Odell Beckham said he played all year with two tears in his hamstrings. He says he's still not 100%. Amazing.

Beckham said his injury was obviously particularly against the Eagles and Colts, when he was "stumbling" and falling over ..

... Of course, it should be noted he caught 8 passes for 156 yards in that game against the Colts.
So wait...full strength Odell could be even better?
ODB has had a history with hamstring problems, and could ultimately be the one thing that limits him as a player. This would be a lot more exciting if it was reported that his hamstrings were 100% healed than to just read that it's still a problem.
RE: I'm not sure why people are excited about this

They're excited because of what he produced on two hamstrings at 80% and now he has a whole offseason to heal up?
But I remember a couple of offseason articles stating such. If there's doubt about whether he had hamstring issues in college then I'll dig up an article.
"And thats why the Giants much-hyped first-round pick, who has been sidelined with a hamstring issue since the first day of training camp, is still sitting out. Beckham, who has dealt with hamstring issues since college, said its almost that time to return. He just needs his top gear." Link - ( New Window )
he had to work through which were a normal part of his conditions process. He never pulled or tore a hammy, just had to get them loose from working out
Which turned into a tear that hasn't completely healed. Hamstring issues are tricky and reoccurring. Just read his quote himself about the hamstring. That quotes a lot more telling than anything else.
This is looked at as some form of good news when it's at best something to not worry about and at worst just bad news.
send him into battle when his hammies were at only 80% and risk further, more severe injury? Didn't Reese and Coughlin realize that OBJ could have saved their jobs? (:
...at what he was able to do on legs that weren't even 100%
The need to tell everyone to stop being excited and that it's more likely bad news than good news is probably not necessary.
But yeah, I specifically remember a play in the Colts game where he caught a pass and looked like he was going to bust it all the way into the endzone but he got caught. I thought maybe he was winded or something but it was probably this. Hopefully he can heal it up a bit this offseason.

Last summer. Hurts like a bitch and took about two months with PT to heal. Still hurts once in a while, but not bad. I think it def slows me down running even today...but I'm a 28 year old, not a 21 year old super star athlete.
OBJ who is amazing and made this season for me, in that his impact on the field was so noticable that it was fun to watch and actually at times see him dominate will likely always be battling this type of thing.
IIRC in college he always played in games but frequently missed practice.
He is such a special athlete that can perform at such a high level of performance that i think he'll always have to be carefully managed, and the 100% health I believe will be elusive for him.
It sounds like he never expects to be truly 100 percent again. Granted, his 80 or 90 percent is better than most others' 100 percent.
Hamstring muscle tears don't really have the degenerative affect that hamstring tendon injuries can have, but those athletes are more susceptible to reinjury.
That being said, hamstring strains and tears are among the most common injuries in athletes, so it's likely there are plenty of active and former players with some hamstring problems.
its not a lingering thing with him.. We need him to be good for a long time... The main reason why this year's offense was better than 2013 was him..
I have to believe with an off-season of treatment and rest he'll be 100% for OTA's and pre-season.
It is exciting to think what he brings to the table. It isn't just the fact that he'll be drawing double-teams but that he also beats double teams! That makes things so so much easier for the rest of the team.
I mean, can you imagine how good this offense could be if Randle in fact emerges as a realistic threat along with Cruz in the slot and Donnell & Robinson at TE?
I could see this offense using a lot of two TE sets where we can run with some power OR throw to either superb wideout on 1st down. Just amazing when you have a total game changer on the other side!
why the hell was he out there in that game? Reminds you of Snee(went to the pro bowl, and then had surgery) doing the same thing, for a freakin' paid vacation....I guess they don't get paid enough....
attempts at double teams on him this past year......but he definitely will see it next year.....that has to open the passing game for the other receivers......
Donnell is still a project, and the other TE's are just guys.
If your saying OBJ is so good he makes ordinary guys good, I agree with the sentiment, but the NYG need some more depth at the play-maker level because we really saw the difference between OBJ and Cruz in that when OBJ wasn't on the field teams shut us down. When Cruz wasn't on the field and OBJ was OBJ was a force.
We need another playmaker. I'm not convinced Randle is that guy.
I come down on the side of those who say he should have skipped the Pro Bowl if this story is true.
And, even better, with his injured hamstring he's out there kicking 45-yard-field goals? I'm no doctor but I don't believe that's the prescribed method to heal a hammy.
Its still not right. Im still wrong on it, trying to get it 100 (percent) for next yearI could never really have that last gear that I wanted to have. If you go look at the Colts game and the Philly game, every time I went to break away I was stumbling and tripping, trying to fall over just because my hamstring wasnt strong enough to maintain all that. That is something Im working on today and Ill keep working on throughout the offseason.
There have been posters that have tossed that notion that he had issues at LSU re since the day he was drafted, and every time I see it I always ask for any factual link backing up the claim..and never, not once has anyone provided any actual information on Beckham having ever had hamstring issues at LSU. And that's because it's fiction.
A case of a poster making a incorrect claim based on hearsay, and then other posters regurgitating it.
He's got 6 months to heal up. If he's smart about it, that's plenty of time.
Obviously without examining him or being privy to the individual medical details, does "heal up" mean he'll still be more prone to reinjure it than if he hadn't torn it in the first place or does scar tissue form to make it less likely to reinjure it?
I told you I told you it was torn. Blood spotting mentioned this Summer and I told you dolts it was torn. I also said he'd be IRd so f me on that but damn straight..blood on the hammy = tear.

We are not worthy! Enjoy some rest OBJ

Probably because the risk of injuring himself wasn't realistically any higher than it would've been were he 100% healthy.
If you hadn't known he was coming back from an injury, would you ever have guessed that he was, while watching the last 8-9 games of the season?
CANT. WAIT.
"He got that dog in him!"
Reese NEEDS to go. Him and his whole staff, fired.
<sarcasm off>

And this is coming off a shit 6-10 year!
Mind you, if "80%" is what we saw in 2014, we could live with that.
