Bring in a nasty RT, reshuffle the O-line, and add a blocking TE and I think this offense is above average.

The defense. Bring in everybody. :(

This probably seals Fewell's fate, and gets us a top 10 pick. I was rooting for a win, but big picture this was a no-lose situation.
No major injuries to Eli, OBJ or Wiliams

JPP played well enough to prove he needs to get paid. Fewell should sill be fired as should Quinn. Tom and McAdoo should stay. Sign Iupati, extend Eli, sign JPP.

The Defense needs lots of players. Special Teams? Let's just say the next Gunner they block will be their first. Kudos though to Josh Brown who had a good season.

They haven't beat a playoff caliber team who wasn't starting a backup QB since November 2012.
Typical Eagles/Giants game under Coughlin.
St. Jimmy : 12/28/2014 4:22 pm : link
Offense goes cold with 3 and outs early. Try to establish the run leads to 3rd and long. Game changing plays in favor of the Eagles. Fall behind by 14+ early fourth quarter. Pull within 8. Two drives to tie it with plays being run with under three seconds on the playclock. Bad turnover by Eli. Every fourth quarter where the Giants lose to these pieces of shit follows thd same script.
Couldn't
AcidTest : 12/28/2014 4:23 pm : link
beat anybody good all year. No run game. Bad OL play overall. No coverage LBs (again). Many miscommunications in the secondary. Got nothing from TEs all year except Donnell's game against the even more dreadful Redskins.

Team needs a mauling guard, LB, S, and DT. Have other holes, but they can't all be fixed in one year.

Interesting to see what happens with JPP and Rolle. Could see both being gone.

Hope Berhe is OK.

Sorry, should clarify the draft order
dpinzow : 12/28/2014 4:25 pm : link
Assuming OAK loses to DEN

1. TB (2-14, .490 SOS)
2. TEN (2-14, .506 SOS)
3. JAX (3-13, .514 SOS)
4. OAK (3-13, but a very high SOS around .570)
5. WSH (4-12, .479 SOS)
6. NYJ (4-12, .542 SOS)
7. CHI (5-11)
8. NYG or ATL (6-10). If ATL loses they pick 8th because we have the stronger SOS; if ATL wins we pick 8th

STL can't pick ahead of us even if they lose today and finish 6-10 because they will end with a stronger SOS.

New Orleans won so they finished 7-9. The worst Carolina can do is 6-9-1 so we also pick ahead of them regardless...that's why we want a Falcons win
We need to get a good Defensive player
JoeyBigBlue : 12/28/2014 4:26 pm : link
In the first round. I don't see us retaining JPP or Rolle, so we need a playmaker on that side of the ball. That and a guard in the 2nd round would be nice.
how many times has Eli ended a season with

Adding a stud to the OL
Steve in South Jersey : 12/28/2014 4:26 pm : link
would raise the level of the whole line. A 2-way TE is needed too. The defense needs just about everything including a new DC.

none of the big names got career ending injuries, we get a better pick and we have a glimpse of the near future of this team. They have the foundation of a playoff caliber team, they just need the leadership.
Hopefully they part ways with Fewtile and find a vet or two that can help with the on-field leadership this team lacks.

Spring training is about two months away.

despite a pretty good job by the Eagles' secondary and Rueben Randle. I'm still EXTREMELY skeptical about this 2 game run, but he looked excellent.

Negative:

- Perry Fewell must be fired. How many times are guys wide open as if no one knew they were eligible receivers? E-fucking-nough already.

- JD Walton & John Jerry need to take the Matt Dodge express to permanent unemployment. JD Walton has reached Ian Allen heights as one of the worst OL to ever wear a Giants uniform. Combining lazy and stupid with a complete lack of ability is a rare feat.

- The ENTIRE LB corps and safety positions need to be overhauled. I wouldn't bring any of these people back except Kennard and Rolle in the Deon Grant "third safety" role.

In a completely unrelated thought, I love seeing Jacobs on the sideline.
Wow sounds like he is excusing the defense

Someone is going to offer JPP

14+ million a year.

The Giants would be nuts if they matched that offer or anything close to it.

The defense sucks but then with the rules now, most defenses are gonna suck.

Bring in a new DC and figure something out because it ain't changing.

53 drop backs - zero sacks

Game summary - each team had 6 scores

Phi - 4 TD's 2 FG's (1 ST TD)

Giants - 2 TD's 4 FG's

Why does it take the 16th game to get JPP significant snaps on the opposite side. He played very well against Peters. They must re-sign him

If they could just run slightly better they would be a really good offense. They are at 3.5 ypc on the year - middle of pack in 4.2

I would like to see what they could do if they were relatively healthy

Agreed. And somebody has to go after another wretched season, in which we had a seven game losing streak. Also think Quinn is gone.

I don't think anyone is going to offer JPP $14M. Teams see the same limitations we do. But I do think someone is going to offer him more than the Giants are willing to pay. I'd really like to keep JPP, but completely understand if he moves on for more cash.

My take is that he will say although we finished worse than last year, he has a better feeling about this team than he did about last year's team. This year, he will feel that our team is better than what our record shows and that we are not THAT far away. Some minor tweaking vs major overhaul.
TE is low priority as usual
mrvax : 12/28/2014 4:42 pm : link
I know, I know, everyone wants a great 2 way TE. It ain't gunna happen. Donnell will work hard on his blocking during the off season as will Fells. We have a LOT more priorities than TE. Our are OK right now and likely will improve. Robinson is a goner as he should have never made it to the roster out of camp.

John Conner should have had that last slot that was pissed away on AR.

