I have a couple concerns going in to tonight's game:
1. Trap game for us.
2. We're playing the team with the dirtiest captain in the Metro division. This spearing sleazebag is probably going to hunt after the superior team.
Eat shit, arc. 7:00 start.

When people talk about the little brother complex thing, Fekker is literally THE guy they're talking about.
Textbook.
I think if I'm the little brother, then a more complete analogy would be the little brother who'd love to look up to big brother, but there's just nothing to admire.
So now little brother is taking over.
Taking over what?
Here is a quote from your Jets former coach:
"We came to New York City to be the best team in the NFL, not just the best team in New York City. And I have news for you: We are the better team. We're the big brother....It seems clear that right now we are the better team and we are going to remain the better team for the next 10 years. Whether you like it or not, those are the facts and that's what is going to happen."
Sounds very similar.
Could not have said it better myself. We played like shit in the 3rd period. It was a nice win, but we need to put together a strong effort on both sides of the ice for all three periods.

A blink? The pro sports record for consecutive playoff series wins is some blink.
But you know, I'd prefer not to talk about those. I was born in 1985 so, unlike Rangers fans, I don't cling to some relic of a distant past. We are the best team now, and that's all I need.
So, by definition, the odds are that most teams will fall short.
Better to fall short in the playoffs than to fall short of the playoffs.
But, hey, the Isles might get in the tournament this year. There's hope.
Th Rangers have 1 championship in 75 years.
Sooo... this implication that the Rangers are somehow the Giants in your Islanders=Jets scenario is... funny I guess?
Nope, by any measure you are incorrect.
One measure would be that the reigning champs are the best until they've been unseated -- that would be the Kings
The other measure would be the team with the most points -- That would be the Preadators and Ducks. Of course, the edge there goes to Nashville because of games in hand.
Better record than the Rangers (even though there is an imbalance of games) =/= best team. It's barely an argument for better team than the Rangers currently.
You are the guys who say in 2014 - well last year we took the Penguins in 6 and you guys lost (even thought the Rangers would win that series).
How about this gem - in 2005, the Devils smoked the Rangers in a sweep - Islander fans "AT least we won a game in the playoffs" - however the Islanders didnt make tjhe playoffs that year, they were referring to the Tampa Bay series pre-lockout.
But the Ranger fans are dillusional. I don't remember being in the Finals last year saying - well we at least made it further than the Islanders.

Have I said the Rangers and the Giants are equals?
Again, I guess because you typed it - it is true. I'll scroll up and check but I don't remember saying this. So is it funny? It's false - maybe funny?

Drew, my comments are obviously not intended for all Rangers fans.
Drewcon, I actually feel a little bad because you're trying to be reasonable with me right now.... but I'm just enjoying the banter. You're a good fan and I've just messing around. This is fun.
IMO the Rangers are one of those teams who don't really turn in on until this time of year. They are really rolling right now.

The problem is Isles fans treating a pre-ASG matchup as their super bowl. Rangers fans know it's just a game, and a fairly unimportant one at that since the Rangers would need to totally collapse to miss the playoffs.
Literally all year long you guys keep singing the same song.
It's only 1 month!
it's only a 1/4 season!
It's only 3 months!
It's not even the All Star break!
And all the while you continue to trail us. Meanwhile, your pre-All Star break run of 13 out of 14... well that obviously means a lot. You're clearly a Cup Contender because of a holiday season run! Your early success is valid. Ours is a mirage. It's so clear now.
Rangers fans truly are the worst of the big NY team fan bases. The Yankees have every right to be proud. They're the most successful American sports team ever. The Giants have 2 Super Bowls since 2007. The Knicks suck ass, but Knicks fans don't pretend that they're good. But Rangers fans? Well every year, a team that's won one championship in 75 years is somehow the saving grace for you entitled batch of losers. The lack of perspective this fan base has is astonishing.
You summed them up perfectly, they are the Notre Dame football version for hockey. Everyone wants them to do well because they are from NY and good for ratings. When they start doing well you hear this is great this is going to be the year and everyone starts declaring this is the year they win the Cup. Then they get to the finals and get swept!
Look our 1st place team will just show up tonight. I hope they just let the Isles on the ice with a superior franchise. I am not sure that any thing we have accomplished so far this season means anything if can not just compete with the 2014 Stanley Cup Final runner-ups. I mean if we get it to a skills competiton it would mean that we were lucky just to keep it tied to the end. I am sure already the refs will screw the Rangers with numerous horrible calls that any normal fan will know was a penalty or not a penalty. I am sure the King will show up with his Olypmic Gold Medal and show it to his teammates to help inspire them of what to aspire to. We will show up with our bottom of the barrel coach, our above avg. record on the road and see what happens. I just hope when tonight is over WE KICK THE SHIT OUT OF THE RAGS!!!!
Islanders: 22 ROW in 42 games
Lets all just agree Islanders >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Rangers, and then enjoy tonight's game.

