BUFFALO
Graham Buffalo News: Bills dare to dream of future
"There’s a tremendous gap between some of the best and worst teams,” Bill Parcells told The Buffalo News this week, “but your franchise isn’t one of them with a big gap.”
"You’ve got to have a vision for what you’re trying to do. You’ve got to know what you’re looking for, and you’ve got to make every effort to acquire it,” Parcells said.
“I don’t know that there’s any one blueprint,” Parcells said of the salvage process. “The problems aren’t identical, but they’re usually about the same.
“The most significant thing that I can tell you – that is vital – is you must have a philosophy on personnel,” Parcells said. “You must know what kind of player you’re looking for and how they will fit into the system you’re going to employ.
“If you don’t have that, then you’re just picking ‘This guy is a good player,’ but in the end he’s really not for you because he doesn’t fit what you’re trying to do
“People say, ‘Why don’t you adjust the system as you go along?’ ” Parcells said. “Tom Landry told me when I was a young coach starting out, ‘If you start drafting exceptions to what you want to do, pretty soon you’re going to have a team full of exceptions.’ "

http://www.jsonline.com/sports/packers/packers-2014-team-report-card-b99431310z1-289705181.html?ipad=y

McGinn Mil JS: Packers 2014 individual report card: Offense
"Randall Cobb: Sluggish in training camp and Games 1-3, he then emerged as one of the NFL's brightest young stars. Made play after play from the slot. Quick-twitch athlete could gain instant separation against almost every nickel back. Led the team in yards after catch with an average of 5.98 yards and in 20-plus plays with 26, nine more than his previous high of 17 in 2012. Developed into a fearless, effective blocker. Actually appeared to like drawing assignments cracking back on strong safeties, even linebackers. Also played 46 snaps stationed in the backfield, including 33 in the last five games after Mike McCarthy saw how dynamic he was in that role. Re-signing Cobb is priority No. 1 in the off-season. Agent Jimmy Sexton won't make it easy, but Cobb earned all the leverage. Dropped nine of 145 passes after not having a drop in 46 targets last year. Grade: A-minus."

"Bryan Bulaga: All-NFC North RT in 2011, '12 and '14. Bounced back from ACL surgery in August 2013 and played more forcefully as the season went on. Only starter on offense to miss a start (Game 2, sprained knee). Began really punishing defenders from about midseason on. More of a RT or guard than a LT based on body type and athletic ability. Slightly more consistent blocking for run than pass. Had fewest "bad" runs on O-line with 10. Can be walked back in pass protection when his hands get too wide. Generally able to settle in and halt bull rushers before they get home. Four of his 22½ pressures were sacks. Expected to be the top tackle on the unrestricted market if he's still available March 10. Grade: B-plus."

Former Giants News:

Keith Arkansas Online: Gregory Lasker Former NFL player back in Conway to 'build community'
"When he signed with the Giants for $200,000, he thought he was a billionaire, he said.
“You’ve got the cat by the tail; you’re the toast of the town,” Lasker said. “It was a whirlwind opportunity.” He was a defensive player, a safety.

One thing he remembers about Super Bowl XXI is that he acted out of character. “It was the only time that I actually got caught up in the hype. I was on the punt team. … [The game] was such a spectacle that I became a fan. I caught myself not participating.” Lasker stood up from the table to demonstrate. “I’m standing on the sidelines, and I’m watching the game, and I hear, ‘Lasker, Lasker, Lasker.’ Here I am daydreaming, and I’m looking around the stands, and I’m supposed to be on the field.” He got on the field in time, and the team didn’t have to take a time out, he added.

Lasker, who was a rookie, also recalled that he saw Harry Carson and George Martin, longtime Giants, get emotional after the game. “I look over, and they’re crying, and I don’t have that sort of blood-sweat-and-tears enthusiasm,” Lasker said.
