The Giants expect Larry Donnell to take another big leap forward in 2015.
According to ESPN Giants reporter Dan Graziano, the team believes in Donnell as its starting tight end. They think he'll "develop into a dynamic player who is a huge part of Ben McAdoo's offense." Donnell got off to a torrid start to the season, scoring six touchdowns the first 11 weeks. But the past five games, Donnell has averaged just three catches for 32 yards per game with zero scores. With Victor Cruz returning to full health behind Odell Beckham in 2015, Donnell should be no higher than No. 3 in line for targets. He's going to have to make his hay in the red zone.

I can surmise how they feel about him without hearing them say it due to the fact they don't play him after almost 3 full seasons and they play UDFA's and street free agents over him.
Don't you think it would be a fair and logical deduction that if they liked his play, they'd play him? If they felt he gave the team a better chance to win, don't you think they'd play him?
My comments on here are not my opinion, they're logical deductions based on the evidence.
My own feelings about him are irrelevant.
I'll take him.
I'd love it if the Giants signed or drafted Howard Cross type in the off season.
Bonus points for no injuries. (Knock on wood)
Donnell needs a complement at TE
Donnell should be seen as an important part of the plans. He's an inexpensive but quality starting player who gets a bad rap by many on BBI.
Average TE at best. We'll see.
and many think he is 'average"
Run high step, Run like Roger Craig.
Mark my words,Larry Donnell is gonna be in the Ring Of Honor one day.
He's a better blocker than Donnell, but I wouldn't cite Witten anymore as something the Giants need to keep up with.
Ertz?
Outside of his last game where Sanchez targeted him a whopping 18 times, he has mostly been a non factor this year. In 12 of his 14 other games he was held under 50 yards recieving and has caught 5 or more passes only two times all year long.
Ertz is not much of a benchmark.
1 year..now that he showed
talent he'll want $$$!
Which is even more restrictive than RFA.
Giants only need to offer the vet min to him (on a one year deal) and if they do, I believe he has to sign it.
You know what is going to happen, by the time Donnell is as close to a complete player as he can be, he will sign with another team.

He's a free agent....someone might make an attractive offer....

exclusive rights free agent I believe
Do you believe 60 catches is more important than a TE who is a very good blocker that you can run and pass block with and only catches 40 passes?
Ideally you want a guy to bring both, but that is very rare. Players like Gronk or Jason Witten do not grow on trees.
The blocking aspect cannot be overlooked. In order for the team to get back to the consistent, powerful running game we all want them to be able to get back to, they obviously need to upgrade the line. But they also cannot have a TE who is going to play a lot of snaps and be a near zero in that area.
That's less than off-the-street journeyman Kevin Ogletree who was only signed week 7.
It's pretty obvious it's no secret the Giants are not impressed with Robinson and I doubt he makes the team next year.
I know the Patriots are not a perfect franchise, but one thing they're good at is recognizing draft mistakes and moving on. they've had 2nd round busts with guys like Chad Jackson and Ras-I-Dowling and they didn't last through their rookie deals.
To say the Giants should or would keep Robinson because he's under contract and affordable (when he's shown zero in three seasons) is a terrible perspective on building a 53-man roster, and I hope the Giants don't share that point of view.
This about sums it up. Well put, pj.
I'm baffled by the Giants still supplying a roster spot for Robinson. C'mon. It's been 3 freegin' years already. Give it up.
However, if the price is right, he's coming back because the draft isn't full of TE talent, and I don't see the Giants forking over big FA bucks for some other team's.
Whatever, Julius Thomas is a free agent right? Donnell can be the #2 TE
I don't know...right now, he can't block at all.....he tends to go down awkwardly....and there are the fumble issues....only the Giants have an idea of how good this guy is and can be.....But like I said, if they force him to accept vet min, it can go against them the following year...
I can the Pats landing him. Brady would he Davis and Gronk.
The guy I'm really hoping comes on and finally shows us something is TE Robinson. He has deep speed you rarely find. I totally realize he hasn't done much in limited duty but I have hope.
I mean, if Robinson did come on we'd have a solid 1-2 punch at TE for 2015.
