The NFL Media draft expert thinks University of Miami tight end Clive Walford is going to run between a 4.6- five-second 40-yard dash time at the NFL Combine in February. Wherever in that window, Mayock said the time is tremendous for the 6-4, 254-pounder.
“Yeah, I think we have the most explosive tight end here in this year’s draft on the field right now,” said Mayock when Walford took the practice field at the Senior Bowl this week.
Mayock watched the tape. He said Walford is a “pass first, block later” tight end, which is a more modern style of play at the position.
He could see it in Walford’s game film from when the team played Florida State.
The Giants met with Michigan LB Jake Ryan at the East-West Shrine Game. Ryan won the Pat Tillman award, "presented to the player who best exemplifies intelligence, sportsmanship and service."
In recent years, the Giants have drafted a couple of kids who stood out in the Shrine Game - Cooper Taylor and Jay Bromley. I'd love to see them make it three in a row by drafting Ryan.
albeit Ryan doesn't exactly have a high standard to aspire to. If the Giants are interested, I hope he is better than his predecessors.
Klaats (hope you don't mind the nickname I've annointed), which, if any, of the players above listed by jeff57 do you see as draft-worthy (for starters I assume the Miami TE) as vs. post-draft FA? Thank you

"- Earlier this week I stated the New York Giants have taken a liking to Lynden Trail of Norfolk State. Later that day I was told general manager Jerry Reese was making calls inquiring about Trail during the early evening hours. Dimensions wise Trail compares to Jason Pierre-Paul." More so than JPP when he came out but definitely intriguing. What raised the other eyebrow is when he took snaps at TE during practice and even caught a TD.

Walford is a matchup nightmare.
Like Walford alot. If MacAdoo could turn Donnell into a viable TE, imagine what he could do with Clive. We finally saw the seam pass being exploited with some frequency, Clive could be a match up nightmare with the attention given to Odell. As Mac maximized Odell ability and moved him all over I'd love too see what he does with a speedy TE.

Nice lets focus on that stuff instead of players that bust the opponent in the mouth and making a difference in games..

Yes, let's pretend that the Giants aren't paying attention to the Shrine Game, when clearly they have been. Let's go all bust 'em in the mouth on people.

go watch the disney channel if you don't like the comment.
Are you saying a Pat Tillman award winner "can't also bust people in the mouth?" Is the award given to the softest football player out there with a kind heart? I'm just confused.
Last time I checked, Pat Tillman was pretty good hard hitting safety, and an American hero in my book. All the best to the young LB from Michigan regardless of who drafts him.
I saw a lot to like from many prospects in the game. This is a deep RB class, and the Giants could come away with a very good change of pace back. I continue to like David Johnson of Northern Iowa, who shows great vision, good hands, and surprised by turning kicks. I also like the FB/HB Varga from Yale. Not sure if he is a lead blocker at the next level, but he is versatile, good hands, hustles on specials and can play three positions for you. 7th round pick in my view, Giants have two to spare.
The WRs, while not full of top flight talent like last year, are still a very deep class. I continue to like Lockhart as he can do a lot for you, is quick with good hands, and runs good routes. Smith from Ohio State really impressed me with that special teams tackle, but I think he is still raw.
Very few linemen played poorly. I really like the RT Havenstein out of Wisconsin as a later round pick. Could be a developmental future starter at RT.
THe DT Davis from Iowa is a monster, too bed he completely undercut his draft value with his terrible interviews. NFL teams are going to wonder how motivated he will be once he starts getting paid millions to play.
If Jerry Reese liked the DE Trail before Saturday, he loves him now. That guy moves so fluidly for a big man. He is pushing 6'7" but can run sideline to sideline and keep up with the TEs. He is from a small school so I doubt he goes in the top two rounds, but a poor mans JPP is a good comparison. Nice project to have and groom. He needs to work on technique and the hand-to-hand combat part of rushing the passer, but he has huge upside.

In that game, Walford recorded game-high totals of four catches for 127 yards, including a 61-yard touchdown catch.

All of the players listed are draft-worthy. Whether they all will get drafted and in what round is anybody's guess.
