NFT: New York Rangers vs. Carolina Hurricanes, 7 pm

arcarsenal : 1/31/2015 9:38 am
Very frustrating last 2 games, it's time to take it the fuck out on Jints.

Honestly, this shit happens though. I was extremely annoyed after the game Thursday but it's a long season and there are going to be lulls and times where the puck just doesn't bounce our way. We didn't play poorly. We just could't get the damn puck past.

Carolina sucks but they haven't played terribly lately so this isn't a gimmie even at home.

I'd love to tell you that Miller is back in for Glass but I'm sure the Glassman will continue to keep his spot.

Talbot will probably get one of these next couple games. We'll see if Hank is back out there tonight.

No fucking bullshit tonight. Get a fucking win. Suck it, Jints.

Miller
Servo : 1/31/2015 6:53 pm : link
makes more sense on the first line than Zuccarello. That could be a good fit in the long term.

I don't think it is a matter of him being a 13th forward/top six forward. It is a matter of him really being a top six talent that the coaches feel needs some education. An occasional game or two in the press box isn't the worst thing. My guess is he'll dress every game in the playoffs unless he's truly playing badly.

We can complain about Glass all we want...
MetsAreBack : 1/31/2015 6:58 pm : link
we're stuck with a goddamn $1.5 mm/year cap hit for another 2.5 seasons. I cant believe he got a fuckin 3 year deal. WTF.
And I agree moving Zuccs to 3rd line...
MetsAreBack : 1/31/2015 7:00 pm : link
1) he gives our 3rd line a bit more scoring threat

2) he deserves to be dropped to 3rd line given his recent play

Cant blame AV for shaking things up here. We've not looked good offensively since California (did score 5 in Pittsburgh I guess, but MAF sucks)
Glass is a presence
B in ALB : 1/31/2015 7:06 pm : link
A physical threat. He throws his body around the ice and brings a good bit of grit and physical play that the rangers really need. He really battles in the corners and always sticks up for his teammates. He's not a scoring threat but he will come up big the second half of the season.

Yeah right. He sucks used tampon.
Nash!
Servo : 1/31/2015 7:17 pm : link
Makes them pay for the turnover.
Nash! Finally a lead.

Who else but Rick Nash!

By the way, shouldn't a game thread include those very words or was that tossed out of the faceoff circle?
Dominic Moore

JT. Terrible decision with the puck there. Let's kill it.
Yeah, it's one thing
Stufftherun : 1/31/2015 7:41 pm : link
when when JT makes a mental error but that was an egregious mistake that cant be overlooked.

What

a tough SOB.
The freak timing
Stufftherun : 1/31/2015 8:10 pm : link
of McD's stick lifting his throat guard and the shot arriving at the same time is something we may never see again. How fucking dangerous!
They've
Servo : 1/31/2015 8:13 pm : link
played like crap since the second goal.
Who the fuck is Brad Malone??

Boyle puck watching
B in ALB : 1/31/2015 8:27 pm : link
He sucks too.
No fucking reason for Boyle
Stufftherun : 1/31/2015 8:28 pm : link
to drift over there when McD had it covered.
Well
Servo : 1/31/2015 8:38 pm : link
the last eight minutes or so were much, much better.
Heck of a 2nd save
bigbluehoya : 1/31/2015 9:02 pm : link
By ward there
Kreider!
Servo : 1/31/2015 9:11 pm : link
Great work to start the play and a sweet play by Hayes.
Beautiful pass by Hayes
Stufftherun : 1/31/2015 9:12 pm : link
and Kreids rewarded for his hard work tonight.
boom, CK
bigbluehoya : 1/31/2015 9:12 pm : link
Nice to see him get one --- he's played a really strong game tonight
Huge goal.
yatqb : 1/31/2015 9:12 pm : link
.
And a should-be dagger
bigbluehoya : 1/31/2015 9:15 pm : link
From Boyle. Nicely tee'd by Hagelin.
I wonder how Kreider would do on a team with more toughness,
yatqb : 1/31/2015 9:15 pm : link
like Boston? A lot better, I think.

GOAL!!!
And
Servo : 1/31/2015 9:15 pm : link
Boyle tacks one on! 4-1
Now I can inch
Stufftherun : 1/31/2015 9:17 pm : link
a little closer to the backrest on my couch.
Yeah
Servo : 1/31/2015 9:20 pm : link
they decided to quit dicking around about halfway through the second and they've dominated since then.
Hags and Kreids
Stufftherun : 1/31/2015 9:21 pm : link
really displaying their speed tonight. They've had the Canes D on their heels all night.
Hagelin
Servo : 1/31/2015 9:24 pm : link
is more important to this team than a lot of people seem to realize. His speed and forecheck are critical.

