Says he knows what's on it also, but not sure when or if it will be released. At first I didn't believe there was actually a video. Schefter has a ton of sources though. It has to be real. I wonder what is on it and if it is truly 5x worse then the Ray Rice tape.
Sorry busy at work. No link as I read it on Twitter.
Some places claim to have seen screen shots from the video as proof.
^^^that's my hope. Isn't the suspension for DV now 6 games though?
Link - Chicago Sun-Times - ( New Window )
Rice, Hardy & Peterson essentially were suspended for the year. It was the 1st time the public knew about a Rice DV issue. People will go insane if Dez isn't suspended for just as long.
If true, what a messed up/complex/awesome situation
A lot of well off shop at Walmart. Groceries, socks, toy department, etc. It's an easy place to get stuff b/c they have everything. They'll likely have a organ section soon.
I'd be surprised if that's the ONLY place where he shops.
Meanwhile the public tolerance and opinion for domestic violence does not have to be based on fact, merely suspicion and accusation.
The NFL must have definitive proof to take any action. In the mean time, the NFL will be subject to public outcry for action.
Damned either way.
That would likely be their argument for a reduced suspension. Try to claim that he was young & foolish and has since "grown".
They'll likely have a organ section soon.
Is that the type of organ section where you can pick up a new liver, or are we talking Hammond B3's? Either way, still not enough to get me into a Walmart.
Pets, firearms, dynamite, HCL on the same shelf as nitric acid, etc.
Welcome to Walmart :)

might take my girl there tonight for some correcting.

@DezBryant I need to get me a real raw uncut tv show or something ... I can't continue to get betrayed like this..

That's the difference between a credible reporter and a website blogger. He's filtering his information, cross-referencing and double checking his facts and making sure his story is correct as possible before presenting it.
It's probably killed him that he has had to sit on it so long, but he's doing it the right way.

been working on this since September. Wow, ace reporting there. 5 months and nothing.

5 months? For a tmz level video? In this climate of the NFL and domestic violence? I am all for checking sources, but 5 months? If Schefter was writing for the washington post in the 70's, Nixon would have finished his term!
It's not the woman, it's Dez's old friends (supposedly).
And getting proof of the NFL/Cowboys trying to blackmail them, would be worth far more than a tape of Dez knocking someone out. Granted these guys probably aren't smart enough to pull that off (though the NFL might be dumb enough to attempt it)
I know suspended players don't get paid and don't count against the 53 but does their salary count towards the cap even though not received?
My guess is Schefter just wants to position himself to "claim" he helped break the story. Even if there isn't a story, doubt anyone remembers by the time camp rolls around.
Well I hope it's the Cowboys that covered it up and not the NFL. More fines/penalties for good old Jerry!!
It's just as possible Dez's "people" just paid off the woman though.
If there is a video of Dez knocking out a woman, it doesn't matter if it happened years ago, it's the image of the NFL now. He will get punished and I would not at all be shocked to see him get nailed with a year suspension if it's as bad as they say.
Needless to say, I'm sure Dez's people paid this woman off not to press charges. But it looks like after he's "cleaned" his life up to leave his old friends behind, they don't like being left out of the hanger on money and are blackmailing him and will take him down with them. Good luck Dez, your screwed.
AP was on the commissioner's exempt list (or something like that). The NFL didn't "officially" suspend him until his trial and at that point I believe he was suspended indefinitely. Though it's misleading because I think the new DV deal with the NFLPA called for a 6 game suspension for a 1st time offender and there were conveniently 6 games remaining when AP got suspended. So claiming it was "indefinite" made them sound tougher (that said AP still needs to be officially reinstated).
So AP was partially paid for last season.

The only reason it wouldn't come out if it exists is that it's a shakedown, and those in possession of the tape thought they could use Bryant's contract negotiations/free agency to extort the maximum money from him. I don't know how much the likes of TMZ would pay, but I don't imagine it would so much that a motivated Bryant or Jerry Jones couldn't match. Hell I wouldn't put it past Jones, to do a deal where he makes this go away in return for Bryant signing a favourable deal.
But if they're scummy ex-friends of Bryant, that seems a bit, well intelligent for that crowd to wait for maximum leverage instead of taking whatever money was on the table.
We have been approached by multiple tipsters claiming to know what the video shows, and there are at least three conflicting versions. Notably, of all the people who have offered descriptions of what's on the tape, not one claims to have actually seen it. There's more than a hint of urban legend here.
A bunch of articles have been posted saying Schefter "confirms" video's existence, even though he said he's never seen the video. Even though Schefter is to be commended for sitting on this rumor for 5 months or whatever, if that's really true, he probably should be more clear when talking about an "it," considering the "it" could very well be a rumor and not a physical video.
Schefter: Yeah.
Carmen and Jurko: Have you seen it?
Schefter: I have not seen it.

