The older I get, the less sentimental I am about any athlete. At this point, if it's for the good of a team I root for that a player has to go, eh, so be it.
it just seemed so wrong. He was still their best option at QB and they cut him. Also it drove me nuts that he had 199 td passes and would not get number 200. He could have played and got it for someone else, but Simms was a Giant his whole NFL career and did not want that to change.
Phil was the saddest. Terrible way to go and it was a shocker at the time. Assumed he'd get one more year before they turned it over to Brown.
Pepper was the most upsetting. I expected him to be one of the anchors of the D for a few more years. Gave me a bad feeling about Reeves. Good coaches shouldn't need to cut a quality player to send a message like that. Not with a veteran team anyway. And Belichick scooped him right up.
Undrafted FA who played his whole career with the Giants. Was part of the BS penalty at the end of the 2002 playoff game against the 49ers. Had a horrible leg injury the next season which costed him 2 seasons. Came back and became the RG for Giants and was a mainstay on the line helping win the Super Bowl in 2007. Cutting Bavaro -- their heads were in the right place as Bavaro seemed cooked but they sure as fuck could have used Bavaro during that 93 season. Anyone want to tell me with certainty that the Giants don't beat dallas in the finale with Bavaro on the field? Eat a dick aaron pierce....

Agree that Bavaro cut was heart-rending and McCaffery cut was totally unbelievable.
