NFT: Dinner Advice Needed - UES Sorta Bachelor Party Tomorrow

christian : 1/20/2015 5:54 pm
With very short notice I was put in charge of doing a dinner for a co-worker/friend who's getting married Friday. Court-house type wedding after years of dating just to basically make it official, so no real bachelor party.

Our office is borderline midtown/UES and 4/5 guys don't live in the city so keeping it close to work is best for commute on a school night.

Here's the rub - everyone is leaning steak which I agree with, but being a vegetarian kind of keeps me from making call. A few of his personal friends are coming along and I don't know their budget, so I'd like to keep it 50-75 a head range.

Much appreciated in advance all!

Plenty of beer and debauchery and White Castle afterwards
Smith and Wollensky is right in your target area

if you want a steakhouse...will be hard to keep the cost under $100-$150 a head depending on how much you booze at dinner, but they've treated me and my friends well when we've gone there for group dinners

Plenty of places to barhop near there after dinner too.

There's also Texas De Brazil on 60/Lex, haven't been there but I've heard good things from a couple friends, it's a Brazilian steak house where they bring the food by your table to choose from I think
I heard they serve

good steak at the local classy strip joint.
It'll be tough to do steak at that price point

Might be better off dragging them off to Churrascaria Plataforma, plenty of good food and that should keep you around $75 unless people do more than a couple of drinks each (which, btw, is going to make it hard to do any kind of decent place in Midtown if people are going to have more than 2-3 each).
I agree with jcn on that restaurant...

as a fun, cheaper, good quality alternative to a steak house.

West 49th, so not too out of the way.

Let everyone buy their own drinks at the bar, at their own price point. Buy wine for the table--probably Argentinian.

You can do fine as a vegetarian at their huge salad bar. (link)
