being a possible 1st round opponent, I'm curious how the Islanders will look against them tonight. Hopefully Chara takes it easy and doesn't hurt himself again trying to hit Tavares.
But we play a system here. We succeed because of the system. We'll go with the experiment today but we all need to be rowing in the same direction. I don't like the idea of disrupting prosperity.
Jaro Halak gets the start between the pipes, and looks to be facing Rask as he was first off the ice this AM.
Same forwards, d-pairs as Tuesday's game.
If you didn't notice it, Cal Clutterbuck is now wearing the "A" in KO's absence. He's built up a ton of respect in the room and on the ice. I totally understand what he means to a team, but there's also part of me that wonders why Hamonic, or perhaps even Boychuk didn't get the A. Not complaining, but an idle thought.
Tidbit (from Elliotte Friedman): in the ASG postgame handshake, Ryan Johansen apologized to JT for being awarded the game MVP. You can see how much it bothered Johnny since he promptly scored and got First Star in Tuesday's return to the regular season.
Tonight we honor the greatest pure goal scorer in NHL history with Mike Bossy mini-locker night. Maybe this is a good omen with Doubledeuce starting the thread (see, try to find positives!). Bossy on the current Islanders:

This whole season is a little surreal. I don’t think anyone expected the team to be where they are today. In general these guys are more mature, they know how to handle more situations a lot better than they used to. They have a number of lines out there with good chemistry together and its working.
Very nice story here; a family from Prince Edward Island will be attending the game (with the help of their great community back home) after tragically losing the husband/father in a homicide in late 2014. The slain father/husband was a lifelong Isles fan and was laid to rest in his Islanders sweater. After seeing the recent E:60 documentary featuring Travis Hamonic, the mother noted:

Hamonic invites a young fan, who has lost a loved one, to [each] game. It was the subject of an ESPN E:60 documentary, In The Name Of The Father. Kim McGuigan recently watched it with Kayden and Abbey, the two oldest children.
"You could hear a pin drop in the house," Kim said.
Jiffy Lube Live in Haymarket, VA. Taking one of my sons to his first concert...he's just taken up drums (he's 10 and also a huge classic rock fan), so I figured he may as well see the best to have something to aspire to!
I'm shocked. Speaks to the poor quality of what we put out there. They pushed our shit in that period. They had more jump and played desperate. OTOH, we got no pressure, and mahy shots were easily steered away by Rask. We need to match the intensity.
Good to see the top line mesh with the loss of KO.
Call me crazy, but assuming the injury to KO is longer than expected, how would people feel seeing them trade for Jagr to keep on JT's wing?
Doubledeuce...we'll give you this one. But if you fuck it up, back down to BPT.
I'll have some gameday bits later.
Thin ice, DD...

Even without Okposo I like our forwards as they currently are. Wouldn't want to trade an asset to get Jagr.
Good luck DD
Amped up for tonight. Another good test for us and we seem to play well against the top opponents.

And yeah, I'm not sure how I feel about this at all.
Yeah, I read that earlier. Hope all the county execs read it as well. The dipshits.

Let's Go Islanders!
I feel the sense of possibilities
I feel the wrench of hard realities
The focus is sharp in the city
Let's get two!
We will see Chad Johnson tonight. Book it.