I still like Robinson as the blocking TE. Donnell for me really regress during the season. Robinson isn't athletic as I thought. But I really thought his blocking really picked up and I notice that he is in there on 3rd and short and goal line packages. Donnell's is abysmal but that seems to be a league problem with these young TEs. I want the kid from Oregon but I think he is even a worse blocker than Donnell.

couple of points here, may not help to draft a top oline in round 1 given the poor results recently. Only do it if you can O'Flaherty, else load up on wide receivers (Cooper) and outscore your opponents

That is because TC wanted to slow the game down (keep it close) so the Eagles offense cannot get on the field as he knows we can't stop them or Kelly scheme.

Pugh to LG then you can get a starting RT in 2nd or 3rd round-- Sambrailo or D. Williams. Fix the defense with better athletes like Shaq Thompson.the good thing is that 3-4 defense teams will be looking at Ray & Beasley, who should be there at #9.
Agree that OL sucks and is definitely more than one player away
Red Dog : 12/28/2014 5:15 pm : link
They have two relatively promising young OLs in Pugh at RT and Richburg at C, plus possibly one veteran journeyman worth keeping in Schwartz at G, but all the rest need to be replaced.

For those keeping score at home, that's a minimum of TWO more starters including a "blue goose" OLT and another Guard, plus some decent depth including a veteran swing tackle and at least one guy who is a worthwhile back up at center.

The attitude of management towards the offensive line over the last three or four years has been simply indefensible, as Reese conceded after last season.

But Reese still really hasn't done much about fixing it. Just one first or second day draft choice last spring and signing a bunch of broken down rejects from other teams. This is really no different than what he and his draft team have been doing for the last several years. And as we saw again pretty much all season long, climaxing with the display of ineptitude against the Iggles, his fix still is not working.

Interesting. Maybe the injuries on the defensive will help Perry a lot.

The injuries only aggravate the most ridiculous defensive play calling. Remember Fewell's explanation for keeping his best two pass rushers off the field when Dallas drove down for the winning score? He didn't have one.
JPP Must be Franchised!!!!!

I would do that ASAP...like tomorrow...work on a 6-7deal..:.if the Giants can't then trade him to an AFC team...as someone pointed out someone (I believe multiple teams) will offer $14-15 million per year(hopefully the Giants)...someone will offer multiple picks for a 25 year old stud DE...that is just scratching the surface on his ability...the Giants would be nuts...and Reece should be fired if they let a kid with type of ability get away for nothing.

Giants need to establish the run in the second half, I knew the game was lost.

Started the second half run, run for 0 yards, short incomplete, blocked punt and the TD which was the difference in the game.

That is because TC wanted to slow the game down (keep it close) so the Eagles offense cannot get on the field as he knows we can't stop them or Kelly scheme.

With Fewell calling defensive plays, it didn't matter. I think the Giants coaching staff would prefer the perfectly "balanced" game to a W.
The problem is that TC has picked as bunch of awful Coordinators

Name another defense that blows coverage the way these guys do. Guys open by 25 or 30 yards. Inexcusable. Fewell must go.

Fassel must have been a genius- he picked great coordinators. And with his ability to pick coordinators, he still goes unemployed.

Only on BBI are coaches evaluated based on coordinators.

"The defense is broken".
Whether he points to the DC or FO is yet to be seen.
Here's hoping JR gets some D players in FA and draft(OL as well), and TC gets a new DC, as in last year.
Defense
stretch234 : 12/28/2014 6:30 pm : link
This defense started out this year with:

Prince, DRC, Rolle - 1st rd picks

Beason - 1st Rd pick

JPP, Patterson, Kiwi, Ayers - 1st rd picks

Hankins, Moore - 2nd & 3rd

Sorry, but this team has defensive talent, it has a DC who struggles to get the maximum out of these players

That is regardless of the QB.
From Aaron Rogers to Zack Mettenberger.
Jolly Perry and his Tampa 2 has to go.

I'm with you. Flowers looked great against SC. His man didn't get close to the QB. He's strong, athletic, and mean. We need guys like him. Take him and play at guard or tackle. Then draft another o-lineman in Rd 3. Use Rd. 2 for defense (Nate Orchard?).
I WONDER

how many draft positions Philly lost by winning their Anti Odell SuperBowl?
Though 12 receptions is 'usually' not considered a D win, except in Philthy.

It list the game because it lead to the blocked punt because they were punting from inside the 20. The way to beat the Eagles is attack their secondary. The Eagles have won this year because if special teams and defensive scores. The "adjustments" to establish the run played right into the Eagles hands.

The same thinking lost the game vs. the Cowboys.

Should be enough to get the win!

Defense sucked when it mattered ...

10 penalties for over 100 yds ..,

Blocked punt for TD...,

Eli missed some big pass plays and the OL can't run block!

That pretty much sums it up and i'll add that there was a bunch of drops also.

The number one priority is to fix the fucking running game. Keep on settling for average and we won't go anywhere no matter who is at WR, QB or even on defense.

It's all about the running game. Williams is ok maybe he gets better. Jennings is ok maybe he stays healthy. The OL is ok at best.

You want to fix this defense? Keep it off the field.

missed a lot of throws out there. Threw behind crossing recievers, missed a few seam routes to the Tight Ends by throwing too long, and took too long to get the ball out on several deep throws to Beckham.

He could have easily been picked 3 or 4 times today...
If TC stays

Same results next year.
TC doesn't pick players and
won't change his approach on
play calling, ect.
He will push his run plays on
Macadoo. When Fewell gets fired
another noname will replace him
and he probably will have no
DC experience. Mara is a good guy
but not good owner.

Eli was clearly not sharp today. We couldn't run the ball and my gut tells me he just never got into rhythym. The pass to TE Robinson was "off" and well Robinson didn't time it too well either but if he hits Robinson or Donnell in stride we likely win or at least keep it away from the Eagles!
