The countdown to Kevin Durants free agency has already begun in places like New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Washington and especially Oklahoma City, where the next 18 months will fly by faster than Russell Westbrook on the break.
Phil Jackson and the Knicks have until July 1, 2016 to get their house in order and heres something Jackson and the legions of long-suffering Knicks fans are there any other kind? can latch onto: The Knicks are in play.
No question about it, says a person close to Durant. Kevin loves Carmelo (Anthony). It could work in New York. But never rule out the Thunder.
Can't wait for sign and trade Towns, THjr and Galloway for Durant wooooooo

if im handicapping it im saying 60% he stays in OKC, 30% he goes to the wizards, 10% he goes somewhere else.
Hopefully the knicks arent thinking about him at all at this point. If they want to leave some money open this year for flexibility and the chance to make a big move in 2016 im fine with that, but i wouldnt want them to specific hold money for durant.
Also its really nice to see hardaway playing well again. And it doesnt seem to just be that his shot is falling again, he is contributing in other areas as well.
what a clueless comment on every level.

just like LeBron and then the butthurt commences

Huh? Do you not remember what this site was before and immediately after Lebron chose to go to Miami? It was absolutely hilarious
Has a relationship with Melo, very good friends
Has a relationship with Fisher, a lot of respect there as former teammates and Durant was one of the first former players to come out and say he thought Fisher would be a great coach..
has a relationship with a couple of the assistant coaches on the Knicks including one assistant that when he was hired was described as "durants guy"
So there are some connections there but in the end i think he ends up in Washington if he leaves...
I do think this is a different situation than Lebron because Melo is in New York...
I think if Melo was in New York when they were recruiting Lebron the Knicks would of had a much better chance to sign him...
That said, I'd take Okafor in a heartbeat.
Lou Amundson has reached agreement with New York on a deal for the rest of the season and will sign today, league source tells RealGM.
And yeah, you guys had Duke's number for a while like no one else has.
2016 lineup
PG - Who cares?
SG - LeBron
SF - Durant
PF - Melo
C - Okafor
You know it's gonna happen...
There are rumors starting to leak out about how Durant is a little sick of the OKC front office and the OKC media. The media part makes him come off a bit soft. If he can't handle the OKC media then wtf is he gonna do in LA or NY. But the front office thing I totally understand. The OKC ownership is a pathetic pathetic group that has embarrassed themselves. They take the Sonics out of Seattle and then they turn into complete cheapos in OKC when spending just a little bit of money would've meant Championships. They've got good fans but I hope Durant leaves OKC because their front office/ownership doesn't deserve a ring.
Durant's seemingly lack of a "brand" is his brand. It's no accident that he hides his tattoos or hired Jay-Z's company to represent him. I see almost no way he stays in OKC. It's just a matter of where he ends up. And yes the Knicks are a huge longshot IMO for many reasons....with one of the biggest being why would he go somewhere where there's already a max player who sort of does all the same things he does on the court (albeit not as well)? Wouldn't you want to go somewhere with star guards and/or bigs in place?
Personally i think he stays in OKC and if he leaves it will be for WAS.
Wall
Beal
Durant
?
Gortat
Do the knicks have a shot? Sure, but its a small one.
IMO, media in place like OKC or Green Bay can be way worse than NY. In OKC there isnt nearly as much to report. There are the Thunder, OSU sports, capital politics, and local stuff (policies, crime, silly stories etc). Compare that to NY - lots more random stories (more people), celebrity stuff, and a bazillion sports teams. In OKC, Durant is one of the big men in town. No anonymity. It's actually a lot easier for athletes to live under the radar in NY.
I admit I dont read the papers regularly, but when I did I never thought that the NY print media was particularly harsh. Maybe 20 years ago NY was harder because we had sports radio and other places didnt, but now they have sports radio and blogs etc everywhere.

Washington I understand, but why LA? Why Houston? Have you seen or heard evidence of this? I'm being serious, maybe I missed something. And I know the Knicks are a long shot, but I have no clue why LA or Houston are so much more obvious.