Matt, I really hope this isn't true. I don't like the guy but I'd be in his corner if he really turned it around and was being blackmailed by thugs. I'd hope the blackmailers do prison time.
"I'm not ashamed of none of my past incidents because that's what made me who I am today"
Not sure if this was directed to me, but I was referring to the possibility of them blackmailing Dez or the NFL or the Cowboys.

The video is reportedly for sale to the highest bidder, or, alternately, being used to extort Bryant. To that we would add: to anyone in possession of the video, email us at Deadspin, and perhaps we will pay you money for the video.

Why should he be commended for "sitting on" this rumor? It's his job to confirm the rumor and report it.
from what i read, its him choking a girl unconscious. that would be worse than what ray rice did
More $$$ and like you said, I doubt these guys (if they exist) are mensa candidates.
If I'd seen a screenshot from a video, and was asked if I'd seen the video, I'd probably say that I'd only seen a screenshot. Schefter is hyping this up as a pretty big deal, I assume if he'd seen even an image from the video he'd say so.
Depends how she became unconscious. Did he find her that way, KO'd her after she slapped him, or just KO'd her for the hell of it?
maybe he was giving her the "50 Shades of Grey" treatment?
You don't see how this helps the Giants? They could lose a proven stud top 5 NFL receiver and would have to use their late first round pick on a WR rather than using it to help their defense. Also is it a lock they will get a stud WR at the end of the 1st round?
Ummm wouldn't that mean they would lose another player of value from having to draft a "stud" player at WR instead of help elsewhere like DT. Plus you really think any WR available to Dallas at their draft pick will be anything close to Dez Bryant at this point in his career? NO way
This all sounds fishy to me. Everyone wants to make a buck or be the one to break the story rather than worry about the victim

Don't worry, Schefter and Bernstein are on the case. They'll get to the bottom of this by 2016. 2017 at the latest.

He slapped her with his cap.
As long as that video is exclusive to Bryants former crony, it has value. Soon as it's released,or seized, it's worthless. the guy wants to cash out, whether he burns Bryant or not, I don't think he cares.I'm sure he'd be quite fine selling the only copy to Bryant for the right price, and then moving to a beach somewhere.
Several things in play here. First and foremost is the fact that his former agency is not naive to the law, and is not going to expose themselves to prosecution for blackmail, so they no doubt have a plan to release the video that protects them legally from extortion charges. At the very least they are trying to find a way to do that, at least to the extent that if it ever goes to trial there can be reasonable doubt as to whether the video as released intentionally.
I think it's safe to assume if hush money was paid to conceal the video, that the victim was likewise paid, and would expose herself to charges should she now go public. I have no doubt that an experienced agency with legal staff made sure she signed whatever releases from indemnity and prosecution they needed to keep her quiet. they didn't just pay someone and roll the dice she would be quiet. same thing with Dez cronies who sold the tape. So you won't ever hear from the victim, or the guy who made the video. They have already been paid. They open their mouths they can be sued, and they'd lose in court, whatever else happens, and they know it.
It was probably handled by the agency in the first place and not by bryant personally because bryant himself is no lawyer, and didn't know how to construct such deals without ensuring the aforementioned parties would never go public.
In the aftermath of this, Bryant, who probably paid out the ass to the victim, and his cronies, then his agency, gets pissed his agency is making out like bandits for services provided, then goes to Jay Z's agency , who can't do shit, except pay more money than Bryant's original agency was charging in the first place, as I'm sure their "rate" has gone up since he left their representation. Some stills are released to prove to bryant and his party that former agency is serious about releasing the video if they arent paid.
Noone in the media can say shit, because if the tape isn't released, or Bryant turns out to be the highest bidder, whoever says anything is exposed to a slander or libel suit.
This is how, and why, something like this can stay quiet, and how someone like shefter can say "It may never be released."Shefter himself said he expects Bryant to be in Dallas next year. That means he thinks, in the end, Bryant is going to pay, He has no choice, really.
When other sources say his current agency is "Brainwashing him" what they really mean is they are telling him they aren't going to pay, and he shouldn't either.Which, in the end, may amount to career suicide. which this new agency may prefer to see, rather than being tied to a guy that, regardless of the profits he brings, isn't worth marrying and then getting dragged down with when it all goes tits up.
Sometimes, in jest there is truth..:)
Sure not the company but the guy making 9 dollars an hour at Walmart who is in charge of the videos would.
#Cowboys have known about this Dez Bryant incident for some time. They have taken particular interest in it.

This might be the dumbest thing I've ever read on BBI - and we're only a week or so removed from the Spock/Enoch thread. Congratulations on the "honor".
