Bryan Beluga OT

twin towers : 1/21/2015 8:30 pm
I read on yahoo sports today the Giants are interested in Brian Beluga of the Packers. Did not know he was available.
I'd love to sign him. Big tough kid out of Iowa. Anyone hear anything about him? or is this just wish full thinking?
He's a whale of a player.

average T who is always injured. id take derek newton first, or see if orlando franklin can still play T
Not seeing the story anywhere

Is there a link?

I think Bulaga is over-rated. Weak in pass blocking and often injured. Also, RT might be the only position he can play.
I bet McAdoo wants to get a hold of Buluga again
Mason : 1/21/2015 8:45 pm : link
His return to the Packers lineup was the best thing to happen to the Packers this season. He is pretty much it as far as their OL goes. Too much of an injury risk though. I mean fans still going nuts on Schwartz's injury can't be up for taking on Buluga.

I'm sick of hiring FA OL's who are always hurt

If they're smart, they'll look for a healthy second contract guy, like Kareem was, when they got him. The last few guys have been nightmares.
WE just had shitty luck with FA's getting injured
David in LA : 1/22/2015 3:00 am : link
Baas, and Schwartz didn't have a laundry list of injuries prior to playing for us.
Schwartz
Phil in LA : 1/22/2015 3:19 am : link
had an earlier injury. And do you think playing for the Giants would cure Buluga?
Bulaga will likely be looking for LT
chris r : 1/22/2015 5:12 am : link
money and I don't want him as my LT.
He's
DG_89 : 1/22/2015 5:33 am : link
been injured too many times for my liking. If the plan is to move Pugh to LG and sign a vet RT, then we should sign Parnell from the 'Boys. He came in whenever Doug Free got hurt and it looked like their offense never missed a beat. Steal him like we stole Ron Stone 20 years ago

They said Beluga was a great pass blocker but doesn't get a lot of push in the run game. If I can find the article, I will post a link.
Here is the link to write-up on Beluga

Very good player when healthy,
Section331 : 1/22/2015 8:21 am : link
which isn't often enough. He gets nicked up a lot. And, no, Mason, Bulaga is not the entire GB OL, he's not even its best player. That would be Josh Sitton. The GB OL is damn good. Bakhtiari is nasty, and the rookie C Linsley looks like a player.
There are other options.

The Cowboys have two free agent right tackles and won't be able to pay to keep both - Doug Free and Jermy Parnell.

Must be nice to have backups who can actually play.

Check the record. We get screwed by these free agent hires looking for big guaranteed $$$ in their second contracts. Then they are suddenly always injured. Think FA hires have to be second guessed from now on. Many of these guys with their agents are gaming the system.
Giants have been burned way too much in recent years with injuries
Coach Mason : 1/22/2015 11:41 am : link
If they take a mid or high tier FA, they need to go for a guy with a cleaner injury history.

What was Baas and Schwartz pre-Giant injury? Before coming to NY Baas only missed one game in five years.
