it was kind of normal in my old neighborhood to hear people shovel at off hours like that. Although, every neighborhood is different, it depends more on the people you live around.
I don't really understand why you would, but... I don't see why you couldn't.
Everything you shovel is just going to get re-covered and buried, though. Well, it depends where you are and how much snow you'll get.. but where I am, there's supposed to be blizzard conditions around that time. I'd assume it wouldn't be the safest idea to be outside shoveling during that.
I would shovel late like that just so that it would be easier to finish the next day instead of trying to dig out 2 feet of snow in one shot, do a few quick shovels during the storm. Then drink coffee, or whiskey. Or whiskey and coffee.

Depends how you're clearing the driveway. If you have a heavy duty snow blower, then just wait until the end. If you're shoveling or have a small/mid size blower, you probably need to go out (at least) twice for a storm like this.
It is looking like right around 9 PM is when conditions get so serious that traveling could put your life at risk. Travel between midnight and noon tomorrow will just simply be life-threatening, there’s really no better way to put that.
I'd be concerned about the wind affecting trees and power lines at that hour. Best to save the shoveling til the morning. Be safe. Link - ( New Window )
but I also clear out half the block, so if anything the sound of my blower to these guys is just music to their ears, confirmation that they won't be doing any shoveling.
Shit, come to think of it, I'd like to be the one in bed listening to the snowblower for once.
The sound of a shovel scraping a driveway would really travel in the quiet of night. It likely would wake a neighbor by the time you did an entire driveway, that is a lot of noise.
Seriously though, I kind of miss the feeling of getting out in a snow storm and shoveling deep snow. I am sure after one hour of shoveling I wouldn't miss it again for a long time, but I do miss it a little none the less.

Exactly. At night, the sound of the shovel will carry forever. I live next to a church and whatever company they hired to do their lawns and snow removal routinely comes from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. to plow their parking lot. It's ridiculously annoying.
is out cutting the green behind my house every morning at 6:30. We're kinda immune to it!
Oh that's not what you meant?
When I was in Jersey and had to get to work, the driveway had to get done. 2 AM is a little early but the neighbors understand if you have to get to work.... check with them and tell them you have to get an early start. If you don't have to get out then I'd wait!
I live 5 miles from your favorite school... and we're getting a bit of a cold spell here ourselves... just 74 degrees today, and with the 15 mph winds, it feels more like 65mph. For lunch i actually decided to keep my suit jacket on as I ate outside.
Tonight its supposed to drop to 55.. i guess i'll stay out of the pool.
Enjoy!
No, you absolutely cannot shovel your driveway at 2am Â
Sometimes I shovel, and sometimes I use the snowblower, depending on the amount of snow. I have neighbors on each side of my house, and I always feel like an a-hole making noise that early.

Use the snowblower. Much quicker.

Kentucky has been absolutely great for me, no complaints other than I do miss good pizza.
