the idea of a rookie QB coming into the league, starting 12 games, going .500 after losing the superstar MVP of the team and completing 64% of his passes winning the ROTY award.
Beckham was the most exciting, and perhaps the best overall at his position (with Donald, Martin, and Mike Evans when accounting for QB quality), but I support giving it to a quarterback who accomplished what Bridgewater did.
win just gives him more incentive to be the best. The guy is tremendously competitive and I love that about him. The Giants need more dudes like him on this roster.
this isn't an MVP vote, it's a best rookie vote. Positions still matter but the QB vs. non-QB argument isn't nearly as important in this debate as with the MVP debate.
And as good as Bridgewater played, he might not even have been the best choice at the QB position with Carr around. Carr did have a 21:12 TD/INT ratio whereas Bridgewater was only at a 14:12 ratio. Now when it comes to Bridgewater vs. Carr, I'd probably go with Bridgewater because I just think he was better despite the TD:INT ratio.
But Bridgewater vs. Beckham is a different story, a no-contest. Bridgewater only played 13 games himself so the games played argument is null here with Beckham at 12.
Bridgewater was a league average QB on a per game basis who finished the season with a good final month
Beckham was the best WR in football on a per game basis who finished the season with a historic month
I'm a QB guy when it comes to the MVP debate. I'd vote Rodgers over Watt. When it comes to value...
Elite QB > Elite WR
But...
Top 5 WR > League Avg. QB
And...
Top 1 WR > Avg. QB
And Beckham was THE best WR in the league this year on a per game basis. So he's easily the best rookie of the year choice even with a good rookie QB season from Bridgewater.
Now a long term franchise draft question between Bridgewater and Beckham is a much tougher question. I'd still go with Beckham because he looks like a surefire superstar talent while Bridgewater is still hit-or-miss at this point, but the QB edge plays a big role here.

Completely disagree.
Bridgewater did well given his situation but Beckham was legitimately one of the best players in the entire league this year. Bridgewater wasn't even close.
I thought a bigger one was also coming today. Keeping up with this shit is like keeping up with all of the types of boxing championship belts. There's Pepsi, there's AP, there's Sporting News... what the Hell is the main one? lol

The AP one is the main. Beckham is almost certain to win that one...
When it was a fan vote. Teddy was a huge name out of College compared to Odell. Would have been nice for the clean sweep buy tonight is the only vote that really matters.

Paul you are one of the more logical posters here, but just no. Playing the more important and impactful position of QB doesn't elevate Bridgewater over OBJ - not a chance when the AP vote comes out. And Bridgwater arguably wasn't even the best rookie QB, considering Derek Carr...
What are you smoking? Derek Carr put up more yards on a team with less than half the talent as Minnesota! The verdict is not even close to being in on Bridgewater yet, you might want to read the analysis per the link.
OBJ is rated as the best rookie receiver this year and gained more yards in 12 games than any rookie WR in history. He led all rookie WR's with 91 catches and 1305 yards, and he did it playing just 12 games! Teddy who? Link - ( New Window )
Beckham's weekly rookie award run this season was rather odd in that regard.
^^^ me neither lol, but seriously Teddy?! SMH, fan votes in these type of things are terrible!

Would be the #1 overall pick in a re-do

This one shouldn't even be a debate.
This isn't who would you take in a Franchise draft. It's who had the best rookie season. And it's not close.
