The masses must be informed. I am looking at models the appear to show widespread snow of up to a foot across Long Island. What are your thoughts and potential time frame?
we are going to be seeing these threads every single week till late March. i despise winter. never use to mind it till just recently. i hate snow more then anything
Their is a snow storm every week. last week it was saturday. this week monday/tuesday now next week sunday/monday. two years in a row a storm the day after the super bowl. hopefully that is it after monday.
higher totals inland southern New England, 8-10" with isolated locations approaching 12".
Jints - not much for accumulations due to an extended period of rain. Start snow, to mix then rain, then mix and ending with snow. Roads might get messy for the drive back.
Hammer - yeah, that flight is not gonna happen.
RE: I am traveling to DC this weekend for Caps game Sunday
and when I'm not available things go unanswered, that's just the way of things. Next couple weeks are going to be hit and miss with regards to me being around, hopefully I'm settled in to a new location by the middle of the month.
Yeah but I bet he didn't envision all the threads asking for
the landfall of Hurricane Wilma occurred shortly after I joined here, there was a thread on it given our multiple posters in FL and I hit the location and intensity of the event dead on. Build a long term track record of not only being accurate but also capable of communicating uncertainty effectively, and things take on a life of their own from there.
northern portion of the state could see approach 8", central 4-6", southern not much. NEPA will see some, but it's not the location of the highest totals, that once again will be inland southern New England. Sorry east CT, RI, and east MA.

Where is your new location...last I remember you were looking at south Florida. That was a few months back!
Looks like there's a sharp drop off once you get below New Brunswick
for my town in MA, on top of the 3 we got yesterday and the 31 we got Tuesday/Wednesday this is going to be a pain. and it's so cold nothing is melting.
folks are just seeing the control run, and not taking into account the ensembles. The base Euro totals are a bit too high, especially with rain/snow line issues. Would take that with a big grain of salt.
start snow, but it'll change over fairly quickly to rain washing it away. Ends as snow again, definitely potential for a sloppy commute Monday, but overall you're in the warm sector for most of the event.
as always. We're on the edge of NE Westchester/SW Fairfield (Vista, NY + North Stamford).
Even though snow accumulation forecast (8 - 12) less than last Tuesday's estimates, this storm forecast bothers me more than that one because of the sleet/freezing rain component. That means more downed trees, power lines, and harder to get rid of the snow on the driveway.
ugh, plus a bunch of folks coming over at about 6:30 to watch a sporting event
pjcas18 - Milford is going to make history! Stay safe.
Fuck

DC probably gonna be wintry mix maybe even just rain.

He is the weatherman!
Airline travel is, however a different issue.
Four weeks to go then March hits.

This is why I hate the mid-atlantic, we get fucking gyped yet again.
What the hell is it, we're 200+ miles south of North Jersey, we're not at the equator...why do we get passed over constantly?
Is this going to be the whole winter?
Then "don't you go where the huskies go".

I'm trying to learn to read these maps/models on my own.. (taking one Meteorology class in college isn't sufficient)..
looking at the Euro model for later this week, things may get interesting!
