NFT: Anyone here familiar with the Budwig Diet for dogs?

gidiefor : Mod : 1/24/2015 10:32 am
My "puppy" is diagnosed with a large tumor on her spleen, pancreatitis and urinary tract infection, and a friend recommended it to us as a cure - we have treated the pancreatitis and urinary tract infection with antibiotics and she seem to be slowly recovering from those "incidental" symptoms - our vet says the big problem though is the tumor and he didn't offer a rosy prognosis.
Sorry Gidie I haven't,

I just wanted to wish you good luck with everything.
Haven't heard of it...

I knows how you feel about this
We just lost our dog to a tumor located on the front chest

12 year old pit/lab that lived 1.5 years past what the vet thought. Very hard on the dog to operate on tumors located near vital organs. We exercised her, fed her vitamin supplements, and loved her and she vastly exceeded her prognosis
Best of luck with it Gidie.
thanks montana

mine is 14 and change - yeah the vet said operating was not a good idea - I've been reading up on this Budwig diet and it is based on good nutrition - the basic tenet is using a mix of cottage cheese and flax seed oil to improve delivery of oxygen to the vitals -- which slows and even reverses tumor growth. You also add vitamin supplements, probiotics. and non fatty foods to the diet like boiled chicken and rice, and certain fruits and veggies
I have never heard of this until you just posted about it

I wish i had known at the time. Will definitely keep it referenced for the future though
You mix the cottage cheese and flax oil in a certain way
Ira : 1/24/2015 12:23 pm : link
so they form a colloidal suspension. This makes the flax oil water soluble which allows it to enter cells. It was formulated by a German chemist named Johanna Budwig. The link below shows how it's done.

Never heard of this until now

Sorry this is happening to your family member. Several years ago we had one of our Shih Tzus battling lymphoma using chemo. Alas the cancer got ahead of the treatment and we had to have him put to sleep.

Wish I had heard of this before. We certainly would have tried it.

Best of luck!!

thanks for posting that video - that really helped

I have made her the first batch with her base recipe and added probiotics and vitamin C in this go round -- boy she gobbled it up with enthusiasm
