He is a decent veteran complimentary WR. He had a bit of a down year but was still their #2 receiver behind Steve Smith. He's also only 25 years old (and a Maryland Terp.)
The Giants brought in return specialist Jacoby Jones last off-season before he re-signed with the Ravens. There could be interest there again.
The dead money according to overthecap for the next three seasons for him are:
$36.4 million
$24.850 million and
$15.3 million when he will have a cap number over $31 million
This doesn't include Dennis Pitta who has a cap hit of nearly $13 million and if they cut him it will be a loss of nearly $7 million They better hope he retires.
I think they extend Yanda and Ngata which will give them breathing room. It wouldn't surprise me if Canty is cut which will save more than $2 million. Jimmy Smith may be cut too. He's their best corner but cutting him saves nearly $7 million without a cap hit. He ended the season on IR and he has an off the field past as well, as recent as last summer.
Ladarius Webb could be cut. His contract is a joke. It would save them $2 million but it would create a cap hit of $10 million. Tough choice.
I heard he was thinking about it but no official announcement. As far as it's effect I'm not completely sure. That would be a good question for our BBI capologists but I'm sure it has to be a better scenario for the Ravens vs. Pitta playing next season. They're in a bad spot with his contract.
off of the list. I just looked at his contract an it would seem unlikely that he i cut. It would cost them money to let him go in 2015.
Pernell McPhee is another UFA. He's an edge rusher who played OLB in their 3-4 but definitely has the size (6'2/280 lbs) to play DE in a 4-3, where he played in college. He had 7.5 sacks in 2014.
Got to wait and see who they cut..
1. Jersey kid
2. College teammate of Victor Cruz (and Talley)
3. Previously coached by Spags
He is young, with 5 years of NFL experience
Giants have a mauler at G.

In either case, how does retirement help the cap?

Ben Grubbs Guard $9,100,000
That's a lot of money invested at the Guard position.
