as if to tell the crowd hush. To me that is taunting as well.
So where do you draw the line. If this shit keeps up the NFL may have to rewrite the rule on endzone celebration. Or any other kind of celebrations that occur in the middle of the field when a guy acts like a jackass just because he made a play. To me that's taunting as well.
Watch him on the field. He respects his opponent to the utmost. And after the game, the opponent seems to gush about him. I think a very telling moment of who OBJ is was his last TD yesterday. How did he react after the Rams mocked him and Cruz salsa? He picked the ball up, went straight to the refund handed him the ball. That was incredibly impressive composure, especially for a young kid, after what the Rams tried to do to him all game long.
when he throws spinning ball.
Tc should tell to stop...just dance
I hate that fuggin' guy and his band of thugs.

Whether OBJ dances after TD's or not, he'll be a marked man because he makes the other team look foolish when they try to cover him.
He dropped the ball, did a little pose for the fans and then went back and picked up the ball and tossed it to the ref.
Lesson learned.

Lesson learned from what?
A penalty after his first TD? Yes.
From getting hit by the opposing player? Not really.
So what lesson did he learn? Or are you just making shit up in your mind?

The whole thing was being sarcastic
I did not like Fisher previously but now I f'ing hate the guy.
Nah, man. OBJ definitely learned his lesson not to piss off the opposing players because he was afraid of getting killed out there.

Has nothing to do with Beckham or protecting any player. It's just poor sportsmanship.
It's a fucking entertainment, and these are athletic entertainers. Get out of here with the "poor sportsmanship" bullshit. Go back to watching high school football if you want your good sportsmanship games.
Or Ivy League.
Getting into the opposing teams' faces and taunting is bad sportsmanship. Celebrating after a TD on their own is not bad sportsmanship.

+ 1
he was all alone in the corner of the endzone, so when he caught it he TURNED TOWARDS THE ENDZONE CROWD and spun the ball then did his dance
is it OBJ's fault that the St. Louis DB decided to keep moving in towards his "area" while he was celebrating the TD!?!?!
I thought that was friggen ridiculous. only happened that the piece of shit ref decided that he MUST have been taunting because OBJ who does the same shit EVERY TIME must have been in this guys face on this occassion.
it was impossible that OBJ did his TD dance where he caught the ball and that the defensive back got in HIS area.
it was atrocious and I can see why OBJ was pissed off.
the refs were determined to try and cost us the game and did not keep the cheating illegal hitting piece of shit Rams in check with flags on their end
This crap rests squarely on John Mara's shoulders. He is a team owner AND on the player safety committee. If Mara doesn't get the NFL's attention on yesterday's disgrace, then fuck it, the NFL becomes a free-for-all.
I'd guess Mara has already begun contact with the NFL to set up an emergency meeting where the game will be reviewed. We may not hear about it, but I'd bet it has or will happen.
The Rams player was the one coming towards Beckham, presumably to talk trash, not the other way around.
Lighten up will ya? I'm sure you're all just a ball of fun at parties.
Odell Beckham has burst onto the scene with extraordinary talent and marketing ability that will benefit everyone including ticket sales, advertising revenue, and everything else associated with league income
I believe there will be serious discussions with officials, competition committee members, team coaches, et al about unnecessary violence targeted at any player like Beckham who garners interest and income for the NFL at this level
look how they changed the rules for quarterbacks and wide receivers, the 2 marquee income producing positions on any NFL team
the whole issue will get serious consideration by the league, as well it should
I thought it was a sarcastic shot at the refs, to tell you the truth....
Homer Jones! See what you started? That simple slam the ball into the turf after a td, has escalated into this....it's all Homer's fault!
I think TC told him to be careful not to leave his celebration open to a bad interpretation by the fers
Call me a 'get off my lawn' old geezer, but to me acting with humility garners far more respect than look at me antics, especially because everything about his play will have people looking at him and respecting him.
that said, dirty play has no place in sports. hard ass knocking someone off their game is welcome, and I wish the Giants engaged in it in a controlled manner.
meh....they all are harmless
Not every team is the Tennessee Titans, just gonna sit there and kick rocks while the Giants act like a Fox cameramen.
I hope he doesn't change a thing
