"Basically nobody watches The Americans. Fewer than 2 million people watched its most viewed episode in season two, and only 1.12 million tuned in for the least-viewed episode. Yes, those numbers more than double when you add in everybody who watches later on DVR and streaming sites, but even if those numbers were to triple, they would still reflect a tiny audience."
Every time I recommend this show to someone, theyve never heard of it.

And nearly any secure facility is compromised with a smile or fake ID.
But I can't stop watching it.
Episodes is great. So much better than that overhyped House of Lies. LeBlanc telling the accountant "F You" in response to selling his plane made me laugh out loud.
That is a show that I believe is underrated.
When I recommend the show to people and describe it, they're generally interested, but the next thing out of their mouths is almost always, "Is it on Netflix?"
These days, you have to give people an easy way to get caught up on your show. Jane The Virgin is a show that's been getting a lot of buzz lately, especially after the Golden Globe win, but the effect has been meager because there wasn't any good way for people to start watching it from the beginning.
The seem to be willing to take chances on some really weird stuff. A lot of their shows have a very unique vibe.
this
HBO and showtime just offer too much
To me the problem with the show is pretty simple: there's no end game. The show felt extremely episodic...present problem, overcome challenge, solve problem. Rinse and repeat. Homeland suffers terribly from the same issue, to the point that we couldn't get through season 4.
David Simon (guy behind The Wire) said something amazing recently: "Sustaining the franchise is the great disease of American television."
This is one of the reasons I've come to re-embrace the miniseries format. A show like Broadchurch, with an eight episode story arc seems just right. Enough to be substantial but not so much that it feels like they're struggling to keep it breathing.
The only reason it wasn't canceled was because of his name (IMO).
That is assuming it wasn't canceled. I stopped watching during season 1.
I'm interested to see how much Nina is on the show now that (***SPOILER ALERT***) she's back in Russia.

^ this. Also, IMO - Justified is the best out of all of them. Really disappointing that they're wrapping up this season.

love the show. FX is doing some seriously good TV right now. Archer, the League, Louie, the Americans are all great. I dont watch American Horror Story, but it is my wife's #1 appointment show. I hear that Justified is good. I keep meaning to catch Fargo.

Justified is the ebst out of all of them, although the last season was far from its best. Terriers was great for it's one season, but nobody watched it, and surprisingly Netflix, etc. never picked it up.
They pulled the plug shortly after the season 2 finale.
The best show I watched this year was "The Missing" on STARZ. Great plot - although hard to watch at first, especially if you have young kids - and an amazing finish...
Terriers was another great, FX show that absolutely nobody watched.
Justified is, to me, the most enjoyable show on television. I'm very sad that there are only 11 episodes left, but it's better to go out on top, I guess.
FX has really done some fine fine work in the past few years.
So many shows would have had a save there in the nick of time and it would have cheapened it a little.
Between the 80's decade and the whole cold war / espionage theme I was hooked. Reminded me of how things were when I was in the AF.
Shame.
Best animated show on TV hands down. And this is coming from a huge "Archer" fan.

bw, I mentioned that show earlier in the thread it was a great show, really well done.
Spock, not to miller this thread, but did you watch the Habs last night? I didn't watch the game, but by the box score they were outplayed in every possible stat other than the scoreboard. Just wondering if you watched the game and if the box score was representative of the game. I mean I'll take it of course, but it's what has me concerned with the habs this year.
Hey, I contributed. I'm not entitled to one miller - and I even said "not to miller".
Definitely nowhere near as good as it used to be, but every now and then they can hit one out of the park. Last season's episode with Country Mac for example.

I'm looking forward to tonight- season premiere.

Yeah, it seems like Habs are counting on Carey to bail them out just about every night. When you only get 23 shots on goal at home, you are not exactly putting a lot of pressure on the opposition. They did have their good share of power play chances which helped them and hurt us. Honestly, I'm concerned too.
I'm sure everyone on this thread will tell you yes. We are all hooked.
THIS! It's the biggest criticism for FX's "Tyrant" series which is otherwise fun. But, when you have the series set in a Middle Eastern country and everyone is practically always speaking English, it takes away from the story.
Yeah... my wife and I just couldn't do it. We were going to look up spoilers to see if it was worth the investment.