Couldn't agree more. There are however some detractors on this board who think he should be a 30 goal scorer because of the number of chances he gets. He just doesn't have the hands that can match his speed but as you pointed out he does so many other things at such a high level.
Nice effort from the 2nd half
Stufftherun : 1/31/2015 9:41 pm : link
of the 2nd petiod on. AV shaking the lines up really put some life into them.

Another pain in the ass team on Monday in Florida. Will have to jump on them early and grind it out.
Playing a shitty team
bigbluehoya : 1/31/2015 9:44 pm : link
Like Carolina will cure a lot of what ails you, but the line tinkering did seem to have a positive impact.
I really like Hayes and Kreider on the same line.
arcarsenal : 2/1/2015 12:30 am : link
Also.. HEN-RIK.

My heart stopped for a minute there. Hank is a tough SOB. And he was brilliant tonight
arc way to step the fuck up tonight
B in ALB : 2/1/2015 12:51 am : link
Brett has been Glass-esque lately and this team needed some skill. Fire it up for Monday homeboy.
Interesting stat
bigbluehoya : 2/1/2015 7:18 am : link
Fast has spent 35:19 TOI on the PK this season with zero PP goals against in that time. Best in the NHL.

I was unimpressed with him last year and early this year, but I've noticed him having a real impact of late

A win is a win, B. But Arc chose Carolina at home as his coming out party.... way to challenge yourself, Arc.

Echo the comments above on Hagelin. I'd be shocked if he were the one moved this offseason though. MSL now has 15 goals in 67 regular season games as a Ranger, and he turns 40 in June. Wouldn't be surprised if we parted ways at year end and kept the younger guys.
Tough for anyone else to get on the ice these days...
arcarsenal : 2/1/2015 10:37 am : link
With Brettsky double and triple shifting.

Also, I agree about Fast. He's a really good bottom 6 forward. He doesn't pop up on the stat sheets a lot but he does a lot of things well and is especially good in our end. I felt the same way about him last year.. I wasn't sure what AV was seeing but now that he's a regular, I get it.

Pretty confident that's never going to happen with Glass, but.. C'est La Vie...
Still feels a little early in the season to scoreboard watch...
MetsAreBack : 2/1/2015 12:27 pm : link
but fuck it, all 8 Eastern Conference playoff teams seem to win just about every night. This is fun, albeit frustrating too. Gonna be a hell of a playoffs this year.

Go Blues!
Freakin Ovechkin
MetsAreBack : 2/1/2015 1:29 pm : link
Price getting the MVP love and deservedly so, but Ovechkin a close 2nd IMO. He's beasting this year.
Backes and Shattenkirk done for the day already for STL
MetsAreBack : 2/1/2015 2:13 pm : link
.. Backes just a really dumb fuckin play.
Hopefully StL holds on here..
arcarsenal : 2/1/2015 3:37 pm : link
PIT down 3-0 to Nashville through 2.. just not a believer in that team at all. I don't think they get out of the 1st rd this year.
Good work, St Louis
MetsAreBack : 2/1/2015 3:42 pm : link
took it to Washington short-handed today. Granted Caps looked pretty good too considering they went to OT yesterday and had Peters in net today. Washington is going to be tough out come April. Would like to see them play Tampa in the first round - would be an entertaining series.

Pittsburgh getting hammered as arc mentioned. Its tough to judge at the moment with Malkin out. I'm just generally not in awe of them anymore... and clearly no relevant team in the metro is either. Everyone - from WAS to us to NYI to CBJ - has had a lot of success vs them this year.
lolNabby
MetsAreBack : 2/1/2015 3:53 pm : link
put on waivers by the way. Wonder if NYI or Pitt take a look... he's terrible, but still better than Johnson and MAF.
Caps lose, Pens lose, Habs lose
NYerInMA : 2/1/2015 4:27 pm : link
All in regulation. Now I'd just like the Pats to lose tonight and it will be a perfect sports Sunday!
Yes for sure on the divisional losses...good day without even playing.
pganut : 2/1/2015 4:40 pm : link
Isles won't look at Nabby. He's 39 and in rapid decline. Johnson is what he is, but he has youth on his side. No thanks on Nabby, but happy to bring him back to the organization in some coaching/FO capacity. What's more interesting is that Buffalo management has gone on record that all their impending FAs are up for discussion, even for 5th/6th round picks. I'd be calling about Enroth or Neuvirth if I was Garth.
