I wish we had a better QB.. one we could win a super bowl with.
Eli
dep026 : 12/28/2014 4:15 pm : link
OBJ
Randle
Hankins
Richburg
Pugh

Build for next year.
The Giants finished with the exact record
hudson : 12/28/2014 4:16 pm : link
they deserved. In this case, their record is 100% what they really were.
This is a game we could have won..
EricJ (formerly Tyleraimee) : 12/28/2014 4:17 pm : link
but the reality is that we are not as good as the Eagles right now. We end up losing again to a team with a winning record.
We have things to build on with

How did Pugh fare against Barwin?
armsteadeatslittlekids : 12/28/2014 4:17 pm : link
Didn't watch the whole game.
Eagles have won 11 of last 14
Steve in South Jersey : 12/28/2014 4:17 pm : link
vs the Giants according to Papa.
The party
natefit : 12/28/2014 4:17 pm : link
is just getting started for the good teams. Unfortunately once again, we arent one of them
tough loss since it was "meaningful"
micky : 12/28/2014 4:18 pm : link
Get players now. The main problem
I believe the Giants will draft 8th if ATL wins and 9th if they lose
dpinzow : 12/28/2014 4:18 pm : link
TEN, TB, JAX, OAK, NYJ, WSH and CHI have worse records

STL drafts ahead of us because they will end with a stronger SOS

It would have been nice to win
mofti : 12/28/2014 4:18 pm : link
but in reality, it won't matter from a year from now. We can only hope the giants take advantage of the draft with this lost.

One Defense
One Running Game

Apply tomorrow.

Sorry, we draft ahead of STL because the Rams
dpinzow : 12/28/2014 4:19 pm : link
have a stronger SOS even if they lose to Seattle today. So we should be Falcons fans in order to move up one more spot
....
SamTheTram : 12/28/2014 4:19 pm : link
Bring in a nasty RT, reshuffle the O-line, and add a blocking TE and I think this offense is above average.

The defense. Bring in everybody. :(

Fairly solid.

Beatty was not so good.
Not bad overall.
bceagle05 : 12/28/2014 4:19 pm : link
This probably seals Fewell's fate, and gets us a top 10 pick. I was rooting for a win, but big picture this was a no-lose situation.
No major injuries to Eli, OBJ or Wiliams
Rjanyg : 12/28/2014 4:19 pm : link
JPP played well enough to prove he needs to get paid. Fewell should sill be fired as should Quinn. Tom and McAdoo should stay. Sign Iupati, extend Eli, sign JPP.
6-10

Better a pick at midfield
CT Charlie : 12/28/2014 4:20 pm : link
than scoring a TD and failing on the conversion.

Wouldn't that mean they draft below us? I always thought higher SOS has you later.

Better than he did last game :P
The Offense will be OK with a OL or two
SwirlingEddie : 12/28/2014 4:22 pm : link
The Defense needs lots of players. Special Teams? Let's just say the next Gunner they block will be their first. Kudos though to Josh Brown who had a good season.
15 - 25 in the last 40 regular season games
Buck Dharma : 12/28/2014 4:22 pm : link
They haven't beat a playoff caliber team who wasn't starting a backup QB since November 2012.
Typical Eagles/Giants game under Coughlin.
St. Jimmy : 12/28/2014 4:22 pm : link
Offense goes cold with 3 and outs early. Try to establish the run leads to 3rd and long. Game changing plays in favor of the Eagles. Fall behind by 14+ early fourth quarter. Pull within 8. Two drives to tie it with plays being run with under three seconds on the playclock. Bad turnover by Eli. Every fourth quarter where the Giants lose to these pieces of shit follows thd same script.
Couldn't
AcidTest : 12/28/2014 4:23 pm : link
beat anybody good all year. No run game. Bad OL play overall. No coverage LBs (again). Many miscommunications in the secondary. Got nothing from TEs all year except Donnell's game against the even more dreadful Redskins.

Team needs a mauling guard, LB, S, and DT. Have other holes, but they can't all be fixed in one year.

Interesting to see what happens with JPP and Rolle. Could see both being gone.

Hope Berhe is OK.

Eli panicked
SHO'NUFF : 12/28/2014 4:24 pm : link
we were too close to tying the game so he threw that INT to guarantee a top 10 pick to protect his assistant in 2015.
Need more then one OL
BigBlueCane : 12/28/2014 4:24 pm : link
as a starer, can't rely on Schwartz to stay healthy.

Philly's gonna be a problem until Coughlin adjusts to dealing with them.

