Who is the worst Giant you've ever seen play? Dumb penalties, getting burned always, just sucking. Now I'm far from any type of football guru, but one player that really stood out to me as the worst I've seen was 2009 CC Brown. I just remembered him constantly getting burned, or a crucial personal foul that cost us dearly. I remember him being ultra bad against the Lions that year. And when the Panthers blew us out in the final game at Giants Stadium. Vikings too. Now I've only been a Giants fan since 2005 when I was 12 so maybe there's a guy in the 90s that blew harder but I'll just open up the discussion with that. Fuck CC Brown.

Ryan Phillips, taken before Jason Taylor.
Ryan Phillips was a DE conversion who didn't quite work out. He was a somewhat below average starting LB on a good defense. How this translates to "worst Giant ever" is beyond me.
how about former redskins 1st rounder-
''New York Giants[edit]
In April 2006, Arrington agreed to a seven-year, $49 million contract with the New York Giants. He was injured in week 7 against the Dallas Cowboys and missed the rest of the season with a ruptured Achilles tendon. On February 12, 2007, he was released by the New York Giants.''
(basically seemed very gimpy, unless my memory is shot, prior to the heel tear)

Dorsey Levens was pretty fucking bad the year he was here.
Dorsey Levens was impressive against the Eagles.
LOL, what was the back story on that? I know it has been a BBI meme forever but I don't know where it originated or who said it.
It was the headline on the BBI home page after we played the Eagles, and then for whatever reason that page "froze" and was up there for six weeks or something. It became comical considering that Levens was not impressive overall.
Haha. That's good.
I don't remember him being impressive as a Giant.. ever.
October 19, 2003, we lost to the Eagles 14-10 - Levens had 16 carries for 64 yards, with a long of 17. When we lost to them again in November, Levens had 4 carries for 1 yard. I think "Dorsey Levens Was Impressive Against the Eagles" was still the BBI homepage headline at that time.
Herzlich might be one of the worst LBs I've ever seen as well. Not sure he's seen a play action he hasn't bitten on.
Junkin and Charlie Brown are definitely top 10 though.
Who brought up Dave Thomas? Not me. He wasn't good, but I wouldn't put him in the running for worst ever.
That said, Junkin failed on 9% of his plays in blue (7 kicks, 4 punts)!
Charlie Brown might've been even worst in his 1 start...
Tommy Maddox
Thomas Lewis (Lewis Thomas (?))
Rocky Thompson
Finally, I can't remember the name of the awful first draft choice (5th overall) from Oklahoma-- the right defensive end who was blind in one eye
Myers from 2013 was worse IMO at TE
Not only that, we cut a decent and relatively inexpensive returner for him... dammit I can't remember his name. I was so pissed when they cut him for Mitchell and the fork sticking out of his back.
Honorable mention to Bobby Duhon for the old timers. I swear he fumbled every punt return.

Chris Calloway was his supposed #1 receiver. His other receivers included the likes of Thomas Lewis, Lawrence Dawsey, Arthur Marshall and Omar Douglas. His tight ende were Howard Cross and Aaron Pierce. His running backs were Rodney Hampton's expanding waistline, the perpetually bored Ty Wheatley and Keith Elias. His OL included such stalwarts as the original Human False Start Scott Gragg and Greg Bishop.
The guy might never have been much of a QB, but he had absolutely nothing to work with either.
Ha Ha Ha! "The Human False Start Scott Gragg" he was my second thought after CC Brown. I can't tell you how many times I wanted to kick my TV when that fucking village idiot Gragg would go offsides!!
Maybe I'm wrong, but wasn't Gragg a solid O-lineman who went on to have some very good years in SF?
Sonic, yes he went on to have a decent career with SF and was on the field for that debacle against them, but he totally sucked while with us! I would see a SF game and bitch why he couldn't be like that with us!!!
Hah! yep, that's the one, good memory!
I still have extreme slow motion, nightmarish visions of Marcellus Rivers and his cement shoes being passed by Westbrook on his way to an 84 yard punt return back breaking game winning TD.
Dammit.
He is the only player I've seen return a kick, after fielding it cleanly, and not make the 10 yard line.
Yet people were clamoring for him to return kicks because he had one decent return.

But he was definitely my most hated Giant. It burned my ass just to see him wear the uniform.

My memory could be faulty here, was it Bashir Levingston?
I like your choice, Bama. I was going to suggest Gus Coppens who played tackle in 1979 and got run over by just about everybody. Not really his fault. He was drafted in the 12th round by the Rams, released, and in desperation the Giants picked him up. If you think the O line the last two years have been godawful, you should have seen the 1979 version.
Herzlich might be one of the worst LBs I've ever seen as well. Not sure he's seen a play action he hasn't bitten on.

I wanted to mention hosley but thought it a little too soon to judge him completely. Not saying he's going to go from shit to good, more like shit to poop
But Ian Allen is probably a better choice. Soooo bad.
And Matt Dodger is definitely the best choice. A punter shouldn't have that kind of negative affect on a team. I should have to hold my breath every time the long snapper snaps the ball to you.
Brandon Myers was embarrassingly bad too. He put up the emptiest stats I've ever seen from any Giants player ever. And his stats weren't even that good lol.
Seeing Dave Thomas mentioned a few times surprises me. The guy wasn't that good but he was a starting CB on a team that went to the Super Bowl and had a top 5 defense. He was slow as fucking molasses but he held up reasonably well in 2000 all things considered. We have seen WAY worse than that at DB over the last couple of decades. I'd argue we've undoubtedly seen worse in the last 5 years on more than one occasion.
Matt Doge, as another said... I cant recall another punter that had as much of an effect on a games as his horrid performances did...
Gary Jeter, mark Haynes,Arron Pierce, Derrick Brown
Dave Brown Danny Kanell Thomas Lewis all the Reeves
New Jersey Broncos Carlton Grey Cory Widmer,Carlton Baily
Keith Elias. Lurch Greg bishop Ian Allen Herschel walker,
Herman Moore Dave Thomas, Ron Dayne
I can go on all day.
Nick Greisen also was injured that game.
Kevin Lewis, undrafted MLB from Duke stepped in and did not belong on the field.
He quit on the team and plays more than a few times.
I see your Hicks with Brad Benson and Luke Pettigrout
Runner Up: Cedric Jones
Link - ( New Window )
I cringed every time I saw him on the field. I remember being elated when he was picked early in the expansion draft by Jacksonville (or Carolina?)

Earnest Gray - are you kidding? He caught 10 touchdown passes in 1980, and 27 in six years with the Giants. He also had 78 receptions in 1983. He was good receiver, not great, but good. Simms once said of Gray, "Nobody gets open like Earnest."
