one gave the Giants a chance in this game. Gary Reasons not only made that hit, but he had THE BEST GAME of his entire career in this game. I don't know what got in him that day.
Trivia fact: John Elway never beat the Giants. Tommy Maddox did however.
correctly, Reyna Thompson made a big play in that game too after a Landeta punt after it looked like the Broncos were going to get great field position.
How the hell does an ear flap come flying out of a helmet?
No matter - I guess I have two things to say. One, this is a top 10 Giants moment for me (going back to the late 50s). Two, when are we going to play like this again?
Yup...and Parcells' Giants had a horrible time with the Eagles that year. They had lost to the Eagles the week before in a game that it was assumed cost the Giants the division. They weren't supposed to be Denver.
They clinched against the Raiders in the finale...Dave Meggett's punt return in that game was one of the best plays I've seen a Giant make.
During that game, I kept having flashbacks to that Seattle game in 2005 where we kept missing field goals (Jay Feely). No way I thought Tynes would hit it.

we were not to be denied that day. Totally outplayed the Packers all game long.
Meggett broke a long screen pass and took it all the way that snowy day in Denver.
Yup, and it was on 3rd and 31. William Roberts had a huge block on Simon Fletcher that knocked him completely out of the way, Dennis Smith missed Meggett and he was gone.
more than any other regular season one. Another great game Reasons had was in New Orleans in the LT shoulder- harness epic. He was playing against Hebert, his college teammate and QB of the Saints. Big interception. I liked Reasons a lot, but he did become full of himself, sometimes. Parcells would have to remind him, " Gary, you're not that good." Then he had the regrettable moment with the Bengals when he pulled Shula's cap down over his eyes. That did not go over well, regardless that Shula had no business being an HC at the time.
Not only have I watched this video like it's the Zapruder film, if you locate the still photo of the hit, it's clearly the earpad that goes flying
Greatest hit that I've ever seen. It's so good that Summerall just blurts "Reasons, like a shot!" that doesn't make any sense, and Madden just completely loses his shit.
it was the ear pad. And as Eric said, that was Reasons' best game as a Giant. He had a few big hits on Elway and also had a critical tipped pass that negated a pass interference penalty. Marshall also played really well in that game. It was a typical backs the wall/wounded animal type game by the Giants, who saw their season slipping away after back to back losses.
Yes, this is on my list of games to review, hopefully within the next few weeks. I'm already more than halfway through the 2005 Broncos game now.
The only way we find LBs like that again will be by accident in he draft or some aging Vet who might have a season or two left that he signs for cheap.
So may misses and people are saying OBJ somehow makes up for all of them. To me it just bought him another year. We need better players at other positions besides WR once in a while

Wasn't it his ear flap that came flying out?
And how has that not sunk in with me? :(

good grief - what a great clip! LT, Mark Collins, and a young Meggett.
Eric it is one of my top 3 games ever for the Giants. My favorite of the playoff run behind obviously SB 42.

Loved Meggett, was my favorite all time player at the time. Too bad he turned into a monster. I hate to admit that he was/is a favorite of mine.
