NFT: Who are the football and NFT experts on BBI?

RC02XX : 1/23/2015 8:53 am
On any given day, there are potentially hundreds of people posting and lurking on BBI. But not all posters are created equal when it comes to knowledge and expertise in various categories regarding football and non-football related topics.

With this in mind, who are some of the posters that BBI sees as having more knowledgeable (maybe even at an expert level) than others in various categories? Who are the posters with track record of great contributions in discussions? And why do you think that?
Bill2 obviously

Weatherman- his contributions on the weather threads are always appreciated

Red Dog seems to be the snowblower expert

I think the MVP on draft stuff is undoubtedly Sy'56. His contributions go a long way towards filling the void of boredom between now and draft day. He's got a pretty good track record as well, if you go back and look at some of his stuff from prior years, of spotting talent.

There are others who provide some insightful draft info as well, such as JonC (still the most interesting man in the world), Anak (he's come so far since his picture with Eli), and KWALL, Blogger, Phil in LA...I'm sure there are others.

it's amazing some of the off the wall or unexpected stuff I walk away from here with. I've found new TV shows to watch, books to read, foods to try, places to go - you name it.

But if I had to nail down a handful of guys, I'd want a roundtable with Phil, Bill2, mg, njm and kicker for economics (and I know these guys often disagree, which only makes it better IMO).

For football, over the years I don't think I've seen anyone more on point for scouting/player evaluations than KWALL. X's and O's, I don't think anyone's done better work here than Anish or dorgan, and despite his outlook on the Giants lately (and hell, who can blame him), I think Joey rounds out that list nicely.

This...Those yearning to move up the list need to keep in mind that was one members take on douchebaggery. To really obtain a true Douchebag Hall of Fame it would have to be voted on by the members. Keep in mind: "One member's douchebag is another member's Bro"

"Why Must I Always Explain?"

Have to toe the line, I've got to make the most
Spent all the years going, from pillar to post
Now I'm standing on the outside and I'm waitin' in the rain
Tell me why must I always explain

Bared my soul to the crowd eh but oh what the cost
Most of them laughed out loud like nothing's been lost
There were hypocrites and parasites and people that drain
Tell me why must I always explain

Why, why must I always explain
Over and over, over again
It's just a job you know and it's no sweet lorraine
Tell me why must I always explain (alright)

Well I get up in the morning and I get my brief
I go out and stare at the world in complete disbelief
It's not righteous indignation that makes me complain
It's the fact that I always have to explain

I can't be everywhere at once, there's always somebody to see
And I never turned out to be the person that you wanted me to be
And I tell you who I am, time and time and time again
Tell me why must I always explain

Well it's out on the highway and it's on with the show
Always telling people things they're too lazy to know

Play the "Van Morrison" Quiz

Did you see the lad, on the corner
He was standing drinking wine
Wears his overcoat in the summer
And short sleeves in the winter time

Takes his holidays, down at the bookies
Well he knows how to pick a horse
Village tramping round the countryside
He wears a smile, but he doesn't say much

Village idiot, he's complicated
Village idiot, simple mind
Village idiot, he does know something
But he's just not saying

Don't you know he's onto something
You can see it, you can see it in his eyes
Sometimes he looks so happy
As he goes strolling by

Oh village idiot, he's complicated
Village idiot, he's got a simple mind
Village idiot, must know something
But he's just not saying

Well you all know he's onto something
You can see it in his eyes
Sometimes he looks so happy
When he goes walking by
Sometimes he looks so happy
When he goes walking by
Sometimes he looks so happy

Another Answer to question
Spock : 1/24/2015 2:10 pm : link
Comes from 2 Peter 1:

19We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 20Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. 21For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

I'm sure you are right JonC, but I never bring it up but rather only respond. A question was asked of me from a man who may be seeking to find answers. I would feel remiss if I didn't try to answer it, especially if I thought he was sincere. Besides, I don't care too much what people think of me here. I care about what God thinks of me, and he has told me to go out into the world to share the good news. I expect a certain amount of contempt. After all, my Lord received the same treatment as well.

So many guys here do just that here- act like busybodies, adding nothing to the flow of the discussion but just want to belittle- and today I felt the need to call the dude out on this silly busy body behavior.

Well, just to sum matters up- I never said I walked on water and now you know why I put all my trust in Christ's atonement at Calvary- to pay for my sins! Did I sin here by lashing out? I would say so. Oh well, it happens. To God (not me) be the glory!

I do not attend a formal Sunday church. For a number of years I attended a Messianic congregation at a synagogue where both Jews who have accepted Jesus as Messiah and Christian believers meet. Recently, a group of us left the congregation because we didn't like where the Rabbi was heading, so now we meet in local homes every Saturday.

Back to your question, women were very important to Jesus and held a place that was uncommon for women at that time.Yes, women speak, wear jewelry in our meetings, and we do not feel this is opposed to the will of God. Obviously, The times during the bible have changed. It may have been a cultural thing back then, as you know, women didn't even attend service with their men, and of course didn't go to any formal schools. Times have changed. I never believed first century culture is God manadated for every century. Plus, Pauls words of instruction should be filtered between moral and cultural.

I hope this helps. Not saying it is right....it is mine for now.

I'm not sure you even know what the definition of "flow" means if you think that there was any flow to this discussion that may have called for your persecution complex riddled post above.

