NGT: Colts frontrunners for D. Carter, Nicks status unclear

Defenderdawg : 1/25/2015 10:25 am
It could be do to Wayne's situation but Nicks could have another new team in 2015...

Holder Ind Star: Colts frontrunners for CFL star WR Duron Carter

"Wide receiver is a need for the Colts considering the expiring contracts of Reggie Wayne and Hakeem Nicks. Wayne is weighing retirement and it's unclear whether Nicks will be re-signed."

Nicks was looking a little better towards the tail end of the year

I wonder if he'd be an option for us.

I pray not..He's either damaged physically as FMiC has asserted or he's a lazy bastid..

Regardless, no..
Would love to bring Nicks back.

I doubt Nicks would come back here, barring it being his last resort.
Devon : 1/25/2015 10:35 am : link
There was something clearly very wrong between he and TC that last season, even dating to that preceding offseason with how he handled not attending OTAs.
Jcn56: I doubt it. The offense is quite different...

...and he seems to have burned some bridges. The guy who might vote in favor is Sean Ryan, but how much say does he have?
he's obviously damaged physically
chris r : 1/25/2015 10:36 am : link
that TB game and playing through the season with those injuries ruined him. Its a shame, he's the same age as Dez Bryant and was one of the best WR in the league.

He's certainly burned some bridges (that game where he expected to play but was a scratch seemed to be evidence of that).

I wonder about the physically damaged goods though - I saw him play a few times last year, and while I didn't go back and focus on him specifically, it did look to me in a quick observation that he was better towards the end of the season than earlier on. Not sure if that was effort, if it was familiarity with a new offense and QB, or if it was just a very slow road to recovery.
To add,
Big Blue '56 : 1/25/2015 10:39 am : link
The Randle who ended the year, is better, perhaps much better than the Nicks who ended this year, imo..

Granted, we'll have to wait and see if this was just a Randle tease, but regardless, he's much healthier than Nicks is

Who would have ever thought that after that game Nicks would be damaged goods with one foot out the door while Talib would be a pro bowler with a huge contract.
Bring back Spags, bring back Nicks
Bluester : 1/25/2015 10:41 am : link
Heck, they should bring back Bradshaw, Osi, Tuck and Jared Lorenzen. We're gettin' the band back together !!!

Yeah, that game made it look like Cruz and Nicks were going to be clearly the best 1-2 WR punch in the game for the coming years. They just dominated. Too bad.

meter left on?

Yeah, Hakeem opened his big mouth about having Andrew instead of Eli throwing to him......his lowest number of receptions in a year for him....his lowest yards per catch in a year for him.....and just 4 td's? wow....The guy gets no separation whatsoever.....if he coninues to play in the NFL, the best he can hope for, will be one year contracts....not even the Oakland Raiders are stupid enough to give him a multi year deal....the speed is not there....the 2011 season is a distant memory....
Honestly, the homer in me wouldn't mind bringing him in for a one year
RC02XX : 1/25/2015 11:07 am : link
Stint like we did with Manningham. Maybe he can revive his career? Maybe?
We need to be younger and
UConn4523 : 1/25/2015 11:10 am : link
faster everywhere we can. A broken down Nicks with a shitty attitude is the last thing this team needs.
No
AcidTest : 1/25/2015 11:21 am : link
to Nicks. Can't get separation, and there were clearly problems between him and Coughlin. We need to get younger and healthier. Nicks takes us in the wrong direction.

Makes me sad just thinking about it. Thank God for OBJ/ODB.
The Giants have done very well at WR the last ten years
chris r : 1/25/2015 11:36 am : link
The only gap in having a top notch WR was after Plexico shot himself and before Nicks emerged.

Nicks Is Coming Back Here
Samiam : 1/25/2015 12:10 pm : link
The way Plax was coming back here. Will not happen.
no
Peter from NH (formerly CT) : 1/25/2015 12:20 pm : link
He probably isn't being asked back to Indy and Andrew Luck was throwing to him. Its a shame but he is no longer the player he was for a couple of years as a Giant.

The first part of your post is absurd. Some fans will do anything to try and find a slight against Eli when it isn't there. Nicks did NOT trash Eli. Give me a fucking break.

I'd love to see Nicks back, fuck it. As long it's for the right price. Seeing Nicks catch another TD in a Giants uni would be amazing.
At best he would be the #3 for us right now
PatersonPlank : 1/25/2015 2:17 pm : link
Not sure the money he thinks he is worth would be worth it for a #3 or #4 WR (depending on Randle or a draft choice battling for #3 too).
Nicks will never be a Giant again
ZogZerg : 1/25/2015 2:23 pm : link
It sounds like he may not even be in the NFL next year.
From what I have been reading this draft will have a lot of good wr's,
213374 : 1/25/2015 2:42 pm : link
why would the Jints want to bring back a used up Nicks? They are looking to get younger and faster, Nicks has nothing to offer.
Nicks has no status. He is done. He played on the most pass-happy
Jimmy Googs : 1/25/2015 3:22 pm : link
team in the NFL and still couldn't get open and catch balls for first first downs.

He'll only make a team in 2015 that has Stevie Wonder for its GM...

He isn't an option.
Nicks will never again
TMS : 1/25/2015 5:23 pm : link
approach being the player he was with us. He is strictly a possession receiver who has lost a lot of steps and moves. Still has the good hands but that is all, and that is not enough.
