Just to put a little perspective on it. If Eli starts the Philly game, his streak will be at 167 regular season games. The all-time leader is Brett Farve at 297. That's another 130 games. For Eli to break the record, he will have to play 9 more seasons, until age 43. He's 43 games behind Peyton for second place. He'd need to play 3 seasons more than Peyton to pass him.
but favre didn't play till he was 43... did he start right away, or no in ATL etc...?
Eli started ASAP like what 9 games into a season that doesn't seem to make sense to me

Favre was just under 23 when his streak started, Eli was about 2 months short of 24. Favre played until he was a couple of months past 41. He played 6 games less than 19 full seasons. Eli would actually have to play just 3 games of the ninth season to pass him.
F Favre again!
F Favre again!
actually 8 seasons + 3 games to break the record...
8x16+3 = 131
Huh??
+1 not to take anything away from Eli who is tough as nails, but Favre really was remarkably resilient notwithstanding all the self-medication!
Favre and Peyton started a ton of playoff games, too, during their streaks. Eli can add 11 games to his streak.

I think Favre had 24 playoff starts in addition to the 297 regular season.
