NFT: Night Will Fall-HBO

Second Generation Survivor I thought I saw enough film footage of the Concentration Camps to grasp what happened. Wrong, I was stunned by what I saw and to be honest although it is not healthy, my feelings towards the German people that did this makes me vengeful all over again. To the Denier's I wish you the worst possible
Havent seen it yet but

I hear you. Saw a news report on Survivors Return to Auschwitz last night on the news and I said to my daughter "Id have a hard time ever dating a German woman. " I know its short sighted but its still the way I feel.

Started watching it

Couldn't sit through it, far too troubling. Germany still cannot be punished enough. My entire adult life I have not bought a German product. I also admonish my friends with their BMW's VW's and Mercedes, especially my Jewish ones.

What level of punishment do you think Germans born after 1945 should bear to this day?
My wife is German

Since she's only 36 I can let her slide on the whole genocide holocaust thing. Her parents and grandparents were all born in the USA too. So we're cool.

The people that lived right under the canopy of these death camps throughout eastern and Western Europe had to live with their apathy. They had to go to sleep at night knowing they turned the other way while thousands upon thousands were systematically being wiped out right in their backyard. I suspect it wasn't easy for most of them.

What a staggering shitty terrifying period that was.
In many instances
djm : 1/28/2015 10:21 am : link
When allied forces would come upon a death camp they would force the locals to walk into the camps and see what was left behind and even bury the bodies.

None, the companies that profited from the death camps and slave labor are the entities that should bear the punishment. The people who were alive during that time have had to live with their acquiescence.

Got it. I was confused by your statement that "Germany can not be punished enough."

The last scene shows exactly that. Making the townspeople walk by the corpses
I found the post-liberation
B in ALB : 1/28/2015 11:27 am : link
politics and subsequent displacement of prisoners very disturbing as well. Particularly the american and British stance that the original film not be shown in Germany so as to encourage the German people to rebuild Germany and eventually help in the fight against communism.

I take it you don't buy Fords then, either?
and maybe the most horrific part
Stu11 : 1/28/2015 11:37 am : link
were the stories of survivors returning to their homes that had been given to Germans and being shot for trespassing.
The politics were that the U.S. Great Britan Russia Italy France
Headhunter : 1/28/2015 11:49 am : link
were horrified about dead Jews but wanted nothing to do with Jews that lived
I watched it the other day

Like all holocaust rlated film reeels its highly disturbing.
Based on some of the ocmments, I'd suggest watching Hitler's Children if you have Netflix. Its a doc on children/grandkids of nazis.

I feel the same way. To this day, whenever I sneeze in public and someone says Gesundheit, I punch them in the face. Freaking enablers.
