BYU
#4 S Daniel Robertson 61/205
BYUs top defender when it comes to NFL potential. Good sized cornerback that can move around and fill multiple roles along the defensive backfield. If I had to guess, I think trams will look at him as a safety. There is a nice blend of size/speed/quickness here but he is pretty raw when it comes to vital cornerback technique. Late round prospect here.
#5 LB Alani Fua 65/234
Ive only seen Fua once this season but I also have some notes from 2013 when I was scouting Van Noy. Fua has the NFL body and physicality to get noticed by NFL teams. He is an easy mover that shows quick reaction and fast movement. His versatility is a huge plus, as he can rush the edge but also play a safety/bandit type role in coverage. Late rounder.
MEMPHIS
#97 DE Martin Ifedi 63/275
1st Team All conference. Memphis all time sack leader. Ifedi plays all over the place in the teams 3-4 front. Had a knee injury that forced him to miss 4+ games earlier in the year, so he had a light season statistically. Love the frame and power presence he brings to the table. Hes big and physical. Just looks like a guy that is too strong for the college game. Limited athlete and might be best suited as a 3-4 DE if he can out some more weight on. Top tier intangibles off the field. Likely a late rounder but could sneak his way in to round 4 or 5.
#13 LB Tank Jakes 511/227
Co-Defensive Player in the American Athletic Conference. Had a big year statistically (15.5 TFL and 6 sacks). Saw him three times and his numbers are a tad inflated but hes a player. Smart and savvy. Flows towards the ball. Plays a low pad level game and is hard to block. Hes the kind of LB that some will label to be too small but all he does is make plays. Hard hitter that has the physical presence you want on defense. Late rounder.
#21 CB Bobby McCain 510/190
First team all conference. Really quick and fast. For teams that value the athleticism over size, they will like McCain. He is really smooth. Has shown the knack to make the big play. Has 4 pick 6s over his career. Anticipates and pounces out of his backpedal with ease. Can flip his hips and change direction. Questionable speed downfield and physicality in traffic. Late rounder but with his ability to return kicks I think he is a sure thing to get drafted.
Leslie is the only Sr at the position. I guess you could mention him but I can't see him making it anywhere in the NFL past training camp.