We were actually lucky enough to win one game in the finals.

Am I forgetting the time when the Rangers got to the finals and got swept?
Is this the chief of the Hekawis?
If we lose: "Islanders suck" "they will never sustain the success through out the season" yada yada.
Whatever happens, us Islander fans can always hang one thing over you fuckers:
Hudson is a Rangers fan.... Let that sink in for a while.
Well, he's half a Rangers fan - you guys have 12th Man.
Islanders: 22 ROW in 42 games
Greg, should we start copying and pasting all the analytics that the Islanders are in the top of the league in most advanced stats? If you believe in those the Isles are not going away this season. The key is to get into the playoffs. Being ahead of the Rags is irrelevant.

I know they did not get swept it just felt that way.
I like Sam. Micheletti sucks, though.

Brett I never take any guy seriously who has a woman's name as his 1st name.
Oh! You DID watch the series. Thanks for acknowledging some of the bad luck. To be honest, I am still in shock that my lowly Rangers made it that far with who you call a "queen". We made it despite Lundqvist being our overrated goalie.
Series M W L GF GA
New York Islanders 4 0 22 8
New York Rangers 0 4 8 22
Apr 28 New York Rangers 2 5 at New York Islanders
Apr 30 New York Rangers 3 7 at New York Islanders
May 2 New York Islanders 5 1 at New York Rangers
May 5 New York Islanders 5 2 at New York Rangers
New York Islanders win series 4 games to 0
Or this - ( New Window )
exactly. that 22-3 curbstomp was an absolutely beautiful way to start a cup run.
fuck the isles.
Here is what is etched in my brain. The Islanders have played the Rangers 8 times in the playoffs. The islanders have won 5 times and lost 3. Hopefully for the good of this board and to get us all through to baseball season and training camp they get a chance to make it 6 and 3.
Well it's not like there are a bunch of Stanley Cup winning years for it to get lost in...
12th Man - The Rangers suck though, they aren't making the playoffs.
Well it's not like there are a bunch of Stanley Cup winning years for it to get lost in...
Yeahhhh!!! Mike from Ohio - Tell 'em. The "Rags" think they are the Bruins, Hawks, Kings, Canadiens or Islanders.

Ummmmm...not my words, but please, feel free to criticize me with something someone else said.
That year bothered me in many ways.A) Our playoff hero Glenn Healey leaves to become the Rags backup.B) We replace him with Ron Hextall C) that series.
Hextall was terrible

Well at least we have the Giants and this in common.

I'm pretty sure this is the first time I have responded to you on this thread Drew.
But we still do have the Giants in common.
And yes, only loss to Rangers!
Brett's trap game comment was funny. Overall, though this is a potentially 4 pt game all that is important is getting into the playoffs. The Islanders are a solid team now and some back and forth is good and makes the games more fun. That being said the Islanders need to keep doing what they are doing and they will be in the playoffs.
As for tonight going to be fun watching a game that is not only for bragging rights on the board but 2 quality teams that both have NY in their names playing hockey again. It is about time. GO ISLES!!!!
And yes, only loss to Rangers!
And the Rangers partially won that game because of a bad call against Ovechkin in the second that led to a PP goal.
as far as my confidence in my team (all of my teams). I always expect the worst and criticize the Rangers (and Giants)
It should be fun tonight - and I look at the Islanders (always) as a tough game.
