This past week, Cruz gave an update on his knee and the progress he's been making since the end of October after he got the surgery and gave great news to the fans who are hoping for that Beckham-Cruz duo in 2015. "I'm feeling good. I have full range of motion in my knee and in about two weeks time, I'll begin running again," Cruz said. |
I will wait for Slefrak's view on that.
we don't need another Steve Smith on our hands. does anybody know the difference between an ACL Tear recovery and a Patella Tear recovery? is there permanent damage with the patella?
But this is GREAT NEWS!!
Recovering from a torn patellar tendon is difficult and takes time. One of the most important prognostic factors for recovery is the time to surgery, and surgery delayed beyond a few weeks can limit recovery ability. It is known that early mobility after surgery, protected strengthening, and preventing excessive stress on the repair will speed overall recovery. Even with these steps, there is a minimum of 3 months until return of normal daily activities, and 4-6 months until sports should be resumed.
While most people heal completely from a patellar tendon surgery, there can be long-term weakness even with a successful repair.

I dont know the specifics about the differences, but from what everyone has said, a Patella injury is much more significant. There is a lesser chance of being fully recovered from a Patella tear than an ACL tear.
Thanks YAJ. I am humbled. :-)

Be careful what you wish for
I hope so. The Giants have had some horrendous luck with major players and career ending injuries over recent years.
Reese's post season address of Cruz sounded eerily similar to what he said about David Wilson making a full recovery. Obviously different injuries, but Reese likely knows more detail about the injury than we do.
I see Cruz as our third wideout and slot guy this year behind OBJ and Randle.
Assuming we stay healthy in camp, we should be solid at the skill position(s) with TE Donnell and RB Williams rounding out the starters.
The OL needs that top UFA offensive guard to really beef up the middle where we struggled last year.
With his spirit for hard work now, I don't doubt it one iota
I don't see how that's possible. Even if the surgery was perfect, I doubt he'd be at 100% by then. It's a roll of the dice on Cruz's health this draft.
A "full recovery" from the injury may not bring back 2011/2012 Cruz, even opposite Beckham. It very well may bring back an average to possibly even below average WR -- and that's partly why the team shouldn't be banking on him as anything more than cap space right now, when they're making moves this offseason.
Best of Luck Victor I can't wait to see the salsa.
Very interested to know just how much they like their WR's not just for next year, but 2 years from now. Meaning, if they don't invest a pick in the top 4 rds I think they like some of the young talent they already have.

Jerry Reese seemed concerned.

I'd like to give pretty much everyone on the offense a mulligan for 2013 and the first few games of 2014. Even Eli looked like crap.
