NFT: Who are the football and NFT experts on BBI?

RC02XX : 1/23/2015 8:53 am
On any given day, there are potentially hundreds of people posting and lurking on BBI. But not all posters are created equal when it comes to knowledge and expertise in various categories regarding football and non-football related topics.

With this in mind, who are some of the posters that BBI sees as having more knowledgeable (maybe even at an expert level) than others in various categories? Who are the posters with track record of great contributions in discussions? And why do you think that?

We can always start "Who is the best Mike on BBI" list for you.

There are several "Mike in" or "Mike from" posters here that we can actually get a list going.

Some friendly advice, just stay away from religion here. People will find it a turnoff, be angered by it, use it against you, etc. It's not worth it.

I'm sure you are right JonC, but I never bring it up but rather only respond. A question was asked of me from a man who may be seeking to find answers. I would feel remiss if I didn't try to answer it, especially if I thought he was sincere. Besides, I don't care too much what people think of me here. I care about what God thinks of me, and he has told me to go out into the world to share the good news. I expect a certain amount of contempt. After all, my Lord received the same treatment as well.

Actually, you came on this thread specifically to mention your religion and then to share your persecution complex without any prompting from anyone. So why don't you just take JonC's advice and save yourself from the "persecution?"

Why don't you mind your own business. I'm sorry your IQ is not high enough to analyze the flow of the discussion here. I don't have the patience today for such silliness. Let me know if you have a Bible question. That is not silliness.

You make a good point and if I were in a patient mood I probably would have done just that- turn the other cheek. However, today, I guess I didn't feel like being the perfect Christian, so I lashed back.

So many guys here do just that here- act like busybodies, adding nothing to the flow of the discussion but just want to belittle- and today I felt the need to call the dude out on this silly busy body behavior.

Well, just to sum matters up- I never said I walked on water and now you know why I put all my trust in Christ's atonement at Calvary- to pay for my sins! Did I sin here by lashing out? I would say so. Oh well, it happens. To God (not me) be the glory!

I do not attend a formal Sunday church. For a number of years I attended a Messianic congregation at a synagogue where both Jews who have accepted Jesus as Messiah and Christian believers meet. Recently, a group of us left the congregation because we didn't like where the Rabbi was heading, so now we meet in local homes every Saturday.

Back to your question, women were very important to Jesus and held a place that was uncommon for women at that time.Yes, women speak, wear jewelry in our meetings, and we do not feel this is opposed to the will of God. Obviously, The times during the bible have changed. It may have been a cultural thing back then, as you know, women didn't even attend service with their men, and of course didn't go to any formal schools. Times have changed. I never believed first century culture is God manadated for every century. Plus, Pauls words of instruction should be filtered between moral and cultural.

I hope this helps. Not saying it is right....it is mine for now.

I'm not sure you even know what the definition of "flow" means if you think that there was any flow to this discussion that may have called for your persecution complex riddled post above.

While I barely have ever interacted with you prior to this thread, if you want to be the man of pious character on BBI, then act like one. All you have accomplished is to garner dislike for your character from many posters by your petulant and oft pushy attitude towards others who do not share your view of religion, particularly yours. Character is how you act, not how you talk.

Not to long ago I said words to this affect- I couldn't care less what you (the guys who belittle me) believe in, no sweat off my back. I even went so far as to say I'm kind of glad some of you (the ones who like to belittle) don't believe as I do. Does that sound like a guy who wants to FORCE his beliefs onto others? A guy "happy" that some people don't believe as I do! I don't think so.

So, please get over that mantra. I know guys like to use those buzz words to arouse passions, but it's a ruse here.

Now, I do care about the seeker and the one who is still trying to figure things out. That person may truly have questions about god and the bible and is looking for answers. I'm not saying I have all the answers, but I'm willing to share my perspective and knowledge.

For the record, I did not start a religious discussion here. I merely stated what I believe I'm somewhat an expert in- the Holy Bible. Didn't you ask this in your original post?

Your statement reeks of judgment and arrogance - a typical stance held by many who flout their religion as the end all, be all of human existence. The issue is that no one cares what YOU think or believe yet your religion somehow manages to seep into every thread you post in on this board. It's tired. We want to participate in a forum that covers sports, current events, hilarious events and general fun. We couldn't care less about who YOU think is enlightened or saved or "seeking" the truth. Either post something within the realm of the topics I mentioned or get lost.

First off, I personally don't care if you say that you're an expert on the Bible in response to this thread. Good for you. But enough with your persecution complex (which seems to be your MO here...playing the martyr).

Secondly, I don't think those who were asking you questions were really being serious as much as poking fun at your consistency as well as your very fundamental take on Christianity. I may be wrong, but knowing your interaction with those posters, I highly doubt that they really wanted your expertise on the Bible or Christianity.

And maybe you should go learn what "pot calling the kettle black" means since it's obvious that you've never heard that phrase before.

I think you will find this guy (linked below) fascinating. He is a religious scholar and a Karaite Jew who brings to light several Greek mistranslations of the Hebrew words of Matthew (among others). Spock said nothing wrong. Nothing offensive.

Some people just love to come out of the woodwork and try to get the old bully brigade together - any time some people express their faith.

They take it for granted that there will be others to jump on the bandwagon, and there usually are. What is new, this is as old as time.

Maybe there are people who want to talk about religion with him in a Q&A format, but I didn't really see that on this thread. Instead of keeping it light hearted as the thread has been, Spock made this thread about himself an how BBI is suppressing his ability to share his religion. Give me a break...he has set himself up for the response he gets by his own pattern of predictable posts that obviously rub people the wrong way.

I'm not sure when I would be able to find the time to watch a two hour video but it looks interesting. I saw Gordon on Zola Levitt's show once so I am aware of him a little. I know he does not believe the Talmud has any authority which makes him controversial.

As for the video you cited, I did a little research and I found this below. This is much shorter to read than your video. If you are interested, maybe you could check it out.

If you have a specific question about the Bible I will be glad to try to answer it. Cheers.

I'm not religious, but if I was, I would be a Karaite Jew. That's what comes the closest to making sense to me, but it still falls well short of the mark. As for Jesus, my guess is that--if he existed at all--he was a Karaite Jew who's words and deeds were grossly distorted and greatly embellished.

If I may add this one thought I had while watching it: it really does grieve my soul when I see or hear a Jew question the existence of God. I especially find him interesting because he has studied the New Testament greatly as well. He would be another great guy to have over for dinner and wine. I've listened to about 15 minutes of his thoughts on Matthew chapter 23. Btw, Great speaker too.