SHO'NUFF : 12/28/2014 4:25 pm : link
ass.
Sorry, should clarify the draft order
dpinzow : 12/28/2014 4:25 pm : link
Assuming OAK loses to DEN

1. TB (2-14, .490 SOS)
2. TEN (2-14, .506 SOS)
3. JAX (3-13, .514 SOS)
4. OAK (3-13, but a very high SOS around .570)
5. WSH (4-12, .479 SOS)
6. NYJ (4-12, .542 SOS)
7. CHI (5-11)
8. NYG or ATL (6-10). If ATL loses they pick 8th because we have the stronger SOS; if ATL wins we pick 8th

STL can't pick ahead of us even if they lose today and finish 6-10 because they will end with a stronger SOS.

New Orleans won so they finished 7-9. The worst Carolina can do is 6-9-1 so we also pick ahead of them regardless...that's why we want a Falcons win
We need to get a good Defensive player
JoeyBigBlue : 12/28/2014 4:26 pm : link
In the first round. I don't see us retaining JPP or Rolle, so we need a playmaker on that side of the ball. That and a guard in the 2nd round would be nice.
how many times has Eli ended a season with
SHO'NUFF : 12/28/2014 4:26 pm : link
an INT as his last pass attempt?
Adding a stud to the OL
Steve in South Jersey : 12/28/2014 4:26 pm : link
would raise the level of the whole line. A 2-way TE is needed too. The defense needs just about everything including a new DC.

Last year for one.
We'd have beaten them if Foles hadn't gotten injured.
CT Charlie : 12/28/2014 4:28 pm : link
Eagles would have already clinched.
terrible play by Eli at the end of the game

meh..
newmike2 : 12/28/2014 4:30 pm : link
none of the big names got career ending injuries, we get a better pick and we have a glimpse of the near future of this team. They have the foundation of a playoff caliber team, they just need the leadership.
Hopefully they part ways with Fewtile and find a vet or two that can help with the on-field leadership this team lacks.

Spring training is about two months away.

plus your looking at depth..though not good as a starter but more serviceable
Giants are nuts if JPP is not retained
Mason : 12/28/2014 4:30 pm : link
They are nuts to let whoever keeping Patterson, Herz and Paysinger stay on this roster. I mean Herz was actually re-signed, smh. Patterson should have retired last year.
Way too many injuries for this team once again. LOL @ Coughlin saying that they had a good defensive plan against Eagles. Hahahahaha.
Does Mara have the balls to do what needs to be done?
oipolloi : 12/28/2014 4:31 pm : link
I doubt it

more likely, we have to one more crap year before anything changes
The lone positives are ODB putting up a monster game
Shockeyisthebest80 : 12/28/2014 4:31 pm : link
despite a pretty good job by the Eagles' secondary and Rueben Randle. I'm still EXTREMELY skeptical about this 2 game run, but he looked excellent.

Negative:

- Perry Fewell must be fired. How many times are guys wide open as if no one knew they were eligible receivers? E-fucking-nough already.

- JD Walton & John Jerry need to take the Matt Dodge express to permanent unemployment. JD Walton has reached Ian Allen heights as one of the worst OL to ever wear a Giants uniform. Combining lazy and stupid with a complete lack of ability is a rare feat.

- The ENTIRE LB corps and safety positions need to be overhauled. I wouldn't bring any of these people back except Kennard and Rolle in the Deon Grant "third safety" role.

In a completely unrelated thought, I love seeing Jacobs on the sideline.
Wow sounds like he is excusing the defense
Mason : 12/28/2014 4:32 pm : link
and putting it on the ST play, running game and interception. okay.

TC making case for Fewell?
Someone is going to offer JPP
BigBlueCane : 12/28/2014 4:32 pm : link
14+ million a year.

The Giants would be nuts if they matched that offer or anything close to it.

The defense sucks but then with the rules now, most defenses are gonna suck.

Bring in a new DC and figure something out because it ain't changing.

You listening to the post game too. This is incredible.
I think TC is going to battle for Perry
Mason : 12/28/2014 4:35 pm : link
Interesting. Maybe the injuries on the defensive will help Perry a lot.
Game
stretch234 : 12/28/2014 4:36 pm : link
53 drop backs - zero sacks

Game summary - each team had 6 scores

Phi - 4 TD's 2 FG's (1 ST TD)

Giants - 2 TD's 4 FG's

Why does it take the 16th game to get JPP significant snaps on the opposite side. He played very well against Peters. They must re-sign him

If they could just run slightly better they would be a really good offense. They are at 3.5 ypc on the year - middle of pack in 4.2

I would like to see what they could do if they were relatively healthy
at a certain point
Peter from CT : 12/28/2014 4:37 pm : link
it doesn't matter what the DC's plans are, if the team doesn't execute, then you need to get a new guy - no matter what.
