Team Irvin vs Team Carter. Are you psyched?
Okay, I understand that AFC vs NFC was not drawing a very big audience or much interest. But Team Irvin vs Team Carter is something fans are supposed to give a damn about?
Seriously?
The players don't even get a trip to Hawaii. Why don't they just cancel the Pro Bowl and avoid the possibility of injuries
that might occur. Who the hell would miss it?
The Super Bowl home stadium is decided by the Pro Bowl winner, so the Super Bowl would be played in the home stadium of whichever conference wins.
Interested now?
a slow-pitch softball game between the AFC and NFC would be fun to watch IMO. let the QBs pitch

Slow pitch softball isn't fun to wtch anyone play and even less fun to play in yourself. I could never understand why they usually force an actual pitcher to pitch in these celebrity games when it is slow pitch. It's almost insulting.

No on the Super Bowl deciding factor but I have been saying for years that every team should have the same bye week to make sure the competitive balance is the same.

Ah yes, but have you ever played competitive slow pitch softball? You know, where you DEMAND to win?

Yeah, but how SERIOUS would those games be?
Hehe, sorry Matt, I was being facetious. I was referring to an old poster we had way back in the day, known for his bowling over of women during intense slow pitch softball games.

I'm not sure, but fairly certain you are being facetious. But, I have played in a variety of softball leagues. Some have been very competitive with actually a high level of talent. These were fast pitch or modified where some guys brought in the 70s, which is pretty damn fast at softball distances. I've also played in co-ed beer leagues which I ended up hating and being bored in. But, I absolutely refuse slow pitch...assuming that is the same as the arcing pitches. That is not any fun at all.

But, we had one dick on our team similar to the poster you referenced. We were playing a team that was just terrible. Even when we tried to help them by stopping at first and laying it in when pitching, we were up by double digits in the first or second inning (I don't recall if there was a mercy rule). One guy on our team, after we were way ahead and it was clear this team wasn't likely to even get a player to 2B, he hits a very routine ball that the 2B misses and he just doesn't stop running. The RF bungles it and throws wildly then they throw wildly to 3B when he turns for 3B and he ends up scoring. He was pissed at us when we weren't giving him high fives for his "HR". He was a real douchebag. He ended packing it up when we let him have and claimed to have to be somewhere, but he was just sulking.
Or the English language...

Not even a little. Horrible idea.
AFC vs NFC, whatever conference wins gets to be the "home" team in NEXT years Super Bowl.
Example: Let's say the NFC wins, then the Seahawks will be the "home" team in the Super Bowl next year if they make it.

I enjoy playing softball. It is fun going out there and competing. My favorite leagues have been the wood bat leagues. You can't go up there and mash the ball 350 feet. You have to really place the ball well. I also play for a Co-Ed team (guys swing wood bats) and I can tell you many of the girls that play are the best players out there. Of course that isn't beer co-ed league so it may be different.
As for your most were "intentional walks" thing in Co-Ed I have to call ummm no. If you walk a guy he gets 2 bases in all leagues thus you don't walk a guy if you can and depending on the rules if you walk a guy in utrip tournies, for an example, the Girl is an auto walk also. While in most leagues ASA with 2 outs girls are auto walks.
To each there own though.
What were you looking at?
I used to watch the Pro Bowl if I didn't have something better to do, but this year I will definitely have something better to do. Maybe changing the air in my trailer tires or polishing the spitoon.
As a concept, it's pretty out-dated.
I miss those I remember Cunningham had a Canon for an arm
As a concept, it's pretty out-dated.
While it may be outdated, it's hardly in need of renewed interest. It gets fantastic ratings, and if people are willing to tune in for that crapfest, the nfl is happy to serve it up.
Idk why everybody here hates it. It's a game voted by the fans that has no meaning at all except most of the time recognizing the best players that year.
It means absolutely nothing and is a contact sport unlike basketball and baseball so obviously these guys are going to go all out to play Defense and hit/hurt their friends in a game that has no meaning.
I personally like it. I don't mind watching the offense score a ton of points. It's essentially a dream team. Going to have Romo with DeMarco Murray, Odell Beckham Jr, Emmanuel Sanders and Jimmy Graham on the field together. That's awesome to watch such skilled players on the same team. Most on here just like to bitch about everything. Who cares? How does the game effect you? If you don't like it then don't watch it. Nobody is forcing you to watch. It's quite simple. Also please quit bitching about Odell getting injured. I can't remember the last time a player suffered a serious injury such as a torn ACL in a Pro Bowl game.
Seth Kaplan of FOX 9 News in Minnesota reported that the game received 11.7 million viewers on Sunday, which was a half-million fewer than the 12.2 million viewers the game received in 2013. There were 12.5 million viewers in 2012, per Kaplan.
However, I don't know where you looked up your NBA numbers, but the 2014 Finals did quite a bit better than the number you quoted according to what I found on Google..........
NEW YORK -- The San Antonio Spurs' redemption title was a big hit with television viewers.
Nearly 18 million viewers tuned in to watch the Spurs clinch in Game 5 on Sunday night. That's a 10 percent increase from Game 5 between the same teams last year. Nielsen says viewership peaked at 22.4 million in the last half hour of the Spurs' 104-87 win.
Either that, or NFC vs AFC at bowling.
