and a good example of why change for the sake of change is a significant risk. Kubiak is highly regarded as an OC, but as a HC his teams have been very average. It begs the question, did Elway consider the replacement options thoroughly before cutting Fox loose.

Was this simply change for change's sake? After he dismissed Fox, Elway said they couldn't agree on the next step. That almost implied like there was some major change the team needs to make, but Fox was reluctant to do so. Otherwise, you could pick a number of pre-canned 'change for change's sake' type statements - the team wasn't performing up to expectations, they felt they had the talent to go farther, etc.
I almost got the impression that the change in question was Manning, and the two couldn't agree on him.

It's Elway's team to run..If there is discord, he has a right to make a change..Fox should be thankful he had Peyton to inflate his career W-L record..
A fair question, I didn't hear Elway's comments. Ultimately, given who they reportedly interviewed and hired, it didn't seem like Elway had a solid plan and he wound up with what is probably a lateral hire.

No shit. Glad he's in a galaxy far, far away.
Yeah. But now they'll be switching to a 3-4.
