Anybody like Michigan WR Funchess?

TC : 1/25/2015 5:10 pm
I obviously like his size, but he drops some.

However, he's surprisingly quick for a big guy, and runs very well after the catch.

Probably a 2nd rounder, so I suspect the Giants may not be looking his way.

He appears regularly near the bottom of the first round...

...in the mock drafts I've seen. New England seems to be a popular choice, I guess the draftniks see him as the replacement for Aaron Hernandez.
Huge catching radius

very nimble for his size. But is a bit of a tweener. Don't think he is much of an inline blocker or will become one. It will come down to how well he can play out wide. Can he beat a NFL CB regularly with either size or speed? I like him quite a bit though but want to see his combine.

Will make or break him is he a WR, motion TE or specialty guy can't see him in the 1st round today. He is very young only 21 in May but his weight and speed will help or hurt his positional options going forward. If he is 240 a 4.6 or better is great but 230 and a 4.6 takes him out of the WR position most likely. He has the NFL body for a big physical WR with limited speed but does not have much experience as a blocking TE.
Mis -used at Michigan

They did little to show what he does/does not have.
I agree: the combine will decide what he is.
My guess any where mid 2 to mid 4th.

As NO.
I watched him all year.

Big Michigan fan here. The guy is talented and physically gifted but this year he regressed dramatically in my opinion and he dropped A LOT of easily catchable balls. I'm not going to grade him, but I was disappointed with his play this year.

UM fan here too, and I agree that he dropped many.
Might have been lack of concentration, Gardner, or as I said misused. Likely a little of all 3.
The Combine, and both skills performance and the interviews as well, will say where he goes.

This. Also what is he? A TE or a WR? Somebody corrected noted that right now he won't be an inline blocker in the NFL at TE. But despite the drops, he still has a lot of talent. But the Giants should pass.

I've read 6'5", 230. I think Plax was 235, not that this guy is Plax. Very quick and seems to run decent roots, but as many have mentioned, I'm bothered by his drops.

He's got impressive lower body development, particularly for a tall guy. Very thick musculature.
Saw him 3 or 4 times last season

I'm still trying to figure out why anyone has a 1st rd. grade on him. A definite tweener who doesn't fit the Giants at WR or TE. Would be a better fit for New England, but not in Round 1.
