Rank the players that you want the Giants to pick at #9 in order. Simple as that. This is who you want the Giants to pick so if you have Winston on your list, that means if everyone before him is off the board he's your guy for the Giants. No trades.
I find this exercise more productive than simply saying this is who I think the Giants should pick at their spot since we don't know who will be taken and who will be available. If you force rank nine Giants are guaranteed to get one of the players on your list if they want.
Here's mine:
Williams
Cooper
White
Odighizwa
Fowler
Beasley
Parker
Wayens
Scherff
And go.
1 - Leonard Williams - DT-DE/USC
2 - Amari Cooper - WR/Alabama
3 - La'el Collins - OT/LSU
4 - Andrus Peat - OT/Stanford
5 - Danny Shelton - DT/Washington
6 - Kevin White - WR/West Virginia
7 - Brandon Scherff - OT/Iowa
8 - Shane Ray - DE-OLB/Missouri
9 - Dante Fowler - OLB-DE/Florida
This is from a non-CFB-watcher (for me, it's up there with AAA baseball and juniors hockey), so I really appreciate the info you and others share here.
Peat
Scherff
White
Parker
Odi
Dupree
Gordon
Ray
Isnt fowler a bit small for DE? Would he play SAM?
Gordon
Cooper
White
Fowler
Collins
Peat
Shelton
Scherrf
Dante Fowler
Danny Shelton
Brandon Scherff
Andrus Peat
Arik Armstead
Randy Gregory
Ereck Flowers
Amari Cooper
Dante Fowler
Danny Shelton
Randy Gregory
Vic Beasley
Kevin White
Amari Cooper
Donte Fowler
La'el Collins
2 - Amari Cooper - WR- Combine numbers cemented him as the top WR when accounting for his elite production starting freshman year
3 - DeVante Parker-WR- Man amongst boys. Highest average receiving yards per game in all of College Football last year
4 - Kevin White-WR- Any of 3 will be great pros.
5 - Andrus Peat- LT- Don't think Giants go here anymore as they tend to like some agility measurables in their left tackles
6 - La'el Collins - OT- Don't think the Giants go here because he is more a OG or RT but love his toughness and workout
7 - Scherff - Strictly OG for me but will be a very good one. Giants likely don't go here due to lack of LT ability
8 - Vic Beasley- A monster off the edge but can he play that 4-3 'hybrid' DE/LB role? I think he can.
9 -Alvin 'Bud' DuPree- Great combine numbers and has pretty close to size/frame Giants look for in a 4-3 DE. More Athlete than Football Player?
Fowler DL
Ray DL
Cooper WR
White WR
Beasley DL
Scherff OL
Parker WR
If I couldn't get one of the above 8 I'd prefer to trade down. If not I'd go with...
Clemmings OL
1 - Leonard Williams - DT-DE/USC
2 - Amari Cooper - WR/Alabama
3 - La'el Collins - OT/LSU
4 - Andrus Peat - OT/Stanford
5 - Danny Shelton - DT/Washington
6 - Kevin White - WR/West Virginia
7 - Brandon Scherff - OT/Iowa
8 - Shane Ray - DE-OLB/Missouri
9 - Dante Fowler - OLB-DE/Florida
Top 3 are the same then I go:
4 - Kevin White - WR/West Virginia
5 - Danny Shelton - DT/Washington
6 - Vic Beasley - OLB-DE/Clemson
7 - Andrus Peat - OT/Stanford
8 and 9 same as yours
It seems like you and I agree that Gregory is absolutely not a fit for the Giants. I also left Ray off of my board for that reason.
There's just something about Fowler that yells 3-4 OLB to me. I think he'd prefer to stay in that scheme, point downhill and rush the QB, rather than have to change schemes and battle huge OL repeatedly. I don't see the power base at the POA and burst off the edge NYG looks for, and he is a little undersized in that regard too. He looks like a Falcons DE, they're not as a two-way strong as NYG likes.
Interesting to see the diversity of picks. The biggest difference seems to be in how highly some rate the OL vs others.
Fowler DL
Shelton DL
Scherff OL
Beasley LB
Cooper WR
White WR
Winston QB
Collins OL
Would have Cooper/White higher, but I think there are some good WRs in rounds two and three.
Kevin White
Amari Cooper
Dante Fowler
Brandon Scherff
Alvin Dupree
DeVante Parker
Andrus Peat
Odi
Amari Cooper
Kevin White
Dante Fowler
La'el Collins
Shane Ray
Vic Beasley
Danny Shelton
O. Odighizwa
2 - DE Dante Fowler - Best 4-3 DE in the draft IMO
3 - OT La'el Collins - Best OL in the Draft IMO
4 - WR Amari Cooper - Best WR in the Draft
5 - OT Brandon Scherff - Second best OL could be an all pro OG which I would be happy with also. Think he can play OT though.
6 - WR Kevin White - Showed he has truly elite size/speed ratio
7 - LB/DE Vic Beasley - You can't ignore how good he was at Clemson. The question is can he either A)bulk up and play DE or B) cover as a OLB. After blowing up at the combine and coming in with good height and weight you have to take him at this point. LB and move to pass rusher on 3rd downs.
8 - OT Andrus Peat - Best true LT in the draft IMO
9 - DT Danny Shelton - I am a fan. I don't think I would take him over a chance at a stud LT which Peat could develop into. I would be very happy to have him as he was a huge force in the Pac-12
It is all pretty close really though. I mean Leonard Williams... gap ... 2-7... gap ... 8-12
Collins
Cooper
White
Parker
Odi
Not sure what LB yet
Not sure what db yet.
Here is why I wish for Collins:
I think the interior line is becoming more essential relative to tackles in the NFL in general and for Eli in particular. Ever since the 2008 Cleveland game when Shaun Rodgers in specific and Cleveland in general gave the NFL the blueprint against Eli it is obvious that his weakness relative to the top 10 qbs is up the gut penetration. Eli's strength is the mid and long pass. The antidote is rush up the center. I think Eli and the Giants rB performance is more directly affected by a great guard and center play.
In addition, i think Northeast and giant stadium weather puts a premium on a dependable running game. Here is what i mean by dependable bad weather running game: tiki used to break off long runs and 0-2 yard games. But in Pittsburgh late season must win games second quarter sloppy weather meant the whole stadium and every player on defense knew it was going to be a run behind Hutchison and Faneca. And it was. And it worked.
Two games a year in the Northeast and Giants stadium come down to that...especially as Eli loses a little off his fastball.
Imho for this version of the Giants. ..Drafting a terrific guard for 8 years is a great opportunity.
Hope you are well.
Doing well. Glad to see you posting. Best thing to come out of that deleted thread.
2) Collins
3) White
4) Cooper
5) Shelton
6) Beasley
7) Fowler
8) Peat
9) Melvin Gordon/Devante Parker (really cant decide)
I really don't think this is rocket surgery. He's the best defensive player likely or possible to be there at #9. He has the college production to back up the crazy Combine performance. We suck on D. Just pick him, already.

I would love the idea of drafting Beasley as a SAM. I hate the idea of drafting him as a DE.
1. The Giants are going to get a player that they have ranked very highly. I think we were all able to come up with 9 players that we would be excited to add to the team.
2. If 2 QBs come off the board before 9 the Giants should get an elite player.
3. There are great players on both sides of the balls. I'd say it's 50/50 that the pick is offense vs. defense.
4. BPA is a no brainer. The players this high in the draft are too good to reach for need.
I enjoyed this and will probably do this once more right before the draft. Thanks again.