While I barely have ever interacted with you prior to this thread, if you want to be the man of pious character on BBI, then act like one. All you have accomplished is to garner dislike for your character from many posters by your petulant and oft pushy attitude towards others who do not share your view of religion, particularly yours. So, please get over that mantra. I know guys like to use those buzz words to arouse passions, but it's a ruse here.

Now, I do care about the seeker and the one who is still trying to figure things out. That person may truly have questions about god and the bible and is looking for answers. I'm not saying I have all the answers, but I'm willing to share my perspective and knowledge.

Your statement reeks of judgment and arrogance - a typical stance held by many who flout their religion as the end all, be all of human existence. The issue is that no one cares what YOU think or believe yet your religion somehow manages to seep into every thread you post in on this board. It's tired. We want to participate in a forum that covers sports, current events, hilarious events and general fun. We couldn't care less about who YOU think is enlightened or saved or "seeking" the truth. Either post something within the realm of the topics I mentioned or get lost.

First off, I personally don't care if you say that you're an expert on the Bible in response to this thread. Good for you. But enough with your persecution complex (which seems to be your MO here...playing the martyr).

Secondly, I don't think those who were asking you questions were really being serious as much as poking fun at your consistency as well as your very fundamental take on Christianity. I may be wrong, but knowing your interaction with those posters, I highly doubt that they really wanted your expertise on the Bible or Christianity.

And maybe you should go learn what "pot calling the kettle black" means since it's obvious that you've never heard that phrase before.

Some people just love to come out of the woodwork and try to get the old bully brigade together - any time some people express their faith.

Maybe there are people who want to talk about religion with him in a Q&A format, but I didn't really see that on this thread. Instead of keeping it light hearted as the thread has been, Spock made this thread about himself an how BBI is suppressing his ability to share his religion. Give me a break...he has set himself up for the response he gets by his own pattern of predictable posts that obviously rub people the wrong way.

I'm not sure when I would be able to find the time to watch a two hour video but it looks interesting. I saw Gordon on Zola Levitt's show once so I am aware of him a little. I know he does not believe the Talmud has any authority which makes him controversial.

As for the video you cited, I did a little research and I found this below. This is much shorter to read than your video. If you are interested, maybe you could check it out.

If you have a specific question about the Bible I will be glad to try to answer it. Cheers.

Spock said nothing wrong. Nothing offensive.

Some people just love to come out of the woodwork and try to get the old bully brigade together - any time some people express their faith.

They take it for granted that there will be others to jump on the bandwagon, and there usually are. What is new, this is as old as time.

Thanks savant for this analysis and your reasonable inference. I wish you a BLESSED day.

because there was this one chick who used to post here that had her Sunday gravy recipe nailed down. But she was more than that....

Just wondering if this was a bit to subtle for this crowd or just not worth a response..ummm for a friend. TIA!

No we got it...and it wasn't too subtle. We just didn't want to respond despite more than an effort by you.

Cheers. Link - ( New Window )
I took a look at it and you do yourself a disservice if you dismiss Gordon based on this guy's criticism. Given the opportunity to learn something new on a subject that is very dear to you, I'm surprised that you find two hours of your time too much of an investment.

Even though I have a million things on my plate today, I find myself going back to reading up on what Rabbi Gordon has to say. Pretty fascinating stuff whether you agree or not. I'm pretty sure Mr. Gordon is very controversial in the JEWISH only circles. Disregarding Talmud has to make quite a few Jews rather upset. I've never heard of that sect of Judaism he belongs to-Karaite. What do you think of him and his beliefs?
Oh, Milton

I haven't dismissed that two hour video completely- just for today. My day off from work is only Saturday. Sunday is usually a half day of work for me (plus some tennis) and then family comes over for dinner and fellowship. A guy can only do so much in so few hours. I hope to read or watch some more of Mr. Gordon down the road. In the meantime, If you feel so inclined, I would like to read your thoughts of the Rabbi on his position. Thanks.

I'm not religious, but if I was, I would be a Karaite Jew. That's what comes the closest to making sense to me, but it still falls well short of the mark. As for Jesus, my guess is that--if he existed at all--he was a Karaite Jew who's words and deeds were grossly distorted and greatly embellished.

Fyi, You are definitely one guy I would love to invite over my house, drink some wine (or beer if you prefer) and discuss our thoughts, questions, doubts, and beliefs. I can see by the video you just sent me and your last post that you are probably like him (RF). I really enjoyed watching that 4 MINUTE video. This guy represents much of mankind, I'm sure.

If I may add this one thought I had while watching it: it really does grieve my soul when I see or hear a Jew question the existence of God. To me, a Jew- God's Chosen People- more than anyone else, should KNOW WITHOUT A DOUBT, that the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob really does exist. Anyhow, just me sharing my thoughts......
Spock- thanks for the blessing

to pay attention to Eric/Chris in Philly/Dune(especially baseball)/weatherman...still figuring out who else to follow.

I tend to comment mostly on hockey as well general topics, including geography/demography/transportation but just about random topic. Less on football because it's covered very well by the above posters.

Well, I did manage to read a few articles about Mr. Gordon, and I have to say, I find him interesting and refreshing, even though we have some disagreements in our beliefs. What I really like about him is his ability to dialogue with people of other faiths in a civil and intelligent manner.

I especially find him interesting because he has studied the New Testament greatly as well. He would be another great guy to have over for dinner and wine. I've listened to about 15 minutes of his thoughts on Matthew chapter 23. Btw, Great speaker too.
