UFC on FOX 14: Gustafsson vs. Johnson
January 24, 2015 | Tele2 Arena | Stockholm, Sweden

FOX, 8 p.m. ET
Alexander Gustafsson vs. Anthony Johnson - Decision
I keep going back and forth on this one and think it really could go either way… “Rumble” Johnson is an absolute beast and finally has his head squared on… Probably the hardest hitter in MMA… One-punch KO power in both fists and an equally devastating left high kick… His sprawl and brawl style is very exciting as he will test anyone’s chin… Ultimately, I see Gus using his speed, footwork, technique to wear Johnson down in the middle and later rounds... Hometown crowd in Sweden will help as well… But a highlight reel Rumble KO wouldn’t surprise me in the least…

Dan Henderson vs. Gegard Mousasi – Decision
Mousasi is the superior striker whereas Hendo is predictable and starting to slow down… If he used some offensive wrestling I could see him putting Mousasi on his back… But he won’t… They’re probably gonna have to drag Henderson into retirement, but the end should be near for him… He’s a legend but clearly doesn’t have another title run in him…

Ryan Bader vs. Phil Davis – Submission
Pretty similar fighters both in style and position in the division… Both great wrestlers and athletes… Bader has some power but otherwise both are subpar strikers… Davis’ stand-up has just never really evolved… He has very little power in his hands… When he fought Rumble (and was the favorite), you knew he was screwed when he couldn’t get it to the ground… Both are gatekeepers in the LHW division…

Akira Corassani vs. Sam Sicilia – TKO

FOX Sports 1, 5 p.m. ET
Nico Musoke vs. Albert Tumenov – TKO
Sultan Aliev vs. Kenny Robertson – Decision
Makwan Amirkhani vs. Andy Ogle – Decision
Nikita Krylov vs. Stanislav Nedkov – TKO
Anthony Christodoulou vs. Mairbek Taisumov – TKO
Mirsad Bektic vs. Paul Redmond – Decision
Konstantin Erokhin vs. Viktor Pesta – KO
Chris Beal vs. Neil Seery – TKO
Solid undercard

Several interesting newcomers to the promotion
Rumble’s highlight reel is terrifying...

bad card
area junc : 1/24/2015 10:52 am : link
but psyched for the main event

i am a big fan of both guys - but i want gustaffson to get his rematch

on a side note: Nick Diaz vs. Anderson Silva: does anyone think Diaz will pull his usual antics vs. Silva? the middle fingers, the disrespect, etc. i love Diaz but think it would be pretty lame doing that to Silva

Unless Silva is completely finished as a fighter he destroys Diaz
I think it will depend on how the fight is going...
Matt G : 1/24/2015 11:20 am : link
If Anderson is lighting him up early on? Probably not.
If Diaz is wearning him down and has Anderson on his back foot? No doubt about it.

While Anderson doesnt flip birds and use a ton of English profanity, he uses very similar tactics inside the cage... The intention is really no different...
All I want to do this evening is relax and watch the UFC

Fights in Europe tend to be a bit more wild like Brazil, fighters feed off the wilder crowds. War Swede, get your rematch with Bones.

Hendo is definitely aging and fading, but unless Mousasi can dictate on the feet and keep Hendo off him, I suspect Hendo grapple grinds him down.
is this live tonight?

Or on delay because it's in Europe?
It's live (i believe)...

Mairbek Taisumov

Has a ton of potential...
Rumble has looked great but

I can't see Gus being dumb. He will use his length and skill to keep this one from getting silly. Johnson needs a knockout early IMO. Don't think he can pull it off. Gus was Jones toughest fight by far. Need to see that rematch.

Moussasi may be as boring to watch as Jake Shields. Love Hendo as he's almost as old as I am but he's done as a top tier fighter.

Phil Davis needs this win. Bader is a tough dude but he's a gate keeper. Davis wins he may be in line after Gus w another top tier win. Still can't believe he beat Machida. Bad decision and all, Davis should never have won. Just hate his stand up.
Heck of a knockout..

by Sam Sicilia there!
Quick stoppage.
LauderdaleMatty : 1/24/2015 9:15 pm : link
But Hendo is done as a top tier fighter and has been since the Shogun fights IMO
Leon Roberts

fucking sucks. That was a horrible stoppage. What the fuck is going on tonight? That's two terrible decisions by the refs.
Well..
FatMan in Charlotte : 1/24/2015 9:51 pm : link
that might give Bones Jones something to really think about!
Rumble steam rolls Gus

Wow. Walked through and just destroyed a great fighter.

Freakish how he uses to try to cut to 170. Jones v Jphnson. Going to be interesting because Jones better not Stan w him. Beyond impressive.
DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN !!!!
blueblood : 1/24/2015 9:51 pm : link
RUMBLE !!!!!
Bones Jones better get off that crack
dpinzow : 1/24/2015 9:53 pm : link
because Rumble Johnson is serious
Rumble is my favorite fighter
B in ALB : 1/24/2015 10:07 pm : link
because he's from Georgia, he has completely turned his life around and he's a fuckin beast. I told my son - also born in GA - that this dude is an animal and he's gonna knock the Swedish dude out quick. The show was of course hyping Gus up - as they should because he's a great fighter - but watching Rumble in complete control and with supreme confidence - you just knew he was going to destroy tonight. He's for real.
Rumble's power is absurd...
Matt G : 1/25/2015 1:35 am : link
Unbelievable comeback... Not the same guy who was choked out by Koscheck...

Some guys can make that cut. It's obvious Johnson couldn't and shouldnt. Damn is Jones in for a fight.
I would be surprised if anyone...
Matt G : 1/25/2015 10:24 am : link
Is making the cut that Rumble was (+60lbs by most account)... The closest I've heard is Johny Hendricks... Key difference is he's 5'9 and fat... It would be a damn shame if Hendricks let a title reign slip through his fingers in favor of a BK Bacon Cheeseburger...

Rampage used to cut a lot but it's obvious
LauderdaleMatty : 1/25/2015 4:19 pm : link
That certain guys just love to pork up when off. Johnson looked great and not like a guy who could drop a weight class like Machida used to at 205.

It's not a simple decision for guys who are tweeners bit Johnson isn't a tweener.
Matt, get a jump on making a Silva/Diaz thread!
