NFT: GMATs

Has anyone here taken the GMATs recently? I'm in the early stages of looking into grad school, and by extension the GMATs, and was wondering if anyone could give me some insight on preparation for the exam.

In particular, I'm trying to see how much more beneficial an in person class would be as opposed to an online course.

Does anyone have any experiences with preparation for the GMAT that they might be able to share? Any particular courses or books that worked well (or by the same token, that I should avoid)?
I remember finding the in person class for SATs not helpful

so for the GMAT I simply bought the Kaplan study guide, which included a plan for scheduling your studies, practice exams for each lesson, and a number of practice GMAT exams. There was a CD and online services as well. I needed the study materials primarily to refresh some Geometry and more difficult Algebra lessons. I scored above what my goal grade was.
I am getting my MBA right now. I am in month 10 out of 27.

I spent about a year studying for the GMAT, because my GPA was horrendous. I would recommend self study first. Get yourself as far along as possible before you bring in a tutor. They are expensive and a waste of time if you don't have a foundation set.

For self study you have to get the Official Guide aka the OG. It has 800 previously used GMAT question. Then I would go with a mix if Manhattan, Kaplan, and Veritas Prep books.

Also check out beatthegmat.com. There are self-study regiments, suggestions on books, and forums to get help. Good luck, and remember the key is not giving up, it just takes time!

Beat the GMAT - ( New Window )
Got a 710.

Borderline genius. Having said that, I can't handle corporate speak.
