a great pass rusher worked as a 4-3 Sam? Aside from Von Miller? And he has been injured and suspended so much its hard to get a read on him even. Most great pass rushers are DEs or OLBs. I would be happier if Fowler was available and could come and play DE for the Giants.

I am now a believer in the Vic Beasley story absolutely blew it out at the combine...he has absolutely the best tape of any defensive player in the draft and the workout was even better then expected...I am believing the story...this guy looks like a Von Miller clone and would love to see this guy picked at @9....he shows in the combine drills he is a LB...the Giants need a stud LB in the front 7 and hope he makes it to them...based on the tape...he is clearly the best defensive player in the draft.

This doesn't necessarily answer your question but Spags turned Kiwi into a LB in 07 and he was looking good until he ended up on IR.

If Fewell were still here I'd be against Beasley because I had no faith is his ability to be creative with guys who didn't fit the scheme completely. With Spags though I wouldn't mind Beasley at all.

Can count on Beason is beyond me. He's just never healthy for long. Reese screwed up in that contract but they are stuck. Now people think he's someone to count on. Nuts

I would be surprised if Shaq Thompson is available at 40, but he'd be a good investment at that spot. I doubt he's a full-time LB in the pros, though. Probably a safety-linebacker hybrid who practices with the DBs.

Beastly jpp Ayers and Moore on passing downs would be nice

If you think in terms of adding talent in the front 7, this kid will bring it. A very good chance he is sitting there at 9 for the picking. I think he could play WLB or RDE. He is very quick of the ball.

Either Beasley or Fowler were our pick at 9 and Thompson were there again at 40? Ho-chee mama

unfortunately I don't think he will be there for us. I see the hated Redskins taking him. I also think Danny Shelton will be gone taken by Chicago. It wouldn't surprise me if we took a wide receiver like Cooper or White, if a d-line man isn't available. I not totally sold on Scherff, because it looks like you can get a good guard later in the draft.

at first, it looked like there were about 6-7 very good players and we'd be stuck with what would normally amount to a 20th pick.

None of the Oline guys are worth a #9 pick. With all the receivers and defensive talent starting to bubble up, I think we'll have a shot at a play maker. That's exactly what you want with your 1st rounder, especially at #9.

but as long as the Giants are in a 4-3 I would rather have the DEs be the stud pass rushers and the SAM play the run and cover TEs. Otherwise they might as well go to a 3-4. It seems there are a lot more prototypical 34 OLBs available in the draft every season than there are stud 260 lb+ (270+ better) DEs who can be effective pass rushers from a 43 7 technique. It seems like a much better move for a big athletic 43 DEto move to 34 OLB than it is for a 34 OLB to effectively switch to 43 SAM. Or a lightweight 43 DE to switch to 43 SAM in Beasley's case. Its a tough call. I would like Beasley as a Giant, but I would feel better not taking a great pass rusher and making him a SAM. I think Kiwi would have had a much better career had he been drafted as a 3-4 OLB, or traded to a team where he would have played that position.
