FA Safeties

Ray_Ray (NYG) : 1/23/2015 10:34 pm
Bored on a Friday night so I figured I get ya opinion. Which safety who is going to be a FA would you like the Giants to go after? I wouldn't mind someone like Rahim Moore, Ron Parker, Darian Stewart, or Da'Norris Seacy. Your thoughts??
I may be in the minority...

But i think antrel rolle has a resurgence under a new DC. Dont ask me why, just a gut feeling.

have to be careful of Rolle. He's at that age.

Pretty much
i'd
Mr. Nickels : 1/24/2015 1:30 am : link
move on from Rolle
Draft and FA
Mr. Nickels : 1/24/2015 1:32 am : link
for Safety and we have Behre and Cooper Taylor in house. And I really wonder if there is a chance at a Will Hill reunion.
I'd sign Da'Norris Searcy and draft Chris Hackett of TCU in the second

round.
Parker had a breakout season this year
WeatherMan : 1/24/2015 1:57 am : link
would need to do more homework on him but on paper he looks like a great addition.

I concur. Rolle's play was really soft last year and he didn't seem to have the "burst" of year's past in his legs. I just have a feeling the Giants will pass on him and go after a 5th year safety or two. In matter of fact, I think both Demps and Rolle are not likely coming back so two UFA's are a must.
McCourty

will want big $. I think draft a SS high (2nd or 3rd) and try Rolle for one more year.

Rolle is a SS. And that's probably where Taylor and Berhe fit best, too. I don't know how differentiated the roles are going to be under Spagnuolo, but to the extent that they are, the Giants' big need is at FS.
Rolle is not done and should be re-signed if he
Jimmy Googs : 1/24/2015 11:37 am : link
doesn't get too greedy.

He is a football player and lines up each week.

The difference in his ability to make plays this past season is that he didn't have reliable guys around him in Beason and Hill like the year before.
I really like Parker.
arcarsenal : 1/24/2015 12:23 pm : link
I think McCourty is going to get a ton of money.
Yeah, Rolle at this point would be a Madison-type
Big Blue '56 : 1/24/2015 12:25 pm : link
signing..Always a good thing
Rolle
old man : 1/24/2015 3:47 pm : link
will need to be a real bargain to be back. Even then...
They love him but will let him go to be able to fix the broken defense.
Rolle might come back
spike : 1/24/2015 3:54 pm : link
but only at the RIGHT price for the Giants.
I have mixed feelings about Rolle.
Klaatu : 1/24/2015 6:31 pm : link
I'd like to have him back, but the cost seems very high for a guy whose skills seem to be declining. I would not re-sign Brown or Demps. No way, no how.

Rahim Moore (DEN) would be a nice get...so would Darian Stewart(BAL).

In the draft, I like Durrell Eskridge, from Syracuse.
The thing that kills me about Rolle
Gmen703 : 1/24/2015 6:51 pm : link
Is that he can take the most piss poor angles at times.

Id rather we spend the money on a safety with range and ball skills. Rolle isn't that kind of player and he's getting older. For pennies of course I'd keep him but he won't cost pennies.

FS or SS are usually interchangeable in NFL. McCourty is a beast, and he can play anywhere in the secodary. Rolle is getting long in the tooth, and they might take a flyer on two safeties, since they have multiple picks on the 7th round.
rolle
msh : 1/25/2015 6:48 am : link
will only be a giant if he keeps his contract demands low enough and he is getting older and slower, and does make glaring mental errors on his coverage and angles at times too

if they could work out a deal to keep him as the backup and or special teams guy and for a reasonable price then great but i just cant see his ego allowing that

if the train wreck that is demps is on the roster next year they are in all kinds of trouble with the backend of the defence he was terrible
this team needs to build a defense for the future
mdc1 : 1/25/2015 1:32 pm : link
let Rolle go. Take money and rebuild with youth and athleticism/talent. Sure they will make mistakes, but that is the cost of neglect of the defense by this organization.
Most Important Hole To Fill
Rong5611 : 1/25/2015 1:41 pm : link
We do not have a good safety currently under contract.

This is our most important FA acquisition opportunity.

I'd spend to get a top guy. Its a passing league...

If we can get Rolle really cheap, I'd take him back too.

If the right guy is there high in the draft (not the lst round though), I'd grab him too.

Better letting go of a player a year too early than a year too late.
eh
Bill2 : 1/25/2015 5:02 pm : link
A wise safety who knows how to get the back seven to prepare...recruit free agents and keep DRC motivated is worth one more year. Especially if he accepts the 4 safety role
This is the depth chart...
Jimmy Googs : 1/25/2015 6:00 pm : link
Strong Safety
26 Antrel Rolle
34 Nat Berhe
8 Thomas Gordon

Free Safety
27 Stevie Brown
35 Quintin Demps
30 Cooper Taylor

Now, I am all for adding a Safety in Free Agency and another in the Draft, but those would replace Brown and Demps. Rolle needs to be signed for another season even if just for transition to a new group.
