Went with Big Blue Travel... me and 299 other Giants fans survived the 3rd coldest game in NFL history, that then went into overtime!
I remember after Tynes missed at regulation me and the other fans in our row were shaking our heads thinking Packers were going to win the toss (they did) and then Favre will add to his legend.
However, Webster changed the story. Tynes made the kick which was in our end zone, and we all started jumping and cheering saying "We're going to the Super Bowl! We're going to Arizona!"
ie AP taking on 2 defenders to make what would've been likely a TD and/or first down. Like said, recovery by Johnson on Nixon fumble on on punt return. I believe Boss's alert recovery of fumble by Bradshaw on offense near goal line going in.
Team effort, and huge game by eli and plax as well.
How Eli seemed unfazed by the cold. Especially when they talked about how long they were able or unable to stay out on the field during warm ups because of how cold it was.
Green Bay had two pro bowl corners - Charles Woodson and Al Harris
Their strategy was to use their corners to single cover the Giants receivers and keep the safeties up to stop the Giants power running game. In a way it made sense since the weather was so awful with a wind chill of -23, but Plaxico Burress abused Harris again and again. Burress had 11 receptions for 151 yards which was a Giants post-season record.
Wasn't Michael Johnson the player that recovered the fumble after a punt? I think Hixon fumbled the ball and Johnson recovered it.
Am I wrong?
i believe Hixon recovered it.
Nixon did recover it at the end of regulation towards midfield and it was a punt return fumble by McQuarters. And Jacobs fumbled the other down at the 1 which lead to the touchdown that gave the Giants 13 points
defense had just made a huge stop and we'd be set up at midfield in a 20-20 game with 2+ min to go.
as soon as RW fumbled, i think my heart stopped. ironically, the next play was the Bradshaw TD called back on one of the more horseshit phantom holds i've ever seen.
those fucking referees had be ready to shotgun my TV
All he wanted for his birthday was 'to beat Dallas' - when I told him we beat them already, he said he wanted to beat them again, it was a lot of fun. Kid was smart from a young age.
Should do some drunken tweeting in Tynes' direction later as a thank you.
for a ski trip with multiple families planned for months. Watched game with a non-sports fan and a Jets fan on about a 13 inch TV while the Moms and kids were in a separate room watching and also hanging with kids by the indoor pool. After the winning Tynes kick, I opened the door to my room, shouted 'we're going to the Super Bowl' and watched my then 5 year old son leap into my arms to celebrate.
our young boys watching the Giants play for a championship for the first time. Passing it down to the next generation was nice with my Dad was nice. What a great game, great night.
my father called me and said "Let's go to Lambeau, its a once in a lifetime opportunity.
We got tix on stubhub, flew into chicago, drove to Milwaukee to spend the night then woke up and spent the day in Lambeau. Trip of a lifetime. Couldn't believe how welcoming and polite the Packers fans were.
my son was born the day of the week 17 Pats game. My daughter was 3 so she was with me more and into it during the 2011 run. I remember quite by chance my son was in my arms for the last play of the Dallas game. I didn't want to scare the crap out of him but I did let out a scream and he looked up at me with that 1 month old look of "what are you a lunatic?" So of course after Tynes misses the 2 kicks that little good luck charm had to get back in my arms for the OT kick. I remember it distinctly mid kick when that ball started to curve towards the middle I didn't yell or anything, I simply said we're going to the Bowl!
He tried to jam Driver (I believe it was) and got ragdolled
Yeah I remember that. I'm still unclear as to whether a receiver is able to do that without there being a penalty. I remember being up in arms at the time because Driver essentially grabbed Webster with two hands and tossed him to the ground.
with a fellow diehard Giants fan and some melancholy dweeb, who chose to root for the Packers just to be a buzz kill. We were on pins and needles the whole game, and wishing the dweeb would shut up, which eventually he did.
Another friend showed up, who was rooting for the G-Men because his Aunt was totally crazy for the Giants. When Tynes hit that game winner, we cheered and the guys aunt called to make sure he saw the game. It was unbelievable.
I wanted to ring his neck after that ridiculous PF he picked up prolonged the drive and gave GB a TD. As previously stated with a 1 month old and a 3 year old in the house I needed to go take the garbage out in the commercial break to cool off and keep from blowing my top in the house lol.
RE: As great as Sam Madison was during that run coaching up the young DB's

but that was more of weird play where he just got stripped almost before he even had a chance to put it away. The Madison thing was like 10 seconds after the whistle and just sheer stupidity helping out a team that couldn't score at that point.
as part of the 22d MEU(SOC). Watched the game late at night in the wardroom with the other officers (two of them Packers fans from Wisconsin). Found out a few days later that I had two tickets to the big game waiting for me courtesy of a very generous friend. Made it back four days before the Super Bowl.
McQuarters did have another fumble in the early fourth quarter when he had an interception and it fell right into a lineman's hands. I think Ryan Grant forced it and it was the drive that kept the Packers on the field to score the game tying Field Goal.
One thing Giant haters like to forget when referencing the Favre INT to Webster and the Williams fumble, they forget the Giants were WINNING. I love when people speak out of context because any argument against 42 and 46, I just thrash.
This was the only game during the run I was concerned about
Tampa didn't have a chance and there was no way we were losing to Dallas three times. We were peaking and the Pats were leveling off. This game however scared me. Favre's final season......Lambeau...the cold. It had Packers all over it. That first run/hit by Jacobs convinced me otherwise.

Good memories.
We should have won that game by 13+ at least. Green Bay did nothing except that one big pass when Webster slipped.

crime if we lost that game. We were so much better than the Packers that day but kept shooting ourselves in the foot. Thank God we won in the end

Agreed with both you fucks. Would have been a crime not to win that game.
Should do some drunken tweeting in Tynes' direction later as a thank you.

Yep. Felt that way too.

I can't believe this was 7 years ago. I was only 23. Feels like freaking yesterday.
Everyone remembers the Webster pick, but the McQuarters pick was one of the stupidest throws imaginable. The fumble bailed Favre out.
But come overtime he was still Favre, and he did what Favre did.
