But isn't the Pro Bowl still AFC v. NFC? Why do I keep seeing all these replacements of an AFC player for an NFC player, and vice versa? That's like the Giants putting a guy on IR and then the Patriots adding a guy to their roster to take his place. I don't get it.

It's not AFC vs NFC anymore, they did away with that format last year.
but does this piss anyone off like it has with me? Andy Dalton is a garbage bin of a qb. fan based polls? i know people from the cincy area who love their bengals and they all despise him. I dont get it..
It is JUST a stupid all star game, but its respect..
Following deserve it:
Eli
flacco
alex smith
bridgewater
All had better years, hope fat mike or someone goes on a rant, although it might be too meaningless.
Don't know if the other alternates were able to pass on going or not.
It doesn't piss me off, though it's mildly annoying when people use pro bowl appearances as an argument for or against one player being better than another - Pro Bowl appearances are pretty much meaningless at this point.
But I must say he is considerably better than Dalton, who is a train wreck for Cincinnati. There is some terrific talent on that team, specifically on the offensive side, being neutralized by the play of Dalton. It is astonishing to me he got asked to play...I predict he gets drafted last...

Not trying to spark a debate...but, I have no idea how anyone walks around saying "I'm not an Eli guy."
I don't get it, and probably never will.
The game is a joke anyway and I'd rather have my QB Â

there are two Eli's. One is the clutch performer who can thread the needle, and moves the offense when it really counts. The other Eli throws mind-numbing interceptions, misses open receivers and has no pocket awareness when it really counts.
The problem for Giants fans is that you never know which Eli shows up on Sunday...
Of the original six to be picked, only Andrew Luck and Tony Romo remain. Tom Brady’s busy this week and Peyton Manning, Ben Rosethlisberger and Aaron Rodgers took injury excuses.
First alternate Drew Brees will be in Arizona, but second Philip Rivers (injury) and third Russell Wilson (busy) took a pass. That allowed fourth and fifth alternates Matthew Stafford and Matt Ryan to get in, before Flacco chose paternity leave to make way for Dalton.
that Eli constantly gets overlooked year after year. Whats sad is thatthey actually use pro bowls as a mean of putting someone in Canton.
This is just a joke. I had no problem with Eli not being in the top 6. But for him to get passed over for Flacco, Rivers, Stafford, and Dalton is a shame.
Manning is becoming one of the most disrespected athletes in the NFL.
His reputation in most circles is beyond shot thanks to how the last few seasons have played out. It's not fair (beyond not, really,), but he's back, in the now and in overall perception, to where he was pre-first SB title.

If his last name wasnt Manning, I truly believe he would be looked favorably upon. I mean he had 30 TDs, 14 INTs, and 4,400 yards this year. And fucking Andy Dalton was looked as having a better year.

Despite some flaws he may have (all QB's in this league has them, some more than others obviously), he is still far away better than somebody like Andy Dalton. Red Rifle had a better team, that's all.
I agree. It's amazing how polarizing Eli is among loyal Giants fans. There are kool-aid drinkers who are all-in and kool-aid drinkers who will never be "Eli guys." As you alluded to, the truth is somewhere in the middle.
Why do we even care if Eli's in the Pro Bowl, at this point? Â
Nothing good can come from his playing in that game. And really, when you only make it in because of a QB who drops out 5 days prior, where's the pride in saying he got to play?

Since you noted my comments, my issue with Eli started from the get-go when Condon, Archie, and Eli manipulated the draft, ala Elway, and refused to go to San Diego because of some stupid, made up discomfort with former GM A.J. Smith...It was the action of spoiled brat. It's a privilege to get drafted into the NFL. Play with that team, and move when your become a free agent.
After that, Eli has had this huge standard deviation with his play that is maddening. QB is a position in today's NFL that requires much more consistency from year to year if you proclaim yourself an "elite QB"...

Yes you do. Get him a functional OL and most of the time you will see a good to great Eli. Shit OL and you get a real mixed bag. Not exactly hard to figure except for maybe Jerry Reese and the BBI Contigent that think WRs solve all ills

I know
Rodgers - Injured
Brady - Super Bowl
Manning - Injured
Luck
Big Ben
Romo
That's 3 replacements needed
Matt Stafford replaces Peyton
Matt Ryan replaces Brady
Dalton replaces Rodgers
Stafford and Dalton both have inferior numbers to Eli
Brees and Ryan are debatable
Just ridiculous
Fan based polls suck......
I remember, in baseball, it used to be just coaches and players voting for all stars, and I believe you couldn't vote for members on your own team....

It's not a surprise that he's returned to the forum now that the team is struggling.

He flies under the radar but I wish he was able to make it to the pro bowl.

Give me a break.
A majority of NFL "fans" are dopes.
Hell, go read the comments on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram whenever NFL posts something, you'll see some stupid things being said.

All true, except your last sentence. That is purely coincidence... ; )

If they wanted to make the Pro Bowl even more banal...this would be the way to do it.
The Pro Bowl's a joke, the farther all of our guys stay away from there the better.
