Geoff Schwartz, the top OG last year, got under 5 per and each has their warts. If Boling comes at half Iupati then I take that but I see Iupati only landing a comparable deal to Schwartz
i would take iupati because he has been the consistently better player. if they could get him in the 4-5 per range that would free up a mid range pick in the draft and give them a tested commodity over a rookie draft pick who wouldnt probably start week 1

And we saw in 2015 precisely why Schwartz only got that much - lack of durability. Put on IR TWICE in the same year.

Are you inferring that the terms of the Schwartz contract were based on projected injuries for the 2014 season? As far as I know he had no injury history to speak of.
Jon Asamoah got a slightly better deal than Schwartz.
He is the better all around blocker. Lupati is a great run blocker and awful pass blocker. Franklin is a tremendous pass blocker and OK run blocker. Boling is good at both and he will be the cheapest
pugh to LG is already done. u would not hear people mentioning it in public otherwise
i think the million dollar question is can orlando franklin play RT again? he had a very good year in 2013. if so he is the closest thing to mckenzie on the market and exactly what we need
if not, derek newton sounds like a Giants-type guy. would take him over bulaga

and that's where he played his best in college (also played a little bit of LT at Miami). Believe I remember hearing this year the Broncos moved him inside hoping to ignite more of a power running game.
Back to the original question, I think Franklin at that number would be a great pickup. Let him and Pugh both fight for RT and LG in training camp. Then you can still pickup a couple of lineman in the draft who can be groomed to eventually replace Beatty and Schwartz while providing depth in the interim since both are somewhat injury prone. Franklin would give this team tons of flexibility and he'd also bring some more 'nasty' to the line.
They need to have a limited injury history and hopefully be 28 or younger. Continuity on the line is important and since the decline of the Diehl Snee Ohara Seubert McKenzie line which was a stalwart for years,Giants have had instability.
If there is a young buck- borderline blue chip OL in this draft that can start from day 1, I'd have no issue picking that guy at 9 to help protect Eli in his few remaining prime years.
is an excellent run blocker but he struggles at times in pass pro. The Giants need to protect Eli and would be better served using that money towards another OL.
bringing in a starter at RT and moving Puch to LG. Pugh can then be the "Swing tackle" in case of injury. Also need to add one C/G back-up.
The reason I am excited about the possibility of Pugh at Guard is that he could swing out to OT if there is an injury to either the LT or RT and provide solid play which you don't usually get from a backup OT.
Guy not talked about as much is Barksdale. He could play the RT spot as well and may come at a lower cost than the 'brand' names.
Still prefer going OL round 1, leaning towards Peat and Collins (if BPA value is similar) and picking up a swing guy better than Jerry who can fill in if injury hits.
A year after grading out as a top-eight right tackle at Pro Football Focus, Barksdale is the site's top-ranked run blocker at the position. But he's given up 24 hurries in pass protection.
The Giants did have interest in Barksdale when he was waived by the Raiders, but the Rams had the higher claim and beat them to the punch.

And Iupati is coming off injuries and is questionable as a pass blocker. That salary is living on the hype of earlier in his career

Or Jeremy Parnell
Is he better at RT or guard?

If they do grab one of Franklin, Iupati,Boling etc. it still doesn't preclude an OL selection at 9 if the value is there.
